Terrific project. Thanks Colwin. How does one scale the nutcracker up or down?

Hi guys, great project as usual, a bit of advice if you don’t mind, what coating would be best for wooden coasters.

Hi Andy, glad you enjoyed it! Colwin has suggested an Acrylic or Melamine Lacquer.

My wife bought me a Draper mini lathe for Christmas specifically to make Nutcrackers. I am a carpenter not a turner although looking forward to having a go. What size tools should I buy. I'm guessing 1/4" or 3/8" . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Glenn, the following reply is from Colwin - "Yes, the 1/4 and 3/8 gouges will serve you well for this project and many others. There is no need to go big, if it's a bench top lathe you have then go for a box set such as the one listed below. These have shorter handles so are ideal for bench lathes

Hi Terry, no problem at all. You should see the words 'see more' under the title and our channel name when you're on a video. Click that and the full description and links should appear.

For info. - Seiffen is pronounced Syefenn, not Seefenn.
