wonderful presentation by Dave....I had the opportunity to see Louis perform in the sixties in Reno Nevada.....my band was playing across the street and when our show finished up, I would catch Louus and Keely and Sam with the Witnesses......Seeing that show live was the most exciting show I have ever seen excluding the James Brown Revue..... I have since tailored my act to include many of Louis tunes especially Buona Sera. The swing shuffle beat with a driving bass would get everybody on to the dance floor....you could not miss with the Prima sound. It was with great sadness upon learning of Prima's death, but I would catch Sam Butera every chance I got when he was in Atlantic City, and he would carry the Prima tradition perfectly. All I can say is......when I am feeling down, I put on a Prima track and instantly I am transported back to happiness....
We need more Italians. Our generation has to multiply. I am 100% Italian and it is a privilege to be one. We need our ethnic group to live forever.🇮🇹 Louie Prima was the best of the best. ❤
Cool presentation with a lot of interesting history. I am a Working Drummer, not Italian, but I have done many many Italian gigs in the New York area, mostly Westchester, New Jersey, and Manhattan. I’ve always enjoyed playing the Prima shuffle and tarantella and Italian rhumba- saw some great parties and great times. Thanks for this very entertaining presentation Dave!
OMG! I just happened to come across this video. I'm so glad I did. To this day, Louis Prima is still my favorite singer. I immediately subscribed to your channel. You did a great job singing too. Also, I'm Italian and from Long Island. 😊
Thank you so much! Louis was my Dad's favorite, and mine too! If you are into your Italian heritage, look into joining The Sons and Daughters of Italy in America here on LI. There are many local "lodges" or clubs. We belong to the Smithtown Sellaro Lodge.
There will never be anyone as special as Mr. Prima. He was outstanding!!!!!
