Thanks so much for this! It's so awesome getting more frequent videos from you, one small upside of quarantine I guess.
How did you get to use the studio you're in?

It’s one of the satellite locations of Ballet West. They are very kindly letting Chris and I use it. He has a key, and no one is around. We are being very careful but are SO grateful to have it!

I wish I had a teacher like you when I was starting pointe. My teacher rushed us through the basics so we didn’t have the strength to go to center and when we did go to center is was super unstable and scary. I wish would have stuck with barre more and just working with the shoes.

    • @kathryn_morgan

Thank you! Yes that’s so important. I was fortunate that we never left the barre for 6 months when I first started.

In my opinion slow exercises are the best because you really have to focus and the muscles work in the correct way. You can control everything and you learn really well.

I loved it when you said “Harry Potter should help.” Whenever I do one of your barres and center videos, I’m always mentally singing the lyrics to all the songs I recognize from musicals, operas, Disney movies, etc. 😛 Great video as always!

Thank you ❤ My pointe shoes have been in my drawer for years because I never got to take another pointe class since then!
I am a "slow learner" (I even concluded my feet weren't compatible with pointe 😂). Others were starting to walk around while I was still struggling to go on pointe! This is my opportunity to try again 🤗

I just got en pointe a few weeks ago and honestly being able to do everything in this video is such an acomplishment since I'm a bit of a late pointe starter (I wanted to master flat). I can't tell you how much I appreciate this and I love how thorough you are with explaining how and why we do each excercise. Thank you ❤❤

I'm a beginner (started in August, but only had like 8 classes because of lockdowns). This video is great. The first time I got just until the coupé relevé before everything started hurting and I was not doing it properly anymore. And one day I'll be hopefully able to do the last two moves too!

Managed the first 20 minutes of it. It was very hard. I did it in flat as well, the whole thing and I think it helps getting strength. Will do it many more times on flat and what I can on Pointe. Thank you Kathryn.

Thank you so much for this workout! I have been using the video from 2017 to keep my feet in shape during this pandemic. This is a great addition. I especially like the "what are your shoulders doing?" Perfect timing, I was using mine as earrings right then. Plus the exercises are slow enough I can work on placement. Thank you again!

I am an advanced beginner. I do all the combinations twice. First time facing the barre and second time facing to the side. Then I do first 25 minutes of the intermediate pointe to finish. I find this perfect combo for my level and am seeing improvements in my feet and never ever find it boring. I am not a ballet person but I do dance and love love doing pointe barre.

KathrynMorgan you are an excellent dancer !
My mom and sister’s danced for years and one of my brothers became a pro. and now
    he teaches.
I’ve lost more weight and now I’m interested in using the energy.
I needed to stop ballet due to a health condition so I never made it to pointe (or reached my goal).
Do you think a woman that wares flat. ballet shoes could start over? Yes pointe work is tougher than flat work!
And it does take strength from the whole body to reach pointe !
Plus body alignment. It, would take longer maybe a lot longer to balance when bringing feet together .
With a1/4in.strip of elastic mom and sisters said it kept their pointe shoes on.cause ribbons were threaded through.
People say yould never fit your flat shoes around your orthotics! let alone pointe shoes .I say what about 2 more
loops of elastic for shoes toward the back so ribbons could run through all 3 loopholes and more tighter to keep feet more still inside the orthotics and shoes
Nevertheless flat ballet shoes don’t come vary high around the heel and the inside string does need tightened..
I know theirs all kinds of injuries, pulled muscles,

I am just starting pointe again as a 40-something adult and was very excited to find your video! I have access to plenty of adult ballet classes in my area which have prepared me very well, but no adult pointe classes right now due to covid limitations. I used to be on pointe as a teen for 4 years and your video is a great reminder of all the barre exercises my ballet teacher used to make us do. This is so helpful! But I want to level up to your Intermediate/Advanced class, but it's really hard. What do you recommend?

  • @carolday3381
    @carolday3381 3 ปีที่แล้ว

This is so cool! I don't dance, but i have had back issues and a lot of work done that i am looking for ways to retrain my stabilizer muscles etc for posture. I thought of ballet and only wanted the exercises not dance training (sorry). But i couldn’t handle actual dance training. Nothing available here i was told for me so gave up that idea. Fast forward covid, bored up pops a feed on pointe shoe fitting, how interesting and that led to your video here popping up! Why i didn't think to see if any ballet exercise videos were on youtube before i don't know. This is perfect. I can do these at home slowly, at my level, (and without pointe shoes) and if i have a bad day i don’t have to feel bad i am missing a paid for class, i can pick up when the body says ok. (When my SI spasms it can be months before I’m safe to do stuff) Maybe I’ll even develop some killer shapely ballerina legs too, I’m down for that. Just wanted to say thanks from a non dancer, i see much value here for me too. I’m thinking for a barre i could use my dumb doorway chin up bar at torso height. (If i still have it) That should be good to hold. I am going to go check our your channel and search for hopefully more basic exercises but in meantime, i assume when you go up on pointe i can modify by going up on balls of feet making sure weight balanced between the big toe and second toe? Thank you again, and stay safe.

Hello, Ms. Kathryn! Thank you for such an informative video. ❤️
Question about the sus-sous--adjusting front leg slightly to the side, then plié:
Do you do the same technique (slightly moving front leg to the side) when asked to do sus-sous, come down to fifth in straight legs?
Again, thank you so much for all that you do. I am such a fan ❤️

nice. Do you have any video advising exercises to help correct lordosis to avoid jamming hip in socket and over tuck pelvis?
