As a volunteer helping to plan our very small private school auction I find your videos invaluable! Since we are a small operation we have to make smart choices, and myself and another volunteer are pushing for the smaller silent auction count this year. I’m hopeful!!
Exciting stuff! Yes -- when you have a small team expected to do everything, focusing on what matters most is key. Just today in a client wrap-up meeting, I was visiting with a Dev. Director who works for a large private school. In her case, she has a dozen solid volunteers helping, and she commented that "athough other schools are eliminating or shrinking their silent auction, ours continues to do well so I think we should keep it." I agreed with her -- her silent auction DOES do well AND she has a lot of help with it. But so many other teams don't have that kind of support, so being savvy about your choices to maximize revenue is key. Make sure your silent auction is competitive to drive sales higher naturally.
Very helpful information, Sherry. Thanks!

Hear, hear! Fabulous advice, as always.
Ignore Sherry’s advice at your own peril. Without competition for an item, you will not raise much through Silent Auction items.
You got it, John! Competition is the easiest way to drive higher bids.
Thanks for the information Sherry. I will also check out your website.
