This song was the inspiration for the Spanish alternative rock group Lagartija Nick. They're from Granada & signed a record deal in 1991. I started living in Granada in 1990, & was a student at uni there. There was a festival early in the summer of 1990 in a park in the barrio I lived in. It was free & was to celebrate local musicians, most of whom were just starting out. Lagartija Nick was one of the acts in the afternoon. They're still going strong. They're a great group, although I prefer Bauhaus. lol

Bizarre, I thought thie single was out well before 83, I had bought the LP (I thought earlier though), and I definitely don't remember seeing it sung on totp (was it a re-release on the back of Ziggy Stardust charting?). Great to see this video though, great series👍👍

I do love Bauhaus and I know this will be a controversial opinion but....I do think Pete Murphy was/is a bit of a nob. And I do have everything they’ve done and most of Mr. Murphy’s solo stuff.
Sorry. I did, however think he was the bees knees when I was about 17.
I also thought Gene Loves Jezebel were great but they weren’t really. I have all their tunes too.
What makes you think he is a nob? Genuinely interested as I never heard any bad stories about him.

The only bad stories I’ve ever heard about him are from when he was on meth a few years back, but other than that, I’ve never heard anything bad about him. He’s definitely got an ego, but by all accounts, so does Daniel Ash
Oh he was a complete narcissist from the start. He had no respect for his bandmates, he was incredibly pretentious, he's been arrested multiple times for assaulting members of the audience. During an early gig he hit David J over the head with a mic-stand knocking him clean out in the middle of a song and just went on singing and never apologised, he stabbed a member of the audience in the face with a different mic-stand and got himself arrested (He spent the night in jail wearing black lipstick and tights). He'd constantly go on about the bands hierarchy in which he was the most important and valuable (Kevin being at the bottom).
He had amazing cheekbones though.
