I was just 9 years when I attended puberty , it was a memorable day in my life, so many advices ,how to behave Infront of boy's , responsibilities,bla bla & bla. .
it was a nice day though . some people think it is unnecessary to have a function like this but it's a very important function which teach the young girl so many things ,in my country the puberty function is organized in a grand way like a wedding because , after the girl is matured she might get married to her own will without parents permission or she might run away with a guy, so the family won't be able to witness her wedding & treat the cousins so they make sure everything is perfect in this function ,

Does this function has a say in the modern era? Earlier days, parents wanted the society to know that their daughter has attained puberty and that she is now ready for marriage. Is that custom needed today, as only after 18 you can get your child married.
Secondly, wearing half saree for the first time during this ceremony, and then on she wears only half saree until her marriage when she wears a full saree. Again, today even the 5 year girl wears half saree and even readymade full saree. So again teh function goes invalid.
These functions are followed in modern era just to show off the money to their friends and relatives. And the function is an unnecessary one.
So dont worry if you don have money for such useless functions, leave those easily and save the amount for your kids education. That will benefit her. Following what upper middle class and upper class (financially) do to show off, would actually ruin a middle or lower class' family and their future.
Education and attaining a job is important, which you do not get for free. So focus and save money for education of the kids. That will benefit . And no hard feelings that you or your parents doesnt have money to conduct this function or make it grand. Respect your parents if they have given you good education and helped you getting a job to support yourself , or atleast they got you married to a good person .
