Lyrics: Love rising from the mists Promise me this and only this Holy breath touching me, like a wind song Sweet communion of a kiss Sun sifting through the grey Enter in, reach me with a ray Silently swooping down, just to show me How to give my heart away Once a crystal choir Appeared while I was sleeping And called my name And when they came down nearer Saying, "Dying is done" And a new song was sung Until somewhere we breathed as one And still I hear they whisper Stars bursting in the sky Hear the sad nova's dying cry Shimmering memory, come and hold me While you show me how to fly Sun sifting through the grey Enter in, reach me with a ray Silently swooping down, just to show me How to give my heart away Lately sparkling hosts Come fill my dreams, descending On fiery beams I've seen 'em come down clear Where our poor bodies lay Soothe us gently and say "Gonna wipe all your tears away" And still I hear they whisper Love, rising from the mists Promise me this and only this Holy breath touching me, like a wind song Sweet communion of a kiss
I miss you so much, Mama. It’s been 5 months since I last heard your voice but I hear it in my head every day. You are my heart and my soul and I will miss you for the rest of my life.
I’ve loved this song since I was 16. and I’m now a Grandad. Judee Sill was a unique musical talent and this an incredible version 💞Thank you so much for the care and attention and love you put into this performance Susanne Sandler….xxx
I've just recently discovered judee sill and its so amazing and heartwarming to go through the internet and see the different contemporary artists i have known for years do covers or even just talk about how her music inspires them. Its like following a subtle golden thread that ties together artists i would otherwise find no other connection between.
It's interesting to hear the differences in Judee's voice with absolutely no inflections, just long beautiful notes and your version with a lot of inflections and modulations. Both, beautiful. Great Job.
There are a few good cover of this song, but i have to agree with you. This is amazing! The Feeling, temper and soothing are all in the right places in this cover. If you ask any musicians, this song is quite complex to get right in a good fashion. its a complex song. Sundfør here is no stranger to perform daring songs. She did Scott Walker at the Prom, and she killed it! And there are very very few whom have the guts cover Scott's material.
This song blows the Mount Rushmore of songs away-Hey Jude- Judees’s heart is deep inside every precious one of her songs she is the Emily Dickensen of popular songs.
Excellent Susanne. Absolutely excellent. Keeping an old & for some people obscure song alive & well. You do Judee Sill's song justice. In a fair world, this song would be a standard throughout the world. There are many lesser songs that are -- but this song is marvelous. Your version is superb.
I really wish Judee Sill could hear this version. So beautiful. One of the true tragic figures of music who never truly got her due (particularly in her lifetime). And I love Susanne Sundfor too so I knew I would like this. And I should have known she is a Judee Sill fan. Because thinking back on the song “ Memorial” that reminds me so much of a song Judee could have written.
Thank you Susanne, for taking up one of the most beautiful singer/songwriters the world has known. And a wonderful person who deserved so much more....
Winter Bird maybe you know what's happening with Susanne Sundfør? From October 31 there is no information about concerts, no posts on FB, Instagram, etc.
Unfortunately I haven't seen any updates from her either since the release of her Bobbie Gentry cover back in January: th-cam.com/video/fXbGxxIsa5k/w-d-xo.html Well, Röyksopp also released a track featuring her vocals in April, but it's an oldie recorded in 2014. Has been available through unofficial means for a while, so not really newsworthy despite the recent official release: th-cam.com/video/MOMksSfRb9w/w-d-xo.html She's always been a media-shy artist, but it's still unlike her to disappear for so many months without a word. She's usually booked for a bunch of festivals around this time of the year, so it's a bit unexpected that not a single date has been announced yet. With seemingly no new album to promote in the near future it's understandable if she decides to drop festivals and promo tours altogether this year though. It proved difficult for her to make MFPIT work in front of the festival crowds last year. She didn't seem to enjoy "forcing" herself to play so many older songs to please the crowds, so I don't see her wanting to repeat that experience. It was a big contrast to her concert hall shows which were built entirely around MFPIT, with no songs from other albums on her setlist. Hopefully she's doing well and has simply been busy producing and searching for inspiration for new music. She said she was "off to new adventures" at the end of the MFPIT tour, so she might not plan on returning to touring until her next album is finished. Only time will tell. *_Edit on June 4, 2019:_* It has come to my attention that she's featured on Morten Myklebust's new song 'Bad Timing' which is out on June 7, 2019. You may already be familiar with 'Away', the duet they did together back in 2012, if not I highly recommend to check it out: th-cam.com/video/36QgURo2Qhk/w-d-xo.html
@@winter_bird thank you for such a comprehensive answer. I'm been following Susanne for only about a year and I'm very impressed with her talent and wide musical sensitivity. I wish Susanne not be under any pressure from the music market, but I would like her to show at times what is playing in her soul.
@Andrea Williams I am pleased that you asked me. Unfortunately, I don't know what effect the lockdown has on Mrs. Susanne. Lack of information is usually good information. I hope she enjoys a beautiful spring and spends some time in his studio sipping coffee and composing . I don't know what are the plans for 'Sleepwalking'. Maybe when all the turmoil in the world is over, she will sing this beautiful song at a concert with a piano accompaniment. I also sometimes want Mrs Susanne to give signs of life more often. I also want her to be able to indulge freely in her compositions without any pressure. She is probably a very sensitive person with great imagination. For an artist like her, sometimes there is also a heavy burden. He has been doing great so far and uses his talent nobly. th-cam.com/video/7uHbyqaucas/w-d-xo.html
Andrea Williams I think Sleepwalking is going to be in her next album. She always sings a few songs long before their actual release. For instance, she sang The Sound of War at Spellmann in 2016 ( if I rememberers correctly), and she released Reincarnation late in 2016. So I’m guessing she could probably drop her next album by the end of the year if everything goes well.
Compared to the original this version has quite a lot of lot ornamentations in both melody and accompaniment. Judee Sill also sung without vibrato, I prefer the simplicity of the original.
Lyrics:
Love rising from the mists
Promise me this and only this
Holy breath touching me, like a wind song
Sweet communion of a kiss
Sun sifting through the grey
Enter in, reach me with a ray
Silently swooping down, just to show me
How to give my heart away
Once a crystal choir
Appeared while I was sleeping
And called my name
And when they came down nearer
Saying, "Dying is done"
And a new song was sung
Until somewhere we breathed as one
And still I hear they whisper
Stars bursting in the sky
Hear the sad nova's dying cry
Shimmering memory, come and hold me
While you show me how to fly
Sun sifting through the grey
Enter in, reach me with a ray
Silently swooping down, just to show me
How to give my heart away
Lately sparkling hosts
Come fill my dreams, descending
On fiery beams
I've seen 'em come down clear
Where our poor bodies lay
Soothe us gently and say
"Gonna wipe all your tears away"
And still I hear they whisper
Love, rising from the mists
Promise me this and only this
Holy breath touching me, like a wind song
Sweet communion of a kiss
Speechless......
Great cover of a great song by a wonderful artist by an equally great artist.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Thank you Judee Sill.

I'm so glad people are covering Judee Sill, keeping her music alive. Especially my favorite, this song. Wonderful version.
Glad somebody has the good taste to cover Judee Sill.
Beautiful ❤
Can't get enough of Susanne's singing
Possibly the finest cover version I've ever heard of anything by anyone.

Absolutely stunning and incredibly beautiful version of Judee’s song. The best I’ve heard so far.

sigh...
Wonderful version but not quite equal to the original
Nope...
Nope. Technically very good. Not feeling the emotional connection of the original.
