PGZ88: China's First Modern Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft Gun

In the late 1970s, China developed its first-generation self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, the PGZ88 Type Double 37, based on intelligence gathered from wars in the 1960s and 70s. The development of the PGZ88 posed many challenges for the designers, but it marked the beginning of China's modern self-propelled artillery.
The PGZ88 integrated a complete fire control system, including search and rangefinding radar, and entered service in 1989, providing mobile low-altitude defense for armored units, although it had some drawbacks such as a lack of a command system and long response time.
