A. S. Karthikeyan , when a network device is part of a live network it is said to be associated with a Production network. Imagine an enterprise network consisting of network switches, routers, servers, firewall, end user host devices etc used to move traffic from one point to another. Traffic could be flowing between two end user hosts, traffic between two servers, traffic between end user host and server etc. hth
+Garegin my understanding is that it is supported only in the VMware NSX product which is paid (and quite expensive). With the standard ESXi virtual switch there is no L3 routing capability.

What do people mean by " PRODUCTION " ? What does PRODUCTION traffic contain?

VMware also has l3 switching in the hypervisor, right?
