The best illustration of how powerful his rendition of the song was, is the complete and total SILENCE throughout the entire song. If not for his voice, you could hear a pin drop. And he had them so enraptured, they almost forgot to clap. The song ends, and there was still dead silence for a few seconds. That's called "owning your audience." And this is still the best cover of "Creep: I've ever heard anyone come up with. Great song choice to react to. This deserves to be brought up every once in a while, just to remind people how good it really is.
I love it when a performance is so good that the audience is stunned into silence for a moment before exploding into applause. Then you KNOW it was an extraordinary performance.
When a singer is singing and there is nothing but silence because everyone is captivated....they knocked the performance out of the park. I don't see it that often on tv where there is nothing but silence during the performance. But Brian is an amazing singer!
Glad you have been introduced to Brian. This was the Judges Cut, the second audition. His first audition was Somebody to Love by Fabulous Freddy and Queen. Brian does a fabulous cover of it. An artist you have to watch is Paolo Nutini doing Iron Sky {Live Abby Road} The speech is Charlie Chaplin from his movie The Great Dictator.
In the couple of decades these shows have been popular, I have found that it it is far more rare for the "winners" to have lasting commercial success than it is for those that "placed well".
felt the SAME EXACT way when Adam Lambert didn't win his season an American Idol...would LOVE to see your reaction to some of his performances on that show!!! Brian pulls out the emotion from everyone..even the hardest of hearts would feel nothing listening to this rendition!! YOU, Maggie, are so beautiful and precious...don't ever change!!!
I love the ohooo after his first creep part and I love the way it goes up up up in feeling and loudness. I think he should have won and would like to see and hear more of his gift.
First time I watch this, I was really surprised, I didn't see it coming, I mean, the start was so smooth, and then all that power, that passion!! Wow, he should have won that year competition!! Great reaction and yes, I miss you on that song too!!
I really love Brain justin crum Voice its so Amazing Hes definitly my Favorit Singer Ever. 💙 Love your Reaction maggie B-E-A-U-TIFUL Squad all the way. Love U ❤️

Have you reacted to Eva Cassidy? She may be the best singer of all time who never had a record contract. I would start with her cover of "Somewhere over the rainbow" which she performed live at Blues Alley. It was voted as one of the top 100 singing performances of all time in a British poll.
He said that his goal was to make people feel the music. I feel sympathy for people who aren't able to experience music intimately... Every note...every chord...every beat. To be able to enjoy not just the sound but feel the energy. Music has been with humanity since the beginning... it has been a form of communication since creation. I'm blessed that I have a connection with it. 🥰
When I saw Crum sing this the first time I was speechless. Such an amazing voice. You really should check out his video with Janel Parrish from Dancing With the Stars. “Lay Me Down.” So darn good.
He came in fourth, behind a 12-year-old girl who wrote her own songs and played the ukulele (she won), a couple who did a mentalist act, and an NFL guy who did magic - I haven't watched AGT since >.
One of the best performances this show has ever seen. I don't always agree, but I don't watch the whole series. AGT is a hard one to judge the best as you can have one singer up against a 30 dancers or an acrobat couple against a magician. The hardest top 2 would have been Darci Lynne (Ventriloquist/Singer) vs Angelica Hale (Singer). Have you heard/watch either of them Maggie?
This was a great performance. Would love to see your reaction to Calum Scott's "Dancing on my Own" from Britain's Got Talent. That is probably the best audition ever.
The 5th panelist there was brought in to judge because Simon thought another act should get a Golden Buzzer. The Panelist is George Lopez and he gave his Golden Buzzer to another act earlier on this show. Can Opera singers judge Janis Joplin, Macy Gray, Mary Anne Faithful, Bonnie Tyler, Rod Stewart, Van Morrison or Ray Charles? Bob Dylan's first tour of England all the Newspaper music review reporters mocked him and asked him questions like "can you sing like Pavarotti?"
I remember getting chills as I listened back in 2016 but I voted for Grace and not because of her age! Liken Bridge was also great that year. I’ve been waiting since then to see him live - still waiting…
I absolutely loved Grace, but she was partly a phenomena because of her age - and yes, absolutely a unique voice... not to mention she wrote her own music at age 12. Then they asked her to sing her original song that got her own the show for the final - and she refused. So, yeah - I think I can understand why she won (today I'm not as sure about her future, but she's still a great artist I'm sure). Meanwhile, Brian definitely could have won at any other time, on many different shows, but your right about Idol and other shows, they tend to follow the trending elements of their own show, which they in part create. If that made sense. Thanks Maggie. I moved! Living with the grandson.
It was already set that she was going to win before the show she was given the win she didn't even have to do anything because it was proven that Sony music paid for her win not really a fair win so anyone who has to pay for a win isn't really a winner at all Brian should have won hands down bottom line
I am a bit late to the game here but on your reference to these shows the ones (mostly who come in 2nd or 3rd place usually have deals and the first place people you hardly ever here from yet the other two have platinum records. For example Daughtry he was on one of these shows and ASKED to be voted off so he could join is now band as the lead singer. Other examples, One direction and Fifth harmony came in 3 both of them I believe. They already had record deals.
What a voice, stage presence and talk about breath control, wow, would rival the best and most seasoned professional singers. Such power and emotion, simply epic. He does a lot of covers from a lot of different artists that are arguably better than the originals, including this one. Just mesmerizing. But unfortunately he didn’t win the competition but has done well anyway.
Brian’s voice is a true gift from The Almighty 🙏. His version of any song he sings is outstandingly beautiful. They say, behind every great man is a great woman, and his mom certainly is his greatest supporter. Just from her interview, you can tell the ❤️ she has for her son and vice a versa. When singers take on an iconic song, it’s always a huge gamble. But if you can take that song, not only doing justice, but making it as great in their own way is the sign of pure genius. Artists cover iconic songs all the time, but 98% of them can’t even come close to making it sound like a great version of the classic That’s the risk. I’ve only heard a few songs where I felt the Artist nailed it. This is 1 of them. Other fantastic covers are Nine Inch Nails Hurt sung by Johnny Cash, Shinedown’s version of Simple Man by the LEGENDARY Lynyrd Skynyrd and Disturbed’s version of The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel. All are great. Even though Disturbed’s David Draiman sings really Heavy Metal, he was trained to be a Cantor in his Jewish Faith. When he sings songs that aren’t Heavy Metal, you can hear the unbelievable pipes (opera/Cantor) he truly has. He also did a great rendition of Genesis’s Land of Confusion.
I would love to hear your thoughts on “Summer Moved On” by A-ha. Morten Harket had a worlds record (since broken) for the longest sustained note at 20.8 seconds. A more complex song than Take On Me. It was released in 2000.
I absolutely love this performance. I can watch it over and over again and still get goosebumps. Please check out Britain's Got Talent's Alice Fredenham performing "My Funny Valentine". She's really good too. 😎👍
He was clearly the best singer. But a little 12-year-old girl who wrote her own original music and lyrics for the 4 songs that she performed on the show with a quirky delivery and an amazing presence and charm, beat him out in the end to win the show.
This is my fav version of this song! Brian is a great singer. This was also the year Tapeface and Sofie Dossi competed. While having very different acts, these would have been my top 3 that year.
BRIAN WAS GREAT BUT HE WAS BEATEN BY A 12 YEAR OLD GRACE VANDERWAAL, A 12 YR OLD GIRL THAT SANG ALL ORIGINAL SONGS (NORMALLY A KISS OF DEATH IN THESE COMPETITIONS) IMO THE JUDGES GOT IT RIGHT, GRACE WAS A PHENOM.

I would like you as an opera singer to react to Matt Corby - 'Brother' (live for Like A Version) it will be one of the best you have heard Just like Brian
I remember when Brian lost, I was so angry, for him, because he totally deserved to win. The winner was a young girl, cute as a button, with a ukulele. Late to the party here, but it still burns that a squeaky young girl (as cute as she was then), actually won over Brian. Disgrace. He stood out from everyone that season. To totally silence the usually noisy audience like that is magical. Spellbound, with three seconds of silence when he finished was huge. Just my take, folks.
No they aren't a load of bull. Do you think Simon is going to put out all that money to produce these shows just to let a guy he can't make any money off of win? He lets singers appear on the shows so he can grab the Aguilera's and Taylor's before Sony or Columbia does and Brian has made squat in the 6 years since he's been signed
Hey Maggie Renee, I think you should react to Angelica Hale. She was first on AGT at the age of 9 and finished after she turned 10 years old. That was in 2017. She was so good even at that age. I think her best performance was Clarity which was the first live show performance but any of them would do. She also did a great rendition of Stone Cold at the age of 12.
The best illustration of how powerful his rendition of the song was, is the complete and total SILENCE throughout the entire song. If not for his voice, you could hear a pin drop. This is certainly one of my to 5 performances in any kind of music I ever heard👏👏👏🤘🤘🤘🤘And for sure the best cover of this amazing song 🤘👏🤘
He actually played in an episode of Law & Order SVU season 12 episode 12!

Brian is just plain amazing! I've never heard a single performance of his that was anything less than wonderful. Loved your reaction.
Talent show with a singing focus, are not about finding the best voice but they try to find a product that middle America will buy :-).
Love him so much ❤
