Great job. Really enjoy all your Christmas projects. Thx!! Question though - what is the size of the feet? It doesnt look like its on the plans. Thanks again.
My wife bought me a Draper mini lathe for Christmas specifically to make Nutcrackers. I am a carpenter not a turner although looking forward to having a go. What size tools should I buy. I'm guessing 1/4" or 3/8" . Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Glenn, the following reply is from Colwin - "Yes, the 1/4 and 3/8 gouges will serve you well for this project and many others. There is no need to go big, if it's a bench top lathe you have then go for a box set such as the one listed below. These have shorter handles so are ideal for bench lathes www.axminstertools.com/axminster-craft-woodturning-tool-set-106153"

Terrific project. Thanks Colwin. How does one scale the nutcracker up or down?
Hi guys, great project as usual, a bit of advice if you don’t mind, what coating would be best for wooden coasters.
Hi Andy, glad you enjoyed it! Colwin has suggested an Acrylic or Melamine Lacquer.
