Isao Shinomiya is a wise leader, happy to see he doesn’t get affected of what everyone else says when they wanted to “eliminate” Kafka. But think from different perspectives. I like his character so far. I’m also very curious about the kaiju, what their origins are from and what their purpose are. Excited for s2!
Kaiju no.8 regenerating from the core, shows you that Kafka in control still has human restraints and that is why the punch through his own chest was meaningful.
I saw Kauji No. 8 merch/posters when I went to Japan earlier in the year and honestly I had been avoiding it for a bit as from the outset it didn't seem like it would be the hit it was. So glad I decided to check it out!
You guys should read the Kaiju No.8 relax manga( It's cannon, and it shows just more of Mina, kafka, Reno, and kikrou, and it happened in the before kafka was reveal as No.8 Example: *A Blushy Mina* ( the forbidden side of her) and *funny moments* )
The series has the perfect balance of comedy, exhilarating and hypeness! So many questions left to answer indeed! I don’t know if you noticed but the cliffhangers are somewhat similar to Demon Slayer that it’s so frustrating but good. 😂
Isao has always been good, he's a bit rough, but he has that warrior like demeanor of someone who spent a lot of time on the battlefied and has seen a lot of people die. Also if you payed attention closely, since last episode, even if he knew exactly where Kafka's core was, he never target it even once, he clearly had no intention of killing him, unless he turned out completely evil.
So glad you liked it this much! It's one of the few manga I actively read and I was VERY happy with the adaptation we got for S1! I really liked the animation, music and even the fast pacing was very well executed. I'm very excited for S2, I'm sure it will be quite the banger lol
Last episode, Ange and Carlie calling Director General Shinomiya a prick. This episode, Carlie changing her mind and Ange be like "I'm gonna shut up.". LOL~
Idk if theyll show it next season but what they did in the manga was souch more feels when relaying the good news, while Kafka reconnected with everyone via phone text/voice messeges.
Love Kaiju No.8. Love the second chance story with Kafka. Mina's character will develop more + a new fan favourite (he made a cameo in this episode; poorly drawn though).
Kafka is the older brother character that every anime needs. He really turns what could be a generic battle anime into a story of a guy who loves helping out others so much, he will take the back stage to the heros, and only risks revealing his true power when someone else is at risk of getting killed. Just so good vibes. I really hope that they get more into Mina and Kafka's relationship. I'm glad they are still so close, even while being so far apart. I dont care if it ends up romantic or just partnership, they are the best of vibes.
After this episode I jumped right into the manga. I needed to know what happened after this. It's kind of annoying that this is a series that posts the chapters every two weeks but it's pretty cool.
When you finish your next anime you should watch Dr Stone. Lots of adventure, action, fun, comedy, and sweet or emotional moments. Plus science. And I think Ange will like the OPs and EDs.
I thoroughly enjoyed the manga. But the anime took it to an entirely new level. Was so shocked how amazing it was. I think it’s my favorite anime of the year. It hit on every mark. Action, humor, comraderie, heart, suspense(gotta love those cliffhangers! 😉 haha) Oh and the MUSIC!!! So excited for season 2.
In addition to them not knowing if kafka could make a really powerful weapon, it'd be a matter on who could use it. He's on par with the number 2 weapon and literally only general shinomya can use it. So they would need someone as powerful or more so than the general
I absolutely agree.... but then there's this other anime from a light Japanese novel, "I parry everything". It wasn't promoted as big as Kaiju no. 8 but I believe this is the surprise anime of the year to the point that they dubbed it and there is only one episode left for the dub... The story is wholesomely remarkable!
I wasn’t gonna but I ended up breaking down and reading the manga and I just have to say….the general guy is a good one, the back story about the mother 🥺 The captains from the other divisions that we get introduced to are awesome but if I had to pick my absolute favorite character of the show 🤔 it’d be the vice captain of the 3rd division right now. It really just depends on how the story goes if that changes, Kafka is a great character too but right now for me it’s the vice captain. It’s a great story so far I hope it continues to be great and I hope we get some new chapters soon!!

This was definitely a sleeper and if not Dandandan it would be anime of the year for me great characters, balance of comedy and story, and action scenes chef kiss. So funny mr Angelo said the last part of the fight was like Hulk, I heard that hulk vs Loki inspired that for 8vs the Director. So the guy that the Director ordered not to kill Kafka, I can’t member his name he took off his helmet, I believe is getting a prequel spinoff. It was announced after this first aired so I may be wrong it’s him, but I’m 95% sure. And lastly again I interpreted shinomiya saying she need to be stronger to kill Kafka not because she lost faith in him or it’s wavered, but if he dose go full Kaiju, the level she’s at now is nowhere strong enough to do it if need be. Her dad even says if they made 8 a weapon it’s be weaker then if they just used him now as is. Oh and nice to Mina come out of work mode, even for just a minute. Sorry I rambled. Thank yu for all yu both do.
Two theories I have after the finale: (I haven't read the manga, so please no spoilers whether they're right or wrong) - Kafka's Kaiju is actually a good guy who wants to kill all the Kaijus (it did say "Kill...Kaiju"), and it went so crazy on Kikoru's dad because he had the same presence as Kaiju No.2 while using his weapons. - if Kaiju No.9 transforms into humans by eating them and No.10 wanted to eat Hosjina to get stronger, that seems to mean that they get stronger the more humans they eat, so maybe they started as regular Kaiju that just got away with it long enough. That would in turn mean the Kaiju No.8 "sacrificed" itself by making Kafka est it so he could turn into a Kaiju. That would also explain why he regained controll at the end AFTER the inner Kaiju ate him, because that would give it the ability to turn human. If that's the case then Kafka abd Kaiju No.8 should be pretty balanced and not loose control again so easily. I'll definitely watch the next season, this show was so great!!

We all know who Kafka was but for him and everyone else Kafka could be just a regular guy (why mention regular? hmm) with not enough willpower and could ended up became a mindless Kaiju (which is the point of the test) or even worse he could be another infiltrator like number 9 but smarter.
One way to see the quality of the show would be: SOLID. It doesn't need to be the most hyped up sh*t, and that's one of the strongest points of it. Usually when a series is overhyped the fandom is at fault and it devalues the perception of it. I don't want it to be the next big thing, I want it to keep what it is, a good quality and solid series.
However, as a result, it stays under the radar and is less likely to remain alive years later due to people overlooking it. Also the author and team behind making it great deserve to be handsomely compensated. The points about the fandom is valid, but I think that's a very small setback in the grand scheme of things if the team cooked and did a great job. Would rather an ATLA situation than be in development hell or starving artist hell, or only being alive for 1 season.

I love this anime... But if you think about it, the story is kind of cliché ...and the power of friendship is something every anime lovers getting sick at😅... I hope the author changes the cliché direction of the story🌚

The bait and switch was real with this story. 30 yr old protag of a shounen series? Works janitorial jobs for a living? Huh. Sign me up. What do I end up with? A 16 yr old whippersnapper trapped inside a slightly older body. Even his mannerisms are cringe for his age.
The Manga was selling like crazy since vol 1, without an anime, but I think it died down now, I for one dropped the Manga after a couple of arcs... The adaptation is good, but not that special, imo, I fucking hate that "Naruto-like faces" that they did in this adaptation, compare with the Manga later 🤮 Maybe these points helped with the "low" hype, dunno, just my opinion...
I think Kaiju no8 wasn't as hyped because it didn't really bring anything new, it kinda borrows from other anime like AoT. also the main character is an older dude, but the anime isn't very dark, so I guess it only attracts a small subset of anime watchers (you guys and me being one of them lol). while I really enjoyed season one, I think my rating of this anime will hugely depend on how they handle future plot, can they make something special with it?
It's the best 1st season Anime of 2024 anyway. I'll rank Elusive Samurai at 2nd place. Overrated trashy anime like wind breaker, solo leveling & dandadan are the worst!
