This is bloody amazing. I've listened probably over 30 times this past week, not including the ipod in the car. :) I love you guys! Wish I could go back to Banff 1995 and fall in love all over again.
I feel it's inspired by Singers Unlimited (surprise key change in the middle verse, tiny bits of other satisfying harmonic movements like in "Glory streams", "Jesus Lord at thy birth"). Check that one out, arrangement by Gene Puerling - I think it's nigh unbeatable
While not on the same level as The Real Group, this version of "Silent Night" by the TNT Boys (a new and serendipitously-formed trio from the Philippines) is definitely worth a listen: th-cam.com/video/UQi84doPLzg/w-d-xo.html If Anders could only arrange some music for these talented boys. They already have the riffs, runs, melismas, tight harmonies, and even the purest whistle register ever! Please watch their "Flashlight" and "Somebody To Love" videos as well, for a sample of the aforementioned whistle register.
one of me favorite renditions of this song ever. That being said this group is hit or miss for me they sometimes lack an edge to pull off some songs. That same lack of edge makes this song pop. Complex harmony. Voices mesh extremely well together. they really have an amazing sound when they stay in there comfort zone. Sad to say its not top 40. keep up the great work.
+Cornelis Vander zeyden I agree. I love TRG, but sometimes they can be too "white bread". They have great rhythm, but it's a very caucasian, a very Western European rhythm, and usually lacking influences from dark-skinned cultures, Africa in particular, and other parts of the world. However, I do believe they sing better in Swedish than English. Their English cadence and phrasing always seems to be where they struggle the most, rhythmically. They seem to lean towards safer patterns and beats, without taking risks, or getting too daring. As you said, they lack that edge sometimes. I think their Swedish compositions are better. Jag Vet En Dejlig Rosa from their album Unreal, and Glans Over Sjo Och Strand from The World for Christmas are good examples. Yet one song, Alla Talar Med Varandra, is very much an exception. That song is horrible. hahahahaha. Cheers.
@@bitofingeralastname6794 There's always someone who has nothing better to do than complain about something. Silent Night is an Austrian song and their version of it is beautiful. An African version would have none of these harmonies. It is hard enough being a professional musician without unnecessary carping by people who think they know it all. I am English and I have no complaints about how they sing lyrics in English. Perhaps you had better consider what effect such negative criticism can have on the artists themselves. If you have to nit-pick, try looking in the mirror.
All the people's singing silent night are one of the most angelic voices I have ever heard in my whole entire life.
This is what I need for a perfect christmas: A perfectly and touchingly performed Christmas Carol!
Thank you!
What a beautifully tasteful arrangement.
the World for Christmas is the most moving song, I have heard. Lets respond to this wish with the same grace.
Tokyo!!! Thank you for coming to our country!
You guys are the best hands down
awesome! dat bass was rockin'
Extraordinarios hasta en las melodías más simples. Un hermoso presente para su público.

This is simply the most wonderful thing I have come across in many years. Tack så mycket...
Art, art all way

@@u1zha I had the same thought. Lots of ideas swiped/quoted from Gene Puerling.
Underbart sångarrangemang - även om jag inte omedelbart förstår kopplingen mellan julsången Stilla Natt och Shibuya Crossing i Tokyo
Singers Unlimited did a magnificent version. Can't help but notice some nods to that one in the harmonic structure here.
Omg perfect as always *.* :D
