This is by far is my favorite episode. Grown people speaking intelligently and owning up to their responsibilities.
This was actually refreshing. Everyone told the truth, everyone was mature, that went very smoothly.
They probably had an agreement between them to go on judge Judy to get this paid for. They probably just needed the help paying for it. 🥺
Actually this was a real case filled in small claims court. They JJ production team sorts through small claims cases and reaches out to the litigants to see if they would be willing to have their case on the show, so it would be highly unlikely they made this up.
That was easy. See how simple things are when you take responsibility for your actions?
Then they wouldn't be in court...

@@hellegennes the cases are real. Usually the cases are ridiculous like these, but they get paid for being humiliated on the show , instead of taking care in a local court.

How do people who know each other for 10 YEARS not make a marriage last longer than 2 MONTHS?
I worked with a guy who married his girlfriend after 12 years of dating. The marriage lasted 4 months.
Some people change after marriage. Even if you’ve known them forever.
For some people, the knowledge that the other person can leave keeps them on their best behavior.
Judge Judy said on another episode about dating, “the courting period is as good as it gets”
If you never get married the courting period never ends.
Dating for long periods does not guarantee longevity or happiness in marriage unfortunately. Most times the opposite happens especially if you lived together before getting married
My ex dated his ex before me for 10 years and their marriage only lasted less than a year.
I got good vibes from this case. Both acted mature, and they are still friends after this.
I'd have to say that this was the most orderly case I have seen in a long time. It was about one person being in the right, and the other person being in the wrong, and the fact that the defendant can stand there and take accountability for his mistakes and say that he still considers the plaintiff his friend speaks volumes. If only every case ended like that.
As a healthcare professional kudos to her for assisting in taking care of her ex husband. You wouldn’t believe how many times my team has had to call adult protective services. All parties seemed like genuine good hearted people.

She's lucky he drove it because the engine would have locked up on her .Certain Chrysler Sebring and Chysler Concords from the 1998 to 2002 model years could contain defective 2.7 liter V6 engines which are prone to catastrophic engine failure due to a build up of oil sludge.
Why did they go to court if everyone is in agreement ?
JJ paid out the $2000 ezpz because they were both totally reasonable and responsible adults. Told the full story. Etc. now everyone is happy and they can all be friends again. Win win

I was genuinely surprised that there was no drama in this case. After seeing so many idiots on this show, its refreshing to see two respectful & mature parties who can behave in court without all the nonsense.

After watching Judge Judy, I am never loaning my car out to anyone, ever. There is obviously a 99.9% chance they're going to have an accident

As everyone is saying, refreshing to have honest people who admit the truth and let the judge make the decision.
Then to be so reasonable about the verdict and to say we’re still friends is awesome.
I’m just torn about it. I mean unless you did something crazy if the engine died that’s kind of 17 yrs of wear and tear.
Maybe she hadn’t maintained it. I leaks there’s not much a single time user can do to blow an engine unless running it hot if the rad fails etc.
But at the same time it was during his use, and without permission so I definitely get that point.
Nobody can guarantee or determine if it was user error or just an old car that was on its last leg already.
I guess if he had gotten permission it would he a different story as to if it were negligence or not, or simply older vehicle.

I must admit that this subdued nature of this case almost had me surprised. They weren't acrimonious and were respectful. I think that's why Judge Judy was as fair as she was.
Honestly the defendant and plaintiff seem so cordial I wouldn’t be surprised if they both decided to come on JJ just so some or part of the cost is covered. Neither was really out for the other or trying to stick it to them.

Where’s the plaintiff saying she has text messages to tell the defendant never to touch the car (but can’t find the texts now)?
Where’s the witness inserting his opinion every 12 seconds until JJ threatens to throw the plaintiff’s case?
I was deceived into watch this video hoping for typical bad human behavior. I want my money back and I’m countersuing for hurt feelings and disorientation.

That car was an old piece of junk and probably was barely running. He drove it and the engine died and she wanted money.
Put the car away every winter. Last oil change was 2004

It depends really. If the plaintiff let the defendant drive her car and knew advance that he was somehow dangerous on the road (Being drunk, driving without a driver's license, bad driving record, etc.), Judge Judy would of definitely dismissed her case. But if the plaintiff let the defendant drive her car, but was not aware that he would somehow be unfit to drive, then she still may possibly have a case.
Case would've been dismissed. Just like the classic judge Judy toilet case you can't sue someone just because they used something with permission as intended and it died.

Also, being 40 and having zero interest in getting married is the exact opposite of old-fashioned. The majority of women were married in their early 20’s back in the day and it wasn’t always about love.
