The story of Falling Felon is fitting for the filmmaker behind the project as the duo’s chance meeting is like something out of a movie. Whether happenstance or fate, a woman - Apaig Lombé - dressed colourfully against the drab backdrop of the Berlin metro caught the attention of musician, photographer, and director Brieuc Le Meur. Six months on and they had finished their first album together. Self-titled as Falling Felon, the 10-track alternative pop, song writing project is set for release 01/03/22.
Lead single I Just Do the Falling sets the tone for this piece quite like no other. Synths breathe in and out as electronic trills punctuate the track’s beat. This ambient and atmospheric soundscape provides the perfect backdrop for Lombé’s impassioned vocals. Ditching contemporary trends, Apaig draws on the experiences of her Zambian childhood in Lusaka with a powerful spoken word style of delivery. Pair this with a mix of Berlin electronics and a hypersensitive French touch and you get the unique mix that makes Falling Felon so special.
