Obsessed with thrifting and the vintage feels behind them. I love the idea of someone loving the same piece as I do and how they have a history with that item!

    Here’s a story for you:
So my whoooole family and I go on a camping trip every summer to the same park and when I was 16 one of the park rangers was this really cute boy so of course my dad caught this park ranger later as he was doing his rounds, found out he was in college and told him to stay away from me 😂😂
Fast forward to 1 1/2 years later - I’m starting college and have Spanish class. I walk in on the first day and he’s there! I didn’t recognize him right away but knew he looked familiar. We started hanging out daily and became inseparable. After a few weeks we figured out finally why we knew each other!! He remembered my dad when i brought him home to meet my parents (how EMBARRASSING). Flash forward to us moving in together and moving to a new town together. He proposed to me during my first year of teaching IN FRONT OF MY WHOLe SCHoOL!
It’s been a little over six years since that Spanish class and we just got married this summer ❤️.

Love you so much Alex! My favorite thing about my past is that I was lucky enough to be able to attend overnight summer camp for many years during my childhood. I had the opportunity to not only met campers from all over the area but the camp also had special programs from burn survivors, Tourette’s syndrome, diabetes and children with disabilities. Also the entire camp staff were all from countries all over the world. I learned so much and had so many unique and amazing experiences there. It was amazing and something I’ll never forget

Hey Alex! Thanks again for sharing all those outfit ideas, not that I am copying hum hum... 😂😂
Here is the story/anecdote I wanted to share with you:
A couple years ago, right after my grandma passed away, my grandfather decided to move out of his longtime house to a smaller apartment right next to us. With my father, after months of denial, we finally decided it was time to sort out my grandmother's clothes. She was a really elegant woman. She always had a French manucure, put on makeup, and had a special outfit for every occasion. She would "take hours" as my grandfather always said to prepare herself. I guess that's something she passed on to me too although I am more tomboyish haha. While we were going through her wardrobe, we came across the most bizarre pieces of clothing one can imagine (especially the ones from the 80s with those shoulder pads). One of the favorite items we found was her pair of bright pink silky pyjamas pants that had big roses prints on them. With my father we laughed so much when we saw them. They looked so extravagant. Unfortunately, as we lived in a small apartment, I could only take a few things. I took some of her dresses and scarfs, especially the ones that I had seen her wear. The rest was given away. Months passed and one day with one of my friends I went for the first time to a thrift store. We both wanted to buy big jean jackets. As I was wandering through the store, I came across a section with a pile of diverse things and what a suprise when I found the pinky pyjamas bottom again. I thought I would never see them again and this time I didn't let them go. I had felt so bad for letting some of her stuff, some parts of her. So for me thrift store are really a special place. I guess it's like the Macklemore and Ryan Lewis song says "I'll wear your granddad's clothes, I look incredible." Well the answer for me is yesss! Each piece has story and needs to be able to live again. @ani.malistic

My ‘story’: not really a story but mostly a piece of clothing that means a lot to me & that I’ll keep forever. Some people don’t realize how important a shirt, for example, can be. My dad owns draft horses so ever since I was 5 years old I would go to horse pulls with him where he would compete or even just go to watch. Each year he would give me his flannel to wear once it got cold and even though it was way too big for me I loved it and always asked for that specific one. Each year I would wear that flannel when we traveled to fairs and over time I became very attached to it. My dad is my best friend and he’s not always the best at expressing his emotions (I get that from him) but he knew how much it meant to me and it reminded me of him and our time together throughout the years. Once I got older and couldn’t go with him anymore because of work, school, etc he gave me his flannel. I’m 21 now and of course still have it & whenever I’m missing my dad I put it on and it brings me back to when I was younger!
Thought it’d be a good story to tell considering it’s a haul video and the flannel now has both his memories and mine.

When I was young I lovedddd making my own shirts; tie-dye, using fabric paint, etc. so I’ve always wondered when I donate them, (kinda like you said) if someone has found them and bought them or something. I think that would be so neat.

I love these thrifting hauls! I also love thrifting myself and always find amazing things. A few months back I found a grey Brandy Melville oversized sweater for $10 or less. I couldn’t believe it. It’s one of my favorite lounging sweaters.
Hmm...one of my favorite stories would be from a few years back when I did a solo trip to Washington. I got off the plane had my rental car and was really hungry I had been dying to try out the Italian restaurant in Port Angeles from the Twilight movie and when I got there it was closed 😂 I was kinda bummed but I loved driving around and seeing all the scenery and things can be so different in other places. At least I got to buy a few things to remember it by.

My mother and I also always try to go thrift shopping when we get together. She lives about an hour and a half away and I am in university, but whenever we get the chance, we go to Plato's or goodwill together. It is such a blast, especially with other people with you. My favorite thing is when she finds stuff she thinks I will like and gets so excited and brings it to me.

  • @mckenzie4129
    @mckenzie4129 6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

I wouldn't say this is much of a story but more of how I changed with thrifting. My mom use to take me to goodwill all the time! It was the number one place she would go to shop for us 7 kids. We would spend hours in there while my mom searched every article of clothing. Considering we went every week, it made me HATE thrifting so much that I would end up staying in the car and taking a nap. Now that I've moved out I seem to find myself at thrift stores all on my own!😂 I love finding vintage styles like Tommy, Nike, Calvin, or any giant sweaters or baggy shirts I can crop😁 I love watching your videos on your style because it gives me inspiration on a couple of my own outfits. Keep doing what you love Alex!

    Here's my story for you!
I went to Boston this past weekend to visit some friends going to school there. Me and my friend who go to school in New York took the bus over and we went to the Boston Commons. We were walking along the bridge and we ran into some old friends from high school. It was a crazy coincidence that we were all at the park at the exact same time and place. We haven't seen them since graduation and it was really cool to catch up. It's kind of funny looking back at senior year of high school and all of us were stressing out about where we're going to college but we all ended up where we were suppose to. And now we can run into each other on the other side of the country in this new phase of our lives.

I had this huge crush on a boy at the beginning of my freshman year and everyone knew especially him. he was super nice to me and I thought he liked me back and I never stopped liking him all throughout the year. then, sophomore year, he asked me to hoco and I couldn’t have been more ecstatic. he was so beautiful lol. he told me he didn’t want to date (I was devastated), but a few weeks later we went ice skating and he asked me out then ahhhhhh

I was watching your pre-wedding video and was very moved by the bit about your grandmother giving you the last ring that your papa gave her. This reminded me of a ring that has been through a lot and passed down through my family for generations.
This story is a bit long, has many sad turns, and may sound unbelievable but it is worth the read!
So. My great great grandfather was a jeweler and he mad his and his wife's wedding rings. However, after his wife's death and many years struggling with depression he took his life. My great grandmother was left with the wedding rings but couldn't bare to either keep them or get rid of them so she had them melted down and made into a new ring which was passed down in my family as a confirmation ring.
When I was 16 this ring was given to me by my grandmother and I was told its story. Not only was it a very special ring, but it had become even more special because all of my grandmother's other family jewelry had recently been stolen (including her own wedding ring). Needless to say I was very excited to be given the responsibility of such an important piece of family history. While I wanted nothing more than to wear it, I knew I should probably keep it in a safe place until I was a little bit older and wasn't playing sports and doing other high school things. So, I put it in a pouch, in a little box, inside of my jewelry box where it remained for about a year.
*Important note - I had a foreign exchange student living with me for a few months during the summer.*
One day, my mother gets an email from said person's mother saying that my exchange student had found a ring in their bag and thinks that perhaps it was mine and it had slipped in there on accident when they were packing. My mother and I look at each other in disbelief and I run to my room to check and sure enough my pouch within a box within a chest is empty!
While neither of us for a second believed that it had "fallen" into their bag, we were grateful that it was going to be returned. My mother replied saying how important this ring is to our family and urged them to send it internationally as quickly as possible. Luckily, the ring was delivered safely and quickly and it is back in my possession.
I cannot believe how much this little ring has been through, and now I have quite the story to tell my future daughter when I pass it on to her someday.
Sorry this SO SO long but I thought you of all people would appreciate it Alex!

My family moved to Vancouver when I was 10 years old. The mountains are beautiful. You could go skiing in the morning and then go for a swim later in the afternoon. We went on so many road trips in and around Vancouver. My favorite was Tofino. There are also so many whales in the spring and bears. It's such a beautiful place and so different compared to Mtl.

    my story:
Not even a month ago, my sisters and I are washing up the dishes after dinner. Halfway through me and my twin sister start to get into an play fight, I go to hit her and no joke, f u l l f o r c e she hits me with her saucepan in the face, laughing it off we think nothing more and continue washing, until I feel something in my mouth, pausing I turn to my eldest sister and ask her if I've got a cut on my tongue, she proceeds to tell me THAT MY TWIN SISTER KNOCKED 3/4 OF BOTH OF MY FRONT TEETH I go to look at myself in the mirror and staring back at me is a country bumpkin. Long story short, I go to the dentist the next day and am able to get it filled in with a temporary filling. (thank god for the NHS) However just the day before we were doing self portraits in my Art Class in which my teacher compliments my teeth on how straight and white they are - Mrs C, if you're listening you jinxed it.

I don't know if that's really interesting but it's the first thing that popped in my head. I'm from the Caribbean and there are a lot of storms there from August all the way to October sometimes. I absolutely love storms. I love when I'm home and confy and all the lights are out and it's just some candles lit on. I remember whenever they would be a storm, my mom, my sister and I would go to my aunt and uncle's (they lived literally next door to our's) and we would spend the night playing board games, drinking cocoa, under piles of blanket. It wasn't cold per say but it was just that confiness that we loved, this being together. We would laugh so much with my cousins sometimes we would cover the sound of the thunder. These are my absolute most favourite memory because we were just so happy. I know storms can be scary and now that I'm older and sort of more aware of the disaster it can be I'm more scared of it. Irma and Maria hit us last year (definitely not as much as it hit Domica or Puerto Rico and so on, we were actually very lucky) and I remember being so scared but when I was a kid, I wasn't at all. My mum, aunt and uncle made sure that we would have fun. The fact that we were stuck inside was an excuse for them to create for us a whole new and safe world and I loved it.
I hope this story made you smile a little. It was meant to lol but I'm French so it's hard to convey things sometimes (It's hard in French too come to think of it lol) but yeah, that is my most favourite memory ever.
Thank you for doing this giveaway. It's so generous and kind I don't even know what to say.
Hope you're having a good day.

I love thrifting, it’s the best. As a kid my mom would always get me thrifted clothes then I started going with her and I just loved it soooooo much. I also wonder the story behind the pieces I buy, would love to know the back story. I think it would be so fun to thrift with you because I also love sweaters ahaha.
I went to this summer camp as a kid always then started working there, so I went there 12 years in total it was so crazy. I loved it so much and made so many friends. We used to go thrifting all the time. They had this thing called bag days and it was $2 and you could fill a whole shopping bag. the camp had setup encouragement partners every week so we would always get random little gifts from the thrift store to “encourage” them. my names Trina and my friends call me treeny so one time my best friend gave me a shirt that said “who’s your trinidaddy” and it was hilarious.

Going along with your video today a piece of clothing that means so much to me is my college sweater I got my freshman year. It reminds me of how hard I have worked to be the first in my family to go to college and make it. I come from an immigrant family that came the US before I was born. My parents worked so hard to put me through school and college that I hope one day I can give them back the world. Love you Alex !!!

I love your style Alex! The way you were talking about band tees sparked my story. I grew up listening to the same type of music as you. Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, all the classics! My dad is a musician and introduced me to the world of music. I have amazing memories with him taking long drives and singing along to whatever he had playing at the top of our lungs. He was in a band for a while and would let me tag along to practice sometimes, I would sit there in fascination watching them play. This all gave me such an appreciation for the art form that is music. I've been collecting old records that remind me of my childhood, it's a fun way to preserve these memories that I will cherish forever❤️

In 2016 I got a job offer to go work in America, in a special needs summer camp. I was so scared that I would hate it or be miserable being away from home. But it was the best thing I ever did. I got on a flight from London, England to JFK, New York and worked there for three months with the most amazing people I have ever met. Campers who have a special place for you in their heart, a bright smile on their face and SO much eternal love that it makes me emotional writing this. I went back for two years after that. Working with varying disabilities and likes of people. I met my best friends in the entire world and write to my campers all the time. I have a massive cork board full of photos because they are all such BEAUTIFUL human. Inside and out, I guess I feel honoured to be given the chance and to have had such an amazing, life changing experience.
I cannot wait to see your wedding video, it's so wonderful to see you so happy.

I was inspired by your euro trip to London, Paris, and Amsterdam, and that's exactly where I went in March, my first time to Europe! Funny thing was we ran into transportation problems everywhere we went.. from our flight home getting canceled, to not being able to pay for a bus, but the funniest thing was we even messed up with a bike in Amsterdam! We were so excited to get these bikes with the airbnb and we went to unlock them and one of them was hard to open... WELL the key BROKE OFF IN THE LOCK... Thankfully the owners lived in the building and the man was so nice! He tells us... oh that's NOT THE RIGHT BIKE ITS SOMEONE ELSES!!! Which had us freaking out but wow those guys know their stuff. He got it out and had 1 spare key for that lock not the other one... and we thankfully had a happy ending and rode our bikes around the city. Now we just look back and laugh at the silly situation!!! Also I am going to Ireland in 3 weeks... again inspired by your travels!!! Hope you get a good laugh.

I'm gonna talk about a sad story because i tend to remember sad events the most. Soooo, in elementary school, I was getting bullied so much that I would cry every single day because I didn't want to go to school. My parents literally didn't know what to do with me and how to help me. In middle school, things got a little bit better, but during the last year, I had a very serious injury and I couldn't play volleyball for like 2 months, so I was extremely upset. High school life started and that's when my mental state went downhill. My parents broke up during my first year of high school because my dad didn't have a job and my mum was tired of being the only one that brought money to the table. My sister wasn't affected so much, but for me it was my worst nightmare. I still stay at both of my parents' houses, but my personality has changed so much. I was always extremely shy and I got it from my dad actually, but after their divorce, everything was 92949504 times worse. I am now 19, a university student, extremely shy and introverted, suffering from extreme social anxiety, agoraphobia and claustrophobia, both of my parents have jobs and I work part-time but there are so many days when I have to starve because we can't even afford a loaf of bread(I live in Greece and we've been into this "financial crisis" for almost 10 years). Now, the best thing that has ever happened to me was actually a concert. I managed to travel with my mum and my sister from Greece to Germany to see my favorite kpop group called BTS literally a week ago. It was the best day of my life. I don't know how my parents found money to pay for this trip, but I think they managed to do it because I literally NEVER ask them for money. I never leave my house, I never go out, I never go shopping, I go from uni to my house and from my house to uni. I couldn't be more thankful to my parents. And probably my biggest goal in life is to pay them back one day. Not for the trip to Germany, but for how much money they have spent for me all these years. So yeah haha that's my story for you ❤

a story i would have to say would be how me and my friends last summer would go to our village discount store and we would spend hours there looking for good deals and then we would go home and cut or design everything and this video really reminded me of it.

Okay so the craziest thing that ever happened to me (true story you can probably look it up) so I was five and my brother was two and I was with my mom and my aunt and one of my friends who is 11 and we decided to go on a walk in the woods at my grandpas house and we got lost. We ended up walking for a couple hours until we got too tired and decided to find a place to sit and we ended up on a waterfall and it was freezing and we were screaming for help and finally we saw a helicopter but they couldn’t reach us because the trees were to tall. My mom took off most of her clothes to keep us warm and my brother was in my aunts pants because we was freezing. They all sat in a circle on a rock and sang “99 bottles of beer” while I sat holding my knees, socks wet, shivering and crying. While we were sitting on these rocks we saw a bear but luckily we sat still enough for it not to bother us. My aunt brought her pot bellied pig! We waited until about 4 o’clock in the morning until search and rescue finally got to us. They chopped trees down until they found us and took our temperature and told them I was the coldest person there (which was obvious). My dad was super worried cause he didn’t even know we went on a walk and always told my mom not to walk in those woods. We all got home safe but we were on the news “family of 5 stuck on water fall with their pot bellied pig”

Literally, when I see that you've uploaded a new video I get so happy because that is the highight of my day. Your videos distract me from anything going on in my life and you are the youtuber I feel I connect to in some sort of way. 💛💛💛
I am a person who holds onto a lot of memories and connects items to something in my life. Basically, I am a hoarder with too many stories to tell. One that relates to holding onto a piece of clothing is the story of my very special duck shirt. When I was around 4 or 5, in Kindergarten, I had a white and yellow shirt that had a duckling on the front of it. I don't know exactly why, but I loved that shirt so much and would want to wear it every day. Some mornings, I would throw a fit because I couldn't find it or it would be dirty, but nonetheless, that is the shirt I always wanted to wear. By the end of Kindergarten, my shirt's duckling had become crackled and was peeling off but I wanted to wear it for my Kindergarten graduation. My mom wanted to dress me up in a cute dress etc. but I just wanted my shirt. So, while everyone else wore nice outfits and dresses and skirts, I graduated so happily with my special duckling shirt and I have a couple of pictures of me with my balloons, cupcake, and my shirt on that day. So, since I was little, I have known that the most special things in your life are not the most expensive or even the nicest, but the ones that hold meaning. They may not be beautiful but all that matters is how you hold them close to your heart and how you don't change your mind about those special little things just because the people around can't understand. Hi Alex! Love your videos, congratulations on getting married! You two are a beautiful couple.
My little story time: First off, I am the WORST at telling stories off the top of my head. I have to be like right in that moment to tell a long story of my own. This kind of goes a long with the thrifting haul. I love thrifting and shopping at antique stores for furniture and little bits and bobs. I went shopping at this one antique store out of town when I was about 10, 11 (21 now) and ended up buying this beautiful rustic hand mirror that apparently (store employees words) was from the mid 1800's. It was like $2 or $3. I still have it til this day, I don't know what it is about it, i just can't get rid of it. I never even use it, but when I go through my things to donate to local thrift stores or charities, I find it... and I just CAN'T get rid of it. I would love to know the story behind that mirror. It has probably seen hundreds of faces. It's amazing to think about.
Thanks for being so generous Alex and what a creative idea to allow all of your subscribers to tell stories to you :)

This can be taken as a story or a feeling, but for me its such a strong, vivid memory of mine. I want to say it was two years ago during winter here in Calgary. Everything that existed at the time seemed so perfect, everyday I would watch the sunsets, they were the most beautiful during the winter. There was something about the blues and the purples that really spoke to my soul. Once the blue and purple hues washed out of the sky and slipped into a dark navy, all the stars would come out and I would spend hours on end sitting by my window having a conversation with the stars and space. It was something about the air, about the people I was speaking to at the time, where I was as a person that made me feel like I was in the right place. Music was more beautiful, people were more brilliant, the air was more still, and everything seemed so real. Winter is my favourite season. It brings out the best in me. I become more creative with my writing and photography, I become more aware of myself and I love more. It seems and comes across as very small but this feeling was so overwhelming in such a good way that it truly did impact me. It was the beauty that I found within those winter months that changed me. This may not be a story, but it was definitely a feeling that will always resonate with me, its a feeling I always look back at and wish and hope that, that feeling would come back again. I still have a long way to go, I pray that, that feeling will find me again and stay. That was when I felt most human, maybe not even human, but most in tune with myself and the universe. after all we are spiritual beings having a human experience.

I have a few shirts from my past that are like 15 years old that I will never get rid of. I don’t fit them anymore but one of them is a shirt my Dad got me that said “Hollister motorcycles” and it’s the sweetest memory because he knew I loved Hollister. It wasn’t actually made by the brand he just found it at a random shop. I’ll never forget his smile and how excited he was, girl I’m going to cry! Lol we never had a lot of money so getting something like that for me was exciting. ❤️

    Hey Alex,
So, something interesting that I thought was relevant to all of this is how much thrifting my Mum used to do with my brother and I!
She was a single mother for a really long time, so thrifting was a necessity- that she managed to make really fun! We used to go to Value Village for everyyyyything. I learned all my thrifting tricks from my mum, she has a killer style.
My favourite memory from thrifting was actually when we'd go for Halloween costume items (coincidence that it's almost Halloween now). My mum always hand made our costumes with items we'd buy at VV. One year I went as the tooth fairy- my mum found a really pretty flower girl dress from VV that was white, she made a pair of wings from hangers and white mesh ribbon and then she made a big tooth necklace. We found this princess wand and I looked like a glam- tooth fairy. It's honestly my favourite costume to this day xoxo

Hey Alex!😊 I’m a HUGE fan from Norway and I love your videos!❤️
    My dog-story:
When I was 8 years old I got an English springer spaniel-dog. His name is Bonzo and he is everything I ever dreamed of. I can talk to him about everything, when I’m sad or when I’m happy he is there, always. I’m always looking forward to getting home to him, because I know he will give me a warm welcome and a shoulder to cry on if I’m sad. It may sound a bit silly because he’s just a dog, but I find dogs much more reliable than people. When I was 10 years old I got another dog, a Chihuahua. Her name is Tinka, and she think she’s the queen in our house. But even tho she seems like a peculiar old lady, she is so heart warm and kind. They’re my best friends. It kills me every time I think of how many years I have to live without them when they’re gone. But I’d rather not think of it, and just live here in the moment with them.

I really liked what you said about how every clothing item has a story. It’d be really cool if we got to meet the person who previously owned it. Also I love all of your thrift finds omg I would love to go thrifting with you
My story: I own a lot of crewnecks too bc it gets real cold in Montreal so I feel u girl haha. One of my favourite crewnecks is the one that used to belong to my dad. It’s grey, super worn in and very oversized. I’m actually wearing it right now! I remember as a child, I used to be kinda embarrassed wearing hand-me-downs. But looking back, it was pretty silly and I wish that I wasn’t embarrassed. Now I’m proud to be able to wear my parents’ clothing. Not only are they actually really cute (and they fit me way better now that I’ve grown up haha) but also I think of them whenever I wear their old clothes. So it’s like they’re with me wherever I go. I can’t get these items anywhere so they’re truly one of a kind!

Last year I decided to up and leave my life in Canada and go to Ireland...but I think it was more to run away from my depression. It was a great trip but obviously running away from your feelings doesn't work. I wasnt there long but I came back to Canada and this year has been a struggle with trying different antidepressants and i know that for some people they are life savers but for me...they ruined me. It's been a very rough year so far. But i am off of the meds and and working on meditation and finding the little things that help my mood. Like lighting candles and having a bath.

Ever since your hair tutorial videos! A good memory would be when my favorite cousin came to stay with me for the summer and we would stay up late every night watching TH-cam videos back then I had the SLOWEST computer so we would wait like 30 minutes for the video to load, prank calling people, playing with makeup and so much stuff! I actually went back and rewatched your “Vlogtober videos” from last year on your other channel to get me in the mood for Fall haha :) my story is that I’ve only been to Quebec/Montreal once and it was this year. I didn’t get to explore the city because I flew up to pick up a dog that we rescued from Doha, Qatar. We have a Saluki (which is in the greyhound family). She was abandoned on the streets :( so we got in contact with a rescue group in Doha, Qatar and they were able to fly her to Montreal and we flew there to pick her up. We stayed in the hotel with our new pup and flew back home the next day! I hope to get back to Montreal soon for another visit !!!!! Thank you so much! You are a beautiful human, inside and out :)

A story from my past that relates to thrifting is I worked at my hometown’s Museum during my summer breaks from university. One time the Museum put on a jazz age exhibition and because I have a small frame the Curator (who is the cutest, wackiest woman I have ever met) would demand I put on the flapper dresses and “prance around.” I am LOLing because she would literally yell “now Jitterbug!” at me when I came out in the dresses and I would shimmy around while she clapped with glee. when i was younger my sister and i used to always go thrifting with my mom. We were shopping in Value Village and my sister and I found a beautiful bracelet. It came in a beautiful vintage box, the bracelet was red and had a chocolate kiss charm. The charm was clear but we loved it! when we got home we noticed a note from the original owner. The owner was located in France and we had more of an appreciation for it. The bracelet is meant for good luck.

One Time when i was about 16,i went thrifting with my best friend at a local thrift store, that only has super affordable womens clothing to support those who don‘t have a lot of money. They have a kitchen there as Well and twice a week volunteers cook a free meal for women in Need.
I tried on this really cute blue dress, which I was planning on wearing to my cousins wedding {btw, congrats again to yours !}.
This lady in her sixties came up to me and said that I really reminded her of her granddaughter, who apparently owned a similar dress. She was just the sweetest and we talked for quite a while, before she mentioned that she worked at the store and asked us if we wanted to help out for that nights free diner. So we helped her and all the other volunteering ladies prepare the diner and ate with a lot of other lovely women. We eben Played cardboard games and hat so much fun! We came back a lot afterwards and became good friends with some of them. These women taught me so much about life and i‘ll forever be grateful for them! Even though I moved two years ago, im still in contact with some of them.

My story is about getting engaged in Munich, Germany. My fiancé and I are both from the states and traveled to Europe for my first time this summer. We toured a castle in Bavarian country outside of Munich and went on a walk near a river with 2 tour guides (who were in on the surprises proposal because my fiancé planned it all before hand) as were walking up a beautiful trail we held our universities flag and took a picture. One tour guide was taking photos and another taking a video as he got down on one knee and proposed!! I had no idea but such a special moment that I’ll never forget. Love your videos Alex! Not sure if it’s much of a story but I just thought of a really good memory! I’m originally from Mexico but we moved to Ottawa when I was only 1. We actually moved again 6 years later because of my dads job but so many of my childhood memories are in Canada and it means so much to me!! I remember the first time my parents taught my brother and I how to skate, it was in a lake in the park behind our house and we used plastic kiddie chairs to keep our balance and I remember helping my mom plant so many tulips before winter and finally seeing the beautiful colours peek over the snow after such a long cold season (: There’s just so many happy memories that make me love Canada so much and although I lived in Miami for the rest of my life, I moved to Victoria last year for university and I’m so glad I did! It’s the best experience ever and everyone is so nice, I’m really looking forward to making a ton of new memories ❤️❤️
You’re so amazing for wanting to give back, I think it’s safe to say that none of us expect it from you at all but it’s such an admirable choice and I really appreciate it! Congrats on the wedding by the way!!

So a little story - Sad but also REALLY special and heartwarming!!
2 years ago I had a major surgery to remove tumours from my lower spine at the McGill Neurological hospital. It was a 14 hour surgery and they also fused four levels of my spine. For the few months prior I couldn't walk and my fiancee took AMAZING care of me. I was scared about the future and he reassured me and was there for me every step of the way! It was a tough experience but the love and appreciation that was given by him was outstanding. He knew what I needed before I ever did and loved me unconditionally from beginning to end. That kind of support - sleeping beside me in the hospital every single night and small things like getting me breakfast to big things like helping me learn to walk again - he really showed me what love truly was and I'm so completely thankful for the surgery because it made us stronger and showed me what compassion and caring he is able to give xo
I hope anyone reading this focuses on the love one person can give to another and how such beautiful things can happen in difficult times ❤

My favorite memory is when my big sister, my mom, my gram and I would all go to Little Sebago Lake in Maine because we had a camp there, and we would toast marshmallows, my mom would wash our hair with suave shampoo in the lake and we would stay out and swim in the rain/thunderstorm. And then my sister and I would come in lay on our beds next to eachother and play Pokémon while it was storming outside 😋 it was such a simple time and one memory I really hold onto for times I get down or sad.

Hi Alex! Firstly, congrats on becoming a WIFEY 💕☺️!
One of the stories I love to tell involves myself and my best friend! We love EVERYTHING to do with fall! We always get our pumpkin spice lattes, go to the local haunted houses, and most importantly the pumpkin patch. We would search long and hard for the perfect pumpkin! One year they had a “hay ride.” We thought it sounded like fun! Nothing wrong with two adult ladies wanting to partake in a little fall festivities, right? Well......the hay ride turned out to be a single donkey carting around a bale of hay, which we sat on...needless to say we didn’t get very far. I still feel so bad for that donkey! Don’t worry no animals were injured in this story! It was super embarrassing at the time but it was actually a story I told in the speech I read for her wedding this past September 😂☺️💕😍

As an eighteen year old I moved from away from Australia to live in Mexico for five months, not speaking a word of Spanish. Every Thursday we would go out into the community and do some outreach. And there was a little girl that I met there, who didn’t speak English, but I spent every Thursday afternoon with doing handstands and gymnastics. And those few hours every week are something I will never forget, how loving another person can cross a language barrier.

Lol I know you just said in this video you're not a sports person, but my story is about sports and my childhood. I grew up in Texas and my first sports game I went to was a Mavs game with my dad when I was 7. I moved away from Texas when I was 11 and have been moving around the East Coast since then. However, the tragedy is that I only really started loving the team after I moved away because it reminded me of my home and the wonderful people of Texas. The Mavs are in the Western Conference so they only ever come to play in East Coast cities once a season. I have tried to go to a Mavs game once every few years with my dad so we can connect both to each other and to our old home. The Mavs star player has been on the team since I was a baby, and he is finally going to retire this year. He is one of my idols and every one of my friends can tell you that I love him so much. I saw that the Mavs were coming to play in DC, the closest basketball city to me, in the middle of a school week, and I go to college 3 hours away from DC. I made it my mission to see my favorite player play one last game, so my friend and I drove 6 hours roundtrip on a school night just go to see him play. The best part about this story is that after the game (which we won!!!), I got to run next to the tunnel where the players leave and got a high five from my idol! I will never forget this crazy adventure I went on and the amazing payoff I received. I graduated from college this past year, and am currently taking a gap year before going to medical school, so this will likely be the only time I will have the means to travel back to Texas and see the Mavs play on their home court. This is my goal for the year! IG: @lillianweir

Heyy! Not really a story, but just a quirky little fact about myself. Since I was a little kid, I always collected little things as a memoir. Back then, as a little kid, I collected the most random items you could think of: sticks, leaves, ripped stickers, but I always thought they had meaning to them. Funny enough, I could always recollect the occasion that I wanted to remember- even if it was insignificant to others. Maybe it's my knack for remembering things or my interest in collecting items, or more likely a combination of both. Fastforward to now, I still have that habit of collecting little trinkets to remember the moment. As much as I enjoy taking pictures of events in my life, I mainly use it to post in social media. I really prefer tangible items as a means to look back and just recollect the past. I put all my trinkets and pictures of my family in a bag and I can't wait to look back at it 10 years down the road and just laugh at the past. I also bought a little box for my boyfriend, who has no clue that I did, but I can't wait to surprise him on a special occasion. I think we rely so much on technology that we forget to savor the moments and sometimes just taking a small little item is better than taking a million pictures. I REAALLY love the idea of thrift shopping whenever you travel because now you have a tangible item to look back at, plus its affordable, ecofriendly, and a fun little activity to take part in. Not sure if this is considered a 'story' but yeah lol.

Hi Alex, I loved this video... which is not that surprising because I love everyone of your videos lol. A few years ago I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. This is a happy story though I promise :)
I struggled for about 3 years going in an out of hospitals and appointments at the doctors. But on September 11th I met with a new therapist and I can honestly say it was the best day of my life. It was the day I gained hope again but this time I was determined not to lose it. 2 months on and I’m so much better. It upsets be to think that I was unable to live properly for 3 years but I can now say that I’m taking each day as it comes and trying to live life to the fullest. I plan to continue doing this for as long as I live.
Also for anyone reading this who is having a bad day I just want you to know, although it may feel awful and like you’ll always feel upset, low, angry or however you’re feeling, you will come out of it and you will feel better. Love you all 🥰

One of my favorite memories of my mom is from the time we were in Disney. I was probably a Junior in high school and my mom and I have always been super close and got along well. On this day, we were in Epcot, it was STEAMING hot, as Florida usually is; any ways, we all took to goofing around with splashing each other every time we would stop near a fountain. So, my mom and I are sitting on the edge of one in France, waiting for my dad and siblings to emerge from the store. We start goofing around and throwing water at each other, but not trying not to hit anyone else around us. One of us (we still aren't sure who) smacked the fountain head and spun it around so it started spraying out of the fountain on to all the people surrounding us. I didn't even know what to do. The horror of the mans face who was sitting next to us just sent me into a whole different world. I was seeing lights from trying to hold my nervous laughter in. We eventually came to and got up and booked it to the next country because we were so embarrassed. I seriously nearly peed myself from laughing that day. She's still one of my best friends and I'm so grateful to have a mom like her in my life.
    anyways, my instagram is: jennazifchock
also anyone is free to check my insta out, I'm really trying to build up some good content on there, so don't miss out!

I can't really think of an interesting story that has happened to me, but when my mom was a child, her and my grandparents lived in Missouri. If you aren't aware, Missouri gets really bad storms. Well, my grandfather had built an underground shelter for them to hide in for if they were to ever get a tornado. They had gotten a tornado warning and my grandfather made everyone get in the shelter just in case, but for some reason he didn't think one was coming. He was very stubborn. So he sat on a chair on the porch and things got quite. Which we call "calm before the storm". Then right behind him he heard the tornado touch down and had to rush into the shelter. All made it out safe!

Love your videos!! A little history on me... Since you mentioned your love of the Beatles & Pink Floyd (Love them both too ✌️).... I had always wanted to play guitar or be in a band, but my ballerina lifestyle & school took up all my extra time until I quit the company I was in. I spiraled out for years. Bad decisions, addiction, loss of loved ones. A lot of anxiety and depression. One day, when I was finally on a better path, I picked up my friends guitar and taught myself to play “Wish you were here” by Pink Floyd & “Karma Police” by Radiohead. I fell in love with playing guitar and finally got one and learned a bunch of songs and wrote countless songs. My perfectionist side made me feel I wasn’t good enough to share my music with others though. Still have stage fright 🙈 As a dancer I had no stage fright, but as a musician it’s completely different for me. I’m finally trying to work through that and create my first album!! With basically no money and needing to buy gear and get in a recording studio etc, it’s super challenging to achieve. Although I love a clothing giveaway, money is extra needed right now, so thought I’d share a bit about my journey towards becoming a musician. P.S. I loved meeting you and Dan at Coachella this year!! You guys make the cutest couple and big congrats on being newly weds!! Much love from Texas👨🏼‍🎤 xx ✌️❤️
