What makes this movie a classic is the fact it barely has any dialouge. With the cavalry officer, the Indian, and Matt Damon narrating as Spirit, I can see why it earns that moniker.
I took my son to the cinema when he was 7 years old, in 2002 to see spirit. It was in English, as the translated version was not shown in our cinema. He fully understood what was happening in the movie, despite the fact that he only knew Danish at the time. I've seen this movie 15-20 times since and cry every time even though I know the ending. ❤ Beats Lion King by Miles!! Spirit is totally underrated ❤❤
❤❤This film is so beautifully made. One of the best movies from my childhood and I've seen it 100 times and I have to hug the tissues at the end of the movie 101 times because I'm crying. Only this film with its music can do that, the lack of dialogue makes it just perfect.
I feel the same way about this movie, i haven't seen it in years and I'm trying not to cry. I definitely need to buy this movie, this song is very meaningful as well. Such a good movie with good music
I always felt sorry that Spirit never met his father, I wonder what happened to him? It would have been beautiful to see him there welcoming his new born son.
This movie makes me so emotional. My sister has always been a horse girl, and when I was a kid she got me into horse riding. I grew out of it eventually but we bonded a lot over horses and we loved watching this movie. It's been 5 years since she passed away from cancer at only 28 years old. I am 27 now and I still can't listen to any of these songs (specifically the finale) without crying. I miss you, sis.
My mom, showed me this movie as a young kid. I think like 4-6 years old. I miss her so much, we watched disney movies together all the time when i was a kid. She fed me junk food whenever i wanted, or whatever i wanted for supper... this movie just means so much to me, spirit growing up, and the horse mom watching her silly horse son....
I never cared much for this movie but this scene where she gives birth is so engrained into my memory 😭. They used to have it on at daycare and I always thought this scene was so weird.
Same here. In my head canon and seeing this film as a 7 year old until around 5th or 6th Grade I always thought that babies were born by being pooped out as I didn’t quite understand anatomy yet LOL I think I was a bit grossed out by this scene too for that reason even though you don’t actually see anything explicit at all.
I only recently saw this movie and I’m so glad I finally did. I can’t get enough of just the way the horses are animated, and I love that they don’t actually speak (besides Spirit’s narration of course)
