We got lucky! Best known for his 1984 photograph 'Afghan Girl', legendary photographer, Steve McCurry, stopped by Nikon School's Centre of Excellence in London and we got to ask him a few questions. Yes he is a legend. In my bag I have 2 x Nikon D7000 with some zoom, primes, flash, gels, filters, remote and a lot of others things.
I hope to get a D810 soon.

Why did he leave Nikon for Leica?

Nikon has been dropping some of its long time ambassadors and replacing them with younger social media influencers. Potential Leica customers will have heard of Steve but won't be aware of the Insta celebrities. It's a good camera, well suited to what he does but doesn't offer any advantage over what he had before.

He never ‘left’ Nikon but Leica made him an ambassador. He’s been using Leicas for decades but mainly consistently Nikon.
