I remember one of the developers saying that they're supposed to be called casings the reason they're so valuable is because they're how you make bullets
Idea for alteration to the challenge: Start with the money bag, where you get more casings but drop money on hit. Start in cursed king mode, whatever its called. You have to buy the rat key. You have to get the advanced dragun. And lastly... you have to play as the robot. Please like so Hutts sees this! EDIT: Hutts, if you see this, the following additions are optional. Turbi mode! Full clear every floor! Metronome!
I feel like the bonus damage from each item is multiplied, not added, that would explain why you started dealing so much damage so early. Considering that you had 370 coins and 25 items when you reached Bullet Hell, each item had (370/500)*(2-370/500) = 93.24% increase in damage. Now, if it were just linear increase (aka each item gives you +93% damage from your base damage) then you would deal 2431% damage with each shot (or 121.55 damage), which is way less than any of the bosses' health. But if the damage of each item was based off of the already boosted damage (by the previous item), it would be (1 + 0.9324)^25 damage multiplier, or roughly 14.2 million multiplier :D So I guess it's no surprise that even the final boss couldn't handle that 71 million damage shot lel
@@galacticranger8072 that's the thing, it's a damage PER SECOND cap. If the damage comes as one big lump, it's not DPS, it's just straight damage. It's why weapons like the firework cannon do so much damage, it's that it's one very highly damaging shot as a pose to 100 shots with decent damage. Gungeon calculates DPS reduction after the first shot, which means that if the first bullet does 10 billion damage, it's instant death.
I like how he didn't sacrifice the money for rat key because "Rat doesn't drop money", not even considering all the extra gilded bullets he would get lol
suggestion: every item is gilded bullets EXTREME MODE activate curse of the king AND you cant junk chests for gilded bullets you can only get them by opening chests or buying an item from the chop and dropping it (you can do hard mode which is the same thing but no curse of the king)

I believe your damage started stacking multiplicatively, because there is no way you'd kill the king so fast otherwise, especially if the sidearm only does 5 damage, because otherwise you would only do roughly 700% of base damage increase by that point, equaling 40 damage per shot, so I think the gilded bullets affected your damage after the previous gilded bullets was applied, so the gilded bullets also affected the previous gilded bullets so to speak.
Imagine a run of Isaac or Gungeon were he was allowed to take any item he wants for each spawn, just to see him overthink to get the perfect combo, and he can't blame anything on rng
So that seems to stack AND break the boss damage cap which I thought would be a problem. Apparently if you deal more damage than the boss has health, it dies immediately.
Gilded is probably a B tier item because you only get one in a normal game and at max currency you deal double damage Also this makes me curious for a Every item is Money=Power Isaac run.

Hutts! There's a mod called SimpleStats that allows you to have a display on the side that can show most of the stats that change throughout the run. You can customize which stats get shown. One of them is damage and it shows your damage multiplier. It can also show things like curse, coolness, speed, and so many more. It's a useful mod that I'd recommend especially for a challenge like this so you wouldn't have to calculate it yourself.
I think it might stack by multiplying your damage by 2each time instead of adding 100% of your original damage. So 15 with max money would give you 2^15*100% damage instead of 15000%. Which definitely one-shots everything. Idk though if it did that I feel like it would have gotten busted faster
Were you multiplying the bonuses or adding the bonus cuz with multiplying them each % increase would scale off the prior one to include itself in the next calculation so 1 maxed guilded would be 100% extra of your damage to give 200% damage but the next would give 400% then 800% so the calculation should be 2^X where X=guilded bullets

Rules; you can not use any guns other than robot's right hand, and the glass cannon. You can not pick up armor, or any guon stones that aren't glass. Your active is free game, and you are free to replace chests with either a blank, or an ammo drop, as long as you spend the key to unlock them first. I've tested it, and I can confirm that it is frustrating, but rewarding.
If you look at it in .25x speed that's not what happened at all, he probably did slightly over a thousand damage and broke the cap. However he still did less damage than the old King's health.

(The reason for calling it The Midas challenge is because basically in the story he (King Midas), was cursed, and only realized it until after he accidentally turned his daughter into gold). A list of bosses that can be considered bullshit are: ammoconda, high priest (the nowhere bullets) and one that (I think) may be unique to me is wallmonger, ammoconda is famous for its bullshittiness, high priest because of his bullets from nowhere throughout the fight, and wallmonger because of the impending doom if you can’t kill fast enough

For everyone confused why the boss damege cap doesn't work right here To simplify it it doesn't mean anything for 1 shotting bullets it mainly affects the damage you do over a period of time (also 1 bullet that deals a lot of damage is not a thing in normal gungeon except for a couple S tier guns) Meaning 1 bullet that deals 10k damage will one shot the boss but 10 bullets that take 5 seconds to deal 10k damage will not because that damage cap will be in effect
That's not how the damage cap works. There is a flat cutoff where the damage cap stops working. If a bullet deals more than 1000 damage, it ignores the damage cap. I am a modder, and I tested it myself to make sure this is right. A bullet that deals 999 damage will not break the damage cap, but a bullet that deals 1001 will. For reference, a bullet that deals 900 damage does not insta-kill the Trigger Twins, who each only have 400 health, because the incoming damage to the enemy is reduced to comply with the DPS cap.

The reason this run was so op is because gilded is a damage multiplier so 15 gilded isnt +1500% its ×2^15 which is ×32768 and because the dps cap is based on your damage per second of your attacks the first shot cant be nagated

its doubling itself 12 times, from 2x damage onwards at 100%, so at 12 bullets its doing 409, 600% extra damage
