11:57, the trio of Elves are: Elrond, Haldir and Celeborn. Elrond is of course the master of Rivendale who puts together the fellowship of the ring. Haldir is a general of sorts in the army of Lothlorien, and most famously in the movies he fights at Helm’s deep and dies in Aragorn’s arms. Celeborn is Galadriel’s husband and the lord of Lothlorien. He was one of the wisest elves in middle earth, though he didn’t do much in the movies.
Thanks for this great review. It looks fantastic! Yeah, the Diamond Ace is the Golden Hall of Edoras, in Rohan. And that theme follows through with the flower and horseheads on those number cards. So, diamonds for Rohan, Clubs (three rings) are elves with the Lothlorien leaf on the number cards, Hearts are Hobbits (Shire) with Old Toby on the numbers, and Spades are Gondor with the White Tree in the pips and I don't know what that gold thing is exactly - kind of looks like the "wing" features on Gondor helmets and even Elessar's crown when Aragorn becomes king.
At 11:44 this is not Isildur and Elendil. This card seems to be the secondary characters, so historic, kings of old wouldn’t make sense. I believe it is Eomer and Faramir. Eomer is King Theoden’s nephew, the horse master in Rohan who rides with Gandalf to Helms deep. And Faramir is Boromir’s brother, son of Denathor, Steward of Gondor who helps Frodo before he goes into Mordor.
I always learn so much when I watch your videos. Even when I think I’m a fan of something I find myself going “oh THATS that guys name?” Or like “wait who?” To everything you say 😂 always appreciated!
After seeing the bond deck and Star Wars decks this deck definitely has more work and attention to detail. Very nice. I still feel like the time is spent on their boxes because that’s what you see when you buy and then it’s downhill with the creativity from there with most of their decks. At least with Batman they got the Joker card right lol
My design wishes: Golem and Sauron should be the Jokers, or Golem and Saruman. Gandalf should have been a King, as he was the mover and shaper of all the events in the Second Age. And Elrond! He should have been a King. Just my artist's opinion. Having said that, I see that each suit has a theme, so I understand the current choices for this deck, which in the wake of a limited number of court cards, they put all the major cast of characters on the joker card. In short, I guess there's not enough court cards to appease everyone. One last note: I think it would have been cool to have Eowyn wear her helm & armor on her flip side.
I agree with all that. To many characters to choose from that were so pivotal to the story. I was particularly disappointed that gandolf wasnt on one of the faces
Seeing the courts, Aces, and the number cards for this deck: can easily be associated with how close it is with TGW’s Successors. Nevertheless, this LOTR deck still a blast
Great detailed review of these amazing cards. I like to design solo games with standard cards, and probably one of my favorite is using this deck. You play as Sauron trying to corrupt Middle Earth, lol. I made an overview video on my channel if anyone reading this is interested in checking it out. At first I didn't want to use the cards because they were so nice, but it's also kind of a shame NOT to use them.
Frankly saying, with all that details and easter eggs well arranged and well drawn throughout the box and on the aces, I am surprised to see all the characters’ with a man-like face in the jokers and courts are such a huge let down, as if the designers either rushed through with their first draft or human faces are not their speciality, and it’s not a matter of style
Excited to get KWP’s and compare. From the pics I think I prefer this one, but Jackson has some detailed artwork and a different take based on the books!

I think you’re spot on! Was such a challenge to pick out all of the characters, so I love all the assistance from you guys to fill in the gaps!

Thanks everyone so far who has pointed out that the AoD is Edoras from Rohan! I should have guessed the tie to Rohan with Theoden as the King.
The Ace of diamonds is Meduseld, the Golden Hall at Edoras in Rohan. And that is Eowyn standing there as she did in the movies.

Not impressed with court pictures. Either make them resemble LOTR actors better or not at all. That ^^^ is neither here no there.
