- One of the most beautiful boat trip of my life !
The deep blue Lake Thun is the largest lake in the Bernese Oberland entirely located in the Canton of Bern. It offers views of green meadows, forests, the typical alps as well as the eternally white peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau beyond. During the summer months and between Christmas and New Year, the steamship Blümlisalp clatters and puffs its way across the clear blue waters of Lake Thun in the middle of this landscape. Your trip on Lake Thus can start at any jetty round Lake Thun. Select the boat trip on Lake Thun that most appeals in terms of departure time or itinerary. Trips leave from Interlaken West and proceed along the Neuhaus nature reserve, on towards the St. Beatus Caves and Beatenbucht, to Spiez, Gunten, Oberhofen, Hilterfingen, Hünibach and then ultimately on to Thun. The entire trip from Interlaken to Thun takes around two hours and 10 minutes.

I am actually born in Thun but I moved to Germany 10 years ago. This year, my husband and I went on holidays to Berne and we did exactly this trip! It is just wonderful and relaxing. I recommand this trip to everybody going to Berne/Thun. Thanks for upload, Dutchman!

Everybody enjoys a nice boat ride, but very few are privileged to go out on one this beautiful and relaxing. 8k video cameras are a challenge, even for Sony. The Tv sets, I think, are more advanced than cameras.
Your camera is a good and expensive one. I think, the manufacturers have to perfectionate them.

I would like to visit this city after pandemic 😍
I managed to take the boat from Interlaken to Thun back in 1981 or 82. Like you, I enjoyed it immensly, so relaxing. The difference was that I happened to chose a sailing which did all the south/west shore landings. Spiez, being a major railway junction, necessitated your trip took a dash across Thunersee then back again. Excellent editing.
Ships hog the North/East Shore now. only crossing over the Lake from Gunten to Faulensee and Spiez before crossing back from Spiez to Merligen (or vice versa the other Way round). The South/West Shore Landings of Leissigen, Einigen and Gwatt are only served from Spring to Autumn once a Day each Direction. The Landings at Därligen, Lachen, Schadau and Thunerhof are not in use at all anymore.

We decided to take an after dinner cruise. You have got us planning a "when we save $50,000" trip. I was so happy to find that we can combine a Interlaken vacation with some of the other places we want to go. (Maybe we'll go for a little less money. lol)

Der See ist wunderschön, aber was ist im Wasser? Wie die meisten Alpenseen in der Zentralschweiz wurde der Thunersee von der Schweizer Armee genutzt, um überflüssige Munition und Sprengstoff zu lagern. Aufgrund der Nähe zu Militärlagern wurden in den Jahren 1945-1964 3.000 bis 4.600 Tonnen (von bisher mehr als 8.000 Tonnen bekannt) darin (je nach Schätzungen) 3.000 bis 4.600 Tonnen Luftbomben, Artillerie Granaten, Granaten, Handfeuerwaffen und Sprengstoffe (einschließlich TNT). Die größte Bedrohung neben dem Explosivstoff sind in der Munition Schwermetalle und andere giftige Verbindungen, deren schädliche Wirkung unter anderem Die Fauna des Sees wurde in letzter Zeit ernst genommen.
Nach vielen Jahren des Schweigens wurde das Problem der seit 2003 im See versenkten Munition von den Behörden der Schweizerischen Eidgenossenschaft offiziell untersucht.
The lake is beautiful, but what's in the water? Like most alpine lakes in central Switzerland, Lake Thun was used by the Swiss Army to stockpile redundant ammunition and explosives. Due to the proximity to military warehouses, in the years 1945-1964, from 3,000 to 4,600 tons (of more than 8,000 tons disclosed so far) were dumped in it (depending on the estimates) from 3,000 to 4,600 tons of air bombs, artillery shells, grenades, small arms and explosives. (including TNT). Apart from the explosive one, the greatest threat are contained in ammunition heavy metals and other toxic compounds, the harmful effects of which, among others, the fauna of the lake has recently been taken seriously.
After many years of silence, the problem of ammunition dumped in the lake since 2003 has been officially examined by the authorities of the Swiss Confederation.

Uploading a video at 8K is easy enough but were the images captured at 8K then maintained at 8K uncompressed through the edit process?
HI, record at 8K H.265 codec ! edit in H.265 in Adobe première pro and export in H.265 8K ! Uncompressed will be Apple Prores

@@TheFlyingDutchMan8K yes, of course but one of the benefits of Resolve is that it comes from a professional Broadcast/Cinema background so with a BMD hardware card installed (eg Decklink) and a properly calibrated 10 bit 4:4:4 monitor, you area actually editing and grading a genuine 'video' signal, not your computer's interpretation of a video signal. PP remains fine for heavily compressed, 8 bit 4:2:0 TH-cam applications but shooting H265 and editing H265 is inviting triple compression as YT only adds yet another layer. I'd recommend shooting at 10 bit 4:2:2 at the highest possible bitrate then editing to an Uncompressed Master which can be uploaded to YT. Also, there's not much point uploading 8K yet as there are very few 8K monitors or TVs out there. Capturing at 8K makes for very nice 4K so if I were shooting 8K H265, I would immediately transcode it to 4K ProRes 4:4:4 and go from there. (much easier on your CPU than editing H264/5)
