- This week's topic on the Facebook broadcast is all about Embrilliance AlphaTricks. BX fonts are available from over 150 of our favorite digitizers - and Embrilliance makes it so easy to use these alphabet designs with the keyboard.
Why do you need AlphaTricks? If you have alphabet design collections that are NOT available as installable BX fonts - AlphaTricks gives you the tools to map them to your keyboard so that you can use them! You can also rename your BX installed fonts in ways that make sense to you -by size, type digitizer etc. You are also provided with global spacing adjustment settings - so if you are always moving the slider to put letters closer together you can set the spacing to 0 and they may connect better!

I just used a BX font from Stitchtopia. It stitched so beautiful that now I’m hooked on BX fonts.
I've watched this before and of course I always learn something new! I didn't realize that my installed mapped files would show on the alpha tricks screen with the drop down arrow!! I don't think I've renamed any fonts though, may have to try just because I can :)
can you import True Type Fonts using this?
Hi Lisa! Great video! Very helpful. When I go to add a font, my files aren't pulling up on my Mac. I only see pictures of designs I have created in all of my files. Do you have any idea what could be the issue?
You need to navigate to the folder that contains the unzipped alphabet designs you have downloaded. If you still have issues, I would contact support on the Embrilliance website. www.Embrilliance.com and click on contact us

First, great video. I see you have a MAC also. I have AlphaTricks but when I go to open a folder nothing happens, the folder never opens. it is like it is frozen. so I don't know what is happening. and yes I have a new Mac

Amazing! Does AlphaTricks have the ability to remap purchased BX fonts? I have some fonts where the digitizer didn't set them where the letters below the baseline are properly placed.

I laughed out loud when you said that you could talk to yourself while setting it up because then things worked right!! These are the kind of thoughts that roll through my head!! 😂😂😂 And BTW, this helped me so very much! Thank you!!
Is there a way to go back to fonts I installed previously and move those stray punctuation symbols all together at the end? Or will I need to delete the font and re-map it properly? And is there a way to change the color?

Lisa, you were able to make the font list go really big for better viewing. How do you do that? I saw that your font list went from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen. Mine just stays in the little 3x3 box so I can only see a few font names at a time. Plus that box isn't wide enough for me to see the whole name. Many times the sizes are listed at the ends of the names so I cannot do anything but guess, guess, guess what sizes they might be.
I have AT, but have not used it yet.
I asked this question on the Brilliant Embrilliance group and was only told "Oh, you can do that in AT."
Just found your video and appreciate your time and efforts. Especially appreciate your getting to the point with info and instructions. Look forward to following you and learning so much more to help with my PHD (projects half done). Be blessed, stay well.
Is there a way to save the font in a file after it has been mapped in case of a computer crash so you do not have to remap?

I love your videos however a lot of the videos are too low on the volume (like this one), I have both my computer volume and the video volume at 100% and I'm still struggling to hear what your saying. If I turn on the subtitle icon I can the read what your saying but the subtitles block off a lot of what your doing, especially when your demonstrating using your mouse arrow icon. Is there any way you can up your volume, if it becomes to loud for some they can always turn it down i can not turn it up...
The volume is very loud on the computers I play the videos on - not sure what to suggest as there is nothing I can do on my end.

Loved this tutorial, thank you so much Lisa!!! I do have a question, how do you tell the difference from a BX stitchartist font to a mapped font?
Native fonts - those digitized for Embrilliance or published from StitchArtist L3 will not have the needle next to them. Look at the built in Block font in the font list vs any of the stitch based BX fonts you have installed.

you mentioned TTF fonts , and using them/ converting them in stitch artist 3.. do you have a video on hoe to do this?
There is no "converting" There are videos on the Embrilliance youtube channel StitchArtist playlist that walk you thru the digitizing tools including the satin column. Brian has also done some on the StitchArtist L3 font page and font publishing that you may want to look at.

Is Alpha tricks needed if you plan on purchasing fonts from digitizers like on Etsy? I guess what I’m asking is will we need to do use AT for all fonts we purchase?
Tiffany Valmyr if you purchase BX you can install fonts to Embrilliance.
If you have alphabet designs that YOU know are fonts, the software will only use them as fonts if you map them using AlphaTricks. Please watch the video to see all you can do with AlphaTricks :)
I took away from this lesson that if you buy an alphabet that doesn't have a .bx file included, you would need Alphatricks to map it into Embrilliance. If you dont' have Alpha Tricks, you can open the design itself in Embrilliance. If you buy an alphabet that has the bx file, there is no need for Alpha Tricks.
Wouldn’t grouping and centering the font have the same result?
