I forwarded your video to my friend. He lives close to that zoo and goes there, so he will love seeing your video. I haven't been there. And Ross park is small but a nice zoo also.
Hi I'm a volunteer here. The red fox at 1:00:00 is wild, there are a number of wild foxes in the area up here and they sometimes come in from the surrounding Burnet Park. You're lucky to have seen one though, I've only caught one before after hours while it is cooler with less people. Red foxes were last part of the zoo in early 2018, since at that point all species on the back trail, between tigers and red wolf / elephants were removed due to concerns they could be stressed by renovations happening at the time in the vicinity. There are active plans to have more than just benches back there in the near future, though currently those plans don't include new animals in that section. As for the leopard / lemur exhibit, that is largely just done in summer when it is too hot for our leopard to want to go out, so since he would rather be in air conditioning anyways, the lemurs get access to the space as a newer environment for them / extra enrichment as well. Also for clarification, our elephant barn dog Cora stays overnight with one of the keepers rather than at the zoo itself, serving a unique role more for the humans than the animals, since along with being a great morale boost for visitors and staff, she also serves a key training role for newer staff, who can work with her before the elephants since she knows all the same commands.
Also I know that before the Komodo Dragon exhibit it was the former Indian Peafowl exhibit I was wondering why did you guys get rid of it and not have it roaming free like most zoos do
@@TreySarver-p5x I’m not sure on the reasoning with the Peafowl because that was before my time doing any work there, but as of last year we do now have free roaming birds when the temperature is warm enough, with our flock of 24 Guineafowl.
@@TreySarver-p5x I'm unsure what happened to the peacock, not that he was free roaming before, though as of last year in warm weather there are free roaming birds around Camel with a flock of Guineafowl, and yes I've been to ross park, nice place, shame they couldn't keep AZA since it was lost for reasons not directly related to animal care.
Great video as always Tom ! I hope you can come back to New York State again to check out these other zoos . Utica Zoo The Wild Animal Park in Chittanango NY Seneca Park Zoo in Rodchester
Great video again. Diversity of Birds had a Bleeding heart dove, Inca terns, pied imperial pigeon, Roseate spoonbill, Victoria crowned pigeon (as you said) in it, from what I could see.
I guess I'm not the only one who keeps an African spurred tortoise . His name is Herman and he's almost 40 . Unfortunately the weather is chilly yet for him to be outside; yet we've had an unusual winter . Those warm days it's good to see him outside .
That's great, African spurred tortoises are great animals. Florida Winter is nothing compared to most others but it does get too cold for Sheldon some nights.
One of my favorite zoos to go to here in New York. Although I will say I miss when they had mandrills (I would have loved to see them in the Primate Park exhibit). Hopefully they’ll bring them back sometime in the future, I’m also hoping that one day they decide to add an Indian rhino either in with the white lipped deer or along the hillside with the takin and markhor.
@ Yes three times, although I haven’t been since 2016. I’m dying to not only go to Bronx Zoo again, but check out Central Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, and New York Aquarium
I was there in July. I really enjoyed it. The siamangs and the Elephants especially were a lot of fun.
Have you ever been to the Ross Park Zoo before

Thank You, I will be heading back there later this year. I'll see if any of those suggestions are near to where I'll be.

Are you going to the poss park zoo next and the Leigh valley zoo after that next Tom
He's already been to those but yes they will be
Both zoo vids will be available soon.
I love Red Panda
I want to go back to that zoo so badly
I can totally understand that, it's a very fun zoo. Hopefully you'll get back for another visit someday ☺️

Tom I liked the baby ducklings, the meeerkats. The fennec fox and the North American river otters
I love to be involved with animal people !
The southern tamandua might have been on the top
And also the grey wolf and like the information on the animal signs
Did they have a lot of hills to walk up or an incline?
There are a few inclines but it's not too steep
1:10:12 what happened with audio
It seems the audio was rendered incorrectly. You are the first person to mention there was an audio problem. Sorry about that 😕
Yep ! Herman weighs over 280 lbs . now . WHEW !!!
Did you know that before they had Takins their exhibit used to belong to Guanacos
Both are pretty rare to see in zoo's. I am not sure if I've even come across Guanaco yet.
Tom are you ever planning to go to zoos in Canada, South America,or Mexico
I hope to one day
Did you know before the Bactrian Camel exhibit it used to be the American Bison exhibit but the Bison got shipped to private farms
That's too bad, I'd rather see the Bison. As long as they went to a good home.
@@TomsRoadTrippin so would I but Camels are cool too
I are interested coming to my Halloween light show and Christmas lights show
Light shows are awesome 😁
Did you know that before the Komodo Dragons the exhibit used to be the former Indian Peafowl exhibit
Komodo dragon are a much better fit for that habitat.
@@TomsRoadTrippin thats true Peafowl should be roaming free
Yes, most zoo's allow them freedom to roam.
@@TomsRoadTrippinunless the Zoo suspected fowl play with the Peacocks
@@TomsRoadTrippin I bet the reason for that was because they suspected fowl play
Also did you know that before the Amur Leopards that exhibit used to house African Lions until the last one died out
