I love leave in conditioner- I think the type used (water based etc) makes a difference. Especially with using gel. To each his or her own but I dont really like blanket statements like “you don’t need...” Everyone’s hair is different. Glad you found a routine that works for you 😊
Hi Ebony 👋 this Annie i just won't u to know that your natural hair videos are very inspiring i in joy 💖 them Jesus loves you Ebony and so do I be blessed
CL B My boyfriend is growing his hair out and goes straight from shampoo to leave in conditioner and his hair is flourishing, his curls always look better and last longer than mine. I’m about to cut out deep conditioning every week because it’s clearly not necessary lol.
So true but leave in conditioner and deep conditioner did exist, they required spending more money and we didn't know there benefits. Truthfully I didn't know the purpose of grease and water growing up besides it was normal hair routine, refreshes, and adds shine.
It depends on the quality of your gel. Some gels are drying to the hair so using a leave-in maybe necessary. Would luv if u retried the Kinky curly line to see if you can duplicate your results.
Honestly, when I first started my hair growth journey, I used leave in regularly. I saw tremendous growth that year. Then I got lazy and started doing one product wash and goes(still have perfected braid outs and twist outs) and I still had the moisture and definition. And I saw the same amount of growth. Depending on the product I use, my moisture level would last longer with some products but I feel like once you find that product that gives you everything you’re looking for, you don’t need it.
I still go to the videos i have a library saved on my watch later. But still go back and view when have free time. The videos are so informational. Like this one i forget so go back. I HOPE YOU NEVER TAKE THEM DOWN. Now after my rant i have to rewind and rewatch 😂
I have to use leave in conditioner. Shampoo, deep conditioner/hair mask, leave in conditioner, oil on scalp and ends. That’s my regime. Simple. But if I’m going to straight my hair I don’t use any oil just a serum on my ends like chi silk infusion.
I use leave in as a styler because it’s the only thing I need to get a wash n go or any other style. If I wasn’t using a leave-in i’d use some sort of cream or butter. I think they all work the same with different names and consistencies.
I can see a leave in not being a necessity because a lot of people find out that oils wasn't a necessity. I been stopped using oils and my hair retains moisture the same. Especially if you deep condition every wash a leave in could become an option. But I like my hair weighed down because I have tight curls but I can also see you just adding more gel instead to get the hold and weight instead of using a leave in that might cause the gel not to latch onto the hair causing it not to have much hold.
I’m in the military and I’m in a bun 7days a week up to 18+hrs a day. My hair is curly and I’ve noticed breakage where the bun sits and where I have my pony tail. Days off I don’t do anything to t wash moisturize and let air dry. How can I stop breakage? Any recommendations? Please help 😱
I'm curious in regards to maintence? Meaning how are you maintaining your hair in between washes? Are you daily putting water in your hair and detangling or do you only detangle on wash day? Also are you wearing a bonnet at night? If you already answered this I apologize please just redirect me to the video. Thanks😁 Update: I know you touched on this in the video but I just thought it was a more elaborate process.
My hair texture is similar to yours, and I’m lazy so Queen of the one & done. Sometimes two n done! Lately go to has been UFD curly magic, with just a tiny bit of curls goddess curl put on top for hold. Other times Aunt Jackie’s flaxseed girl alone. I don’t need leave in ever, my conditioner moisturises, then gel to style.
Thank you for the nuggets of information you have provided on this vlog. It's helpful knowing that the leave-in conditioner can affect wash and go's :)
Omg I think you made realize. . Omfg! It was one time I put just a few squirts of leave in conditioner in my water bottle , sprayed on section first and then apply styler and gel, then oil. Back when I was experimenting every other day. And my curls were so defined and I couldn’t remember what I did and been trying to figure it out. But just at this moment , I know it’s thisssss ! Thank you 😂💗. You don’t need to layer with leave in. Just pump a little in that water bottle !
I am watching you from Sudan. I had a big chop few months ago and I really needed this video. Thank you very much for the amazing infos that you always share with us. Thank you for your time and efforts. I fell in love with the new background 😍 Much love sister ❤
You are a mind reader! This hits on so many of the issues I’ve been dealing with since transitioning three years ago I’m headed out to Walgreens now! I’ll let you know how I make out in a few weeks ♥️
Please help me understand when it come to 3 leave-in conditioner before deep conditioner I deep conditioner with the shea moisture strength and restore treatment Masque which I have to rinse out then I put in the shea moisture strengthen and restore leave in conditioner so what leave Deep Conditioner can you use that you don't have to wash out and use after the leave-in lm totally confused???. Than you say 5. A Hair mask that's new for me l only that use Camilla Rose and a little bit of Kinky Curly knot today so the first thing I do is Whip My Hair next I used to leave in conditioner by shea moisture then I use the Meelle hair leave in conditioner because it makes my hair not wait down then I go in with 2 gels mixes together very very little bit of the Curl Maker by Camille Rose & a little bit of the Kinky Curly knot today and that last me for two weeks or even more I just waited from the roots and bring it down to the tips a little bit of believe in and that's it. And believe me I have never got any flakes or is she honest and when it's time for me to do my hair all over again that's when the cruise really pops all over again cuz I don't use any of the products for the rest of the days I just go back in with the leave-in conditioner by Mielle and sometime at the ends the leave-in at the ends of the hair unless have to put both the gel baxk in only on the ends or half way down but l ALWAYS WET MY HAIR MU HAIR IS thin and fine Bay around my edges and back it's like white people here but in the middle of my hair and towards the back middle in front of my hair is Greer the most here is stick at which I have two different textures and the front it is more nicer and in the back of it is definitely 4A or something because I have to put a lot of product to even get it to curl. So I would love to know some hair masses and what type of deep condition you are using that you do not have to wash out???. Because I do number 4 after number 2 because I have to wash out my Deep Conditioner.Oh also l am trying the high ponytail again l have to stretch my hair and my hair is pretty tight in the back which I wish I had looser curls micros goes like a s shape or spiral. Thank you for your time I've been alone subscriber and I love when you do these type of videos and explaining exactly how you do it I've tried so many products now I'm just at the point that I have to stick with what works for me rice water and coconut oil does not wish I am low porosity to and the other line that's in the yellow and black jar by the celebrity a lot of people don't want to use her products because a lot of things that she has in ingredients is not that good for every person black hair actually they say it's bad
I’ve been doing something similar since this past fall. I use a curling cream and a gel for a wash n go. It leaves me with definition and enough moisture. Tfs!!
niceee!! i have been doing this since i went natural in 2016. my stylist told me i didn't need it for my fine 3c hair. i do not use rinse out conditioner in the warmer months. once it's 65 and up i shampoo and go to a mask. I personally believe in deep conditioning once a week and clarifying once a month. And you can do just gel but it has to be the right gel. I use just gel A LOT all summer.
Yeah, i use the gel alone for wash and go or liquid leave ins under my gel. It works better. I used to love the Infusium liquid leave in but does not look like they make it anymore. 😥 i missed.
Hey, Ebony! I’ve been noticing that my hair has been reacting weirdly to my favorite gel lately & idk why. It’s the mane choice crystal orchid biotin infused gel. That gel was bae for a long time but I had stopped using it to use some of my other products. When I went back to using it I was in love with how it made my curls look but randomly I would say maybe a month later my curls became super frizzy & would not get defined no matter how much gel or product I used. It was so weird that the same curl would be defined in some areas & be super frizzy & look like spider webs in other part of the same curl. What do you think could be causing this? Could it be the biotin?!
I had this issue before when I changed states. The hard minerals from the tap water built up so bad that my hair was literally repelling against itself and standing up in sections lol 🤯😰. Well, I used a powder pack by Ion called 'Crystal Clear' (not sure if name is exact). I got it from Sally's. After rinsing with that, then deep conditioning.... let's just say, the heavenly harps and violins were playing!💎! Curls were poppin once again. If you try this, I hope it helps!
Your hair is beautifullll! ❤️ Mine will look like that after a flat twist but not wash and go. It’s way more tight and wash and gos don’t work for me bc gel makes it so dry.
Are the mielle and plentiful conditioners protein conditioners? I have both but can't find anything on their sites specifying that. I'm low porosity and i do a light oil like vitamin E as the last layer of my styling (I don't use gels, I prefer my hair with less definition) and it makes my hair sooooo soft.
Thank you😃 Ebony i really needed a distraction from all this scary talk about this virus... i really holly use leave in conditioner for the same reason pretty much the cream styler does the job.. but for the most part i just hope it doesn't flake up along with the styling gel... keep safe out there god bless🙂💜
I’m really trying to get my hair to act right. Need to find me a hair whisperer. Cause chileeeee I’ve been natural too long for my hair not to be at my butt already 😩😩 love the trips. Thanks 🙏🏽
Waittttt i thought wash and go was just a leave in and a little oil. That's what i do. If i wanted it to last the entire week i use gel instead of oil. I didn't know people used a leave in and a styler
Hydrabar salon on ig also uses this method. They believe that the moisture from deep conditioning and conditioning, should be sufficient enough for a gel only wash and go. They use botanical gels.
I personally only use a hair milk or cream and a gel... the loc method plus gel is too much imo... if your hair is properly cleansed and deep conditioned a leave in conditioner is unnecessary in a wash n go. Ive been able to drastically cut down on products from not buying leave ins...
I love you Ebony..we're all home over here finished our shopping and enjoying family time..i can't wait 4 you and Alex to bring a bundle of joy but not now after virus is under control..wink
I have virgin hair too and our hair is much more resistant to dryness. For example, I deep condition every week or two, but I can use Camille rose gel on its own and my hair won’t dry out for that week. Now I usually use mielle honey soufflé with a gel (Camille gel or mielle curling custard) and my hair stays moisturized 🤷🏾♀️
Can we all just stop panicking over coronavirus? Lol I felt that, sis. It’s not the first this decade and it won’t be the last 🤷🏾♀️ (Ebola, pig flu, etc etc etc...)
That’s easy to say when you are not a Doctor fighting to save a persons life or a victim fighting to survive the virus. If someone you truly cares about gets it then dies rethink your comment again. You must not value human life or your own. It is Ignorant and insensitive. Once you live the experience of one or the above then you can judge whether people should panic or not.
Ariel Summer Exactly! I work in a hospital, and unfortunately got sick with coronavirus. I’m just now back to normal and able to work after being sick for 3 weeks. It’s nothing to take lightly. Unfortunately, for some people it’s not a big deal until it happens to them or someone close to them. I wish good health for everyone. It was definitely the worst sickness I’ve ever had in my adult life.
None of those things were even close to this. I guess it is not a big deal because it has not affected anyone that you know. Can we grow up and stop acting as if this is not real because you were not affected. The lives of other people matter just as much as your life matters.
Have you ever tried using leave-in conditioner and then Gel? Only because the leave-in is more light weight and still gives some moisture but won’t overpower the Gel Styler. Try it out if you haven’t already and make a video so that we can see how it turned out. 😘

Once we all got our hair healthy all we need is a simple routine and products to maintain our healthy head of hair.😊
Agree. We don't need to switch up just for the sake of trying things

Back in the day we never had leave in conditioner....we had grease and water...our hair was moist and strong. We didn't even have deep condtioner.
You’re right!!

Cholesterol is a deep conditioner. My mama used to put it on my hair way back when.
This is so true. Water and grease was my go to and my edge control
I’m trying to get my hair like yours. Amen 🙏🏾. You are hair goals frfr.
Thank you ☺️
It depends on the quality of your gel. Some gels are drying to the hair so using a leave-in maybe necessary. Would luv if u retried the Kinky curly line to see if you can duplicate your results.
I used to use kinky curly all the time. Maybe I should revisit her🤔
Ebony's Curly TV That’s the only leave-in and gel that works for me. Everything else dries my hair out or leaves a lot of build-up and residue.
Honestly, when I first started my hair growth journey, I used leave in regularly. I saw tremendous growth that year. Ebony's Curly TV lmao he is right if u kept going back to it 😂🤣
Hey Ebony! How’s your new regimen going without the leave in conditioner
I use rinse out conditioner to prepoo/detangle my daughter’s hair. Then I use deep conditioner after the shampoo.
Same I use the garnier hair food banana with coconut oil to prepoo

It by Rachael Roy but its sold out. I just checked the link she left under Kimberly B comment.
