  • Hi All,
This will be our new series - Ch. Sambhajinagar.
This was the First day of short trip. We explored local places in Sambhajinagar .
    1. Panchakki :
Panchakki, which translates to "water mill", is a water mill complex in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. It's located in the center of the city, close to Bibi ka Maqbara.
The water mill was designed to generate energy by using water from a mountain spring. It's a good example of how renewable energy was used in the medieval era for water storage, grinding grains, and space conditioning. The mill's name comes from the grinding mill that used to grind grains for pilgrims.
    2. Soneri Maal :
Soneri Mahal is a historic monument located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India, situated in the Satmala mountain range. It is located in the vicinity of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. It currently houses the Maharashtra State Museum for Aurangabad.
Historical records suggest that Shah Jahan sent Pahadsingh and Jhunjharsingh to the Deccan region. During Aurangzeb's rule, Pahadsingh, with his valor and strategic skills, had demonstrated his loyalty to the Mughal Empire, with Pahadsingh relocating it to in Aurangabad in the Aurangzeb era. This historical account is further supported by the existence of a memorial dedicated to Bhau Lala Hardaul, a brother of Pahadsingh, on the outskirts of the building.
    3. Aurangabad Caves :
The Aurangabad caves are twelve rock-cut Buddhist shrines located on a hill running roughly east to west, close to the city of Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The first reference to the Aurangabad Caves is in the great chaitya of Kanheri Caves. The Aurangabad Caves were dug out of comparatively soft basalt rock during the 6th and 7th century.
The caves are divided into three separate groups depending on their location: these are usually called the "Western Group", with Caves I to V (1 to 5), the "Eastern Group", with Caves VI to IX (6 to 9), and a "Northern Cluster", with the unfinished Caves X to XII (9 to 12).[2]
    4. Bibika Maqbara :
The Bibi Ka Maqbara is a tomb located in the city of Aurangabad in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It was commissioned in 1660 by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's son prince Azam Shah in the memory of his loving mother Dilras Banu Begum (posthumously known as Rabia-ul-Durrani). It bears a striking resemblance to the Taj Mahal, the mausoleum of Aurangzeb's mother, Mumtaz Mahal. Aurangzeb was not much interested in architecture though he had commissioned the small, but elegant, Moti Masjid at Delhi. Bibi Ka Maqbara is the second largest structure that Aurangzeb has built, the largest being the Badshahi Mosque.
