Rook use his magic to get the upper hand if he has to. Nick workplaces require him to have a firearm with him for how dangerous they are. It don't mean he can't defend himself without a firearm. Lance taught Nick some blade skills so Nick can still handle himself in hand to hand combat. For me I carry my phone which allow me to teleport items in, however I need gacha club on the phone and make sure the phone is charge. If I teleport items in when my battery are low of my phone it either don't work or my phone battery dies completely.
Nick seems to understand basic gun maintenance. Checking up on your weapons and ensuring their good condition is a brilliant practice.
