There l discovered the lyrics and fell in love with it without realky perceiving the meaning. During 2022 lent, my pastor used as one of the hymns for the period. There l came to discover what it is all about and loved it more. The Old Rugged cross compliments Ecclesiastes 2:24-26 on the vanité of everything in this world. No matter what, this song will always remind me of my cousin. When he was little my aunt sang this to him before he went to sleep. Sadly he died on march 31 of this year and it tore my aunt up. He was her first born son and her closest son. He had just gotten his life turned around for his 5 year old son and was on his way to get a refill of his seizure meds. But they wouldn’t give it to him even though he’d been taking them for 10 years. He had a seizure driving back and got in a wreck. He survived but was in the icu. But they let him out only 10 hours later. The only visible injuries were just his lip from biting down on it. He was walking just fine too. But a week later he was found dead. My aunt requested this song to be played at the funeral and every time I hear it I think of him
I just got a cochlear implant switched on yesterday. Everything sounds like beeps, whistles, and Alvin, Theodore, and Simon, so far. This is my favorite hymn, so I popped in to see if it's at all recognizable. It isn't really, but I am getting a sense of the rhythm and a few vowel sounds. Makes me happy. It could take a year before hearing music rather naturally.

I was in a bad car accident in 2019 I shattered my humerus bone above my elbow and had 4 hours of surgery and fractured my right ankle which heal by it self - February 2020 I had my 2 surgery for 2 staph infections in my elbow never spread and after surgery I didn’t wake up my doctor had to rub my chest to wake me up didn’t work but a few minutes later I woke up- did 5 nights and 2 months of hospital visits for medication and wound care- 9 months of therapy and now chiropractor for my arm when needed- all from a person running a stop sign- but got to see how Jesus been with me through my journey

This is a song during my grandfather's funeral. I never thought losing a parent could be this painful. It is so so painful. I cannot imagine my life ahead not having to see him nor hear his voice anymore no matter where I go, no matter what I do. He is gone forever. 😭😭😭😭
Remember that if you are a believer in Christ, someday you will be reunited with your grandfather, and it will be a joyous reunion, in our new glorified bodies, no more tears, aches, or pains, please believe that your grandpa is in a better place, 👍🙏🙏

@@ryujin1522 Too many contradictions in the bible, no real proof when asked to provide it, i cant believe in something based on a blind faith that others use as an answer, just because you believe in something that doesnt make it real. I could just as easily believe in fairies and a fairy realm that i will goto when i die, as i can a god and heaven and to be honest i prefer the fairy idea lol. The priest who presided my mother's funeral inserted this song in the funeral programme he proposed and l accepted not realy knowing what it means. It was rendered on that day in church. There l discovered the lyrics and fell in love with it without realky perceiving the meaning. During 2022 lent, my pastor used as one of the hymns for the period. There l came to discover what it is all about and loved it more. The Old Rugged cross compliments Ecclesiastes 2:24-26 on the vanité of everything in this world. It reminds us that what matters is Jesus! I invite all often troubled by the happenings around them ti zlways lusten to The Old Rugged Cross for upliftment. Amen!

No matter what, this song will always remind me of my cousin. When he was little my aunt sang this to him before he went to sleep. Sadly he died on march 31 of this year and it tore my aunt up. He was her first born son and her closest son. He had just gotten his life turned around for his 5 year old son and was on his way to get a refill of his seizure meds. But they wouldn’t give it to him even though he’d been taking them for 10 years. He had a seizure driving back and got in a wreck. He survived but was in the icu. But they let him out only 10 hours later. The only visible injuries were just his lip from biting down on it. He was walking just fine too. But a week later he was found dead. My aunt requested this song to be played at the funeral and every time I hear it I think of him

I just got a cochlear implant switched on yesterday. Everything sounds like beeps, whistles, and Alvin, Theodore, and Simon, so far. This is my favorite hymn, so I popped in to see if it's at all recognizable. It isn't really, but I am getting a sense of the rhythm and a few vowel sounds. Makes me happy.
It could take a year before hearing music rather naturally.

I was in a bad car accident in 2019 I shattered my humerus bone above my elbow and had 4 hours of surgery and fractured my right ankle which heal by it self - February 2020 I had my 2 surgery for 2 staph infections in my elbow never spread and after surgery I didn’t wake up my doctor had to rub my chest to wake me up didn’t work but a few minutes later I woke up- did 5 nights and 2 months of hospital visits for medication and wound care- 9 months of therapy and now chiropractor for my arm when needed- all from a person running a stop sign- but got to see how Jesus been with me through my journey
