Wow, what a fantasitc, polished and professional looking travel VLOG. Please tell me that it took a whole week to put this together! ;-) You must be grateful to have such wonderful BFFs for this excellent adventure/getaway.
Thank you Russ! This was definitely out of the ordinary for me so while it didn't take a full week, it definitely was more work than my usual talking head stuff :P We had such a lovely time and it's nice to be able to remember it this way so well worth it.

There's TONS of interesting facts and history I could point out in all of these locations, but one I thought that was most interesting is the clock inside the Guardian building at 11:25. That's one of two handmade Tiffany clocks that were made. Still beautiful as ever!

I just watched this video. Detroit is my hometown and I love it. It was so nice to see shots of Eastern Mkt and Belle Isle. If you are ever back in MI and go up north, I suggest Petoskey, Charlevoix and Traverse City. That is where you will get a real Michigan experience. If you visit the Petoskey/Charlevoix area, you must stop in Horton Bay and photograph the General Store. It was a Hemmingway hangout and is mentioned in his books. Before I moved from MI after 50 years my up north cabin was at the west end of Horton Bay. I miss it terribly. Getting back to Detroit photos, I have several of the same shots as yours. I was there recently and shot with the Light Lens Lab 35mm f2 and the 50mm Panchro (leica mounts) on a Sony body. I also got some wonderful shots on the GRIIIx.
Thank you very much for the effort of taking us on this wonderful trip through your photos! This video is such a great accompaniment to watch while eating meals or while taking a break.

Really liked the images coming out of the Olympus Verve; they have a great 'look' to them. Guess you liked shooting with it, as most of the pictures you showed were taken with the Olympus :-)

I live in Michigan, and the Sleeping Bear Dunes area is my favorite. I visited Northport a few weeks ago as well as Suttons Bay and Leelanau State park. I glad you enjoyed the area!

I loved the photos - but that goes without saying by now. What really stood out for me was the great editing and the choice of soundtrack. That was rad! I felt like I came along w y'all..... but I have questions!: 1. Casino CAMERA watch?! gotta see some pics from that. Also, 2. what cam were you filming with at the start of the Day 3 footage? Great photos, I really like the style of the Verve- its got an interesting look.

The opening Day 3 footage was shot on the Verve (I had it captioned originally but somehow that layer didn't export; sorry it wasn't there!)
Very nice travel vlog. It was fun to spend some time with you and your friends in a lovely part of our country. You took some wonderful photos. Funny little twist that ended your B&B stay there but Detroit is a great place for photography of all kinds, lots of grunge, graffiti, old and new buildings, although there are still some pretty sad and unsafe parts of town. I was at Belle Isle in the winter after a snowstorm, it had a quiet and peacefulness about it and the Conservatory and Aquarium were lovely covered in snow.

Loved that vlog Ali. Great story. It seems that the Olympus Stylus Verve was the star. It also looks like it is a bit of a handful in that focusing is sometimes an issue, but those Colors! (or as we say in the U.K. Colours!) I want one :)

I could watch this type of vlog all day! It feels relaxed, yet also feels really well put together, and certainly looks as though it captured the vibe of your trip. who knew Lake Michigan looked so beautiful. A lot of great shots on the Olympus Verve - was it because it was the most convenient? And are your friends on the trip also into photography? - they seemed very used to you taking pictures.
Never thought I would hear the words celebrate and detroit in the same sentence, lol! But this was fun to watch and listen too.

Very fun episode ! I was surprised and impressed by the picture quality coming out of your little Olympus Verve camera. Gotta love that CCD look ! I, like you, am a bit of an old camera accumulator , and just received a the 5 megapixel Nikon Coolpix 5700 yesterday. It is a beautiful looking camera, seemingly new and flawless. But sadly, broken. Both the viewfinder and Lcd just flicker and show no detail of the image in front of them. Sheesh ! A whopping $12.26 down the drain ! Thanks for all your great content and commentary !

You made my day😍. I have lived in eastern PA since 1986, but grew up in Traverse City. My mother was born and raised in Northport (the house is still standing and lived in). I get back a couple times a year to visit my sister. Next time I will take my Nikon 35Ti, which I bought after watching your review (what happened to yours?).

Omgoodness what a small world! I would LOVE to see Traverse City captured with the 35Ti! I let go of mine as I'm simply not shooting enough film these days and wanted someone to be able to get more use out of it but it's still one that I'll re-acquire when I do more film again. I have so many digis to get through for the channel at this point! :P
Michigan is cold as a witches ass in winter...Gets down below 0, in -40 and -50 sometimes ..o wasn't even in the cold part !!! Thank God and greyhound I gone...It is beautiful in the summer but summer is too short...In Oklahoma now its a little better ,my favorite place to live was Australia ,I spent a lifetime down there...;)
We were talking about how cold it must be there in winter. I can truly only imagine. Australia is suuuuuper high on the bucket list to visit. Hopefully soon!

Watching you thrifting digicams, I would like to ask you if the chargers for them are kinda universal or if it's probably a deal breaker if a camera does not came with the charger?

There are universal chargers out there that are great but for $5, picking up a charger is no big deal
