- Here's three great tips for getting the most out of barbel fishing on big rivers like the Trent, although these are tactics that will work on most middle and lower stretches that contain good heads of barbel.
Thanks for the tips lads I'm fishing for barbel on the river ribble tonight so ill be incorporating some of those tips and hopefully be pulling them in :-)
Some great tips and advice there. 👍👍👍👍👍
great tips boys cheers will try them out this week cant wait
Nice one im targeting this species in my vlogs very handy!
Spot on this, when you lose a few doubles in the lower Trent you will finish up on 15lb line with leadcore I can assure you - they go like trains.
always have fished lightest leads and smaller hooks ..big baits had 100 s of doubles from all over ..less resistance more bites
Leadcore in the wrong hands is dangerous to the fish thats why this chap is using a helicopter rig (no doubt with a soft bead on the top) that is safe and if the mainline breaks the leadcore will pull away if lost just leaving only the hooklink which is as safe as it gets. I have never broken this heavy main line, I use a balanced rig and lead dumping, after saying that I now use hollow rubber tubing instead of leadcore for abrasion resistance only and have not suffered any reduction in catch.
thanks for the tips
3 Barbel Tips. No3- The UK’s biggest Barbel is in Rutland Lake.....No2- The UK’s most highly evolved Barbel is in the Thames..... No1- Never Go Barbel Fishing on less than a 20lb clutch
Lead core should be banned on rivers, soon as that fish snags him up lines going to break on the knot and barbel left trailing with the lead core
If set up properly like the bloke has done here, the hook link can pull free of the lead core so that’s not a problem, its the 3ft hook link which is left trailing, there is no need to use hook links that long.
well, i was hopping to see that 17 pounds barbel
Rather stay around Reading for something larger LOL
he cant apologise enough for using decent strength, not too light, tackle..
15
2.25 test curve for little barbel. lol!
It's purely for casting the big leads a 1.75lb won't cast 5 or 6 oz leads
@@jackthomson5047 Can with a pike rod, i use my 1.75lbs to fire a 4oz gripper and a mackerel tail 40yds. Through actioned rod is the key. i use same rods for Barbel :)
Put the fish back earlier use fishing disgorgers should know better really
You brits are so easy, soon you'll start fishing for pike with pellets and boillies..
