    A moment of silence as we now remember the first Bond...James Bond, who has left us at the age of 90. An icon, legend and Oscar-winner. Rest in Peace, Sir Sean Connery.

    I often wonder if Sean ever told anyone over the years of the time he took a photo of me in a Coffin when I was his Apprentice at Starks in Haddington. I lived in Tranent at that time and worked with him from early 1951 till he quit the job in 1952 to go to London to try his luck on the Stage. In May of 1952 I was Conscripted into the Royal Corps of Signals for two years of National Service. The photo Sean took of me was in my Parents house in Tranent. I was sent on a four month posting to Aden in the Middle East and while I was there my Mother threw the photo out as she said it gave her the CREEPS. Sean was quite a character and would chase me and the Apprentice Cabinet Maker and when he caught one of us he would put us in a Coffin and sit on the lid. He was into Bodybuilding at that time and used me as a lifting weight. He was 6ft. 2ins. and I was 5ft. 5ins and 125lbs. After I got back from Aden I was posted to the War Office in London where I spent the remainder of my Service. I was stationed in Woolich Barracks and commuted by train each day to the War Office. I have fond memories of the time I worked with Sean. May he R I P.

      Wow that must have been amazing as you watched how famous he was to get. Weird to think he had his own apprentises when he was 22, brilliant story! Have to add, my old neihbour whos been dead about ten years said he used to drive Sean around in his car, going out on the town, etc. His name was Dave Blair and i used to cut his hedge, lol.

    I too gre up in Scotland. My strongest reason for not living there is something called Seasonal Affective Disorder , SAD for short caused at least in part by the incessant rain and the short winter day. Sean Connery delivered milk from the dairy across the park from my aunt's, here I spent my early childhood and many weekends

    • @anus26
      @anus26 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Scottish have their own government yet the English don't. The Scots also had a vote for independence - something the English people never got. As for the English deciding for Scotland (not true), why should 5 million scots take precedence over 50 million English? Don't you understand democracy?

    • @wallycustard1340
      @wallycustard1340 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Scots cost the english £14 billion a year because of a financial settlement called the Barnett Formula. This is £2,600 the english tax payer pays annually to the average Scot. They spend it on things like free prescriptions and free university fees. So the Scots get far more from the state, paid for by the English.
      Scotland is a hotbed of the cancer that is socialism. After the last general election they sent to Westminster 41 Labour MPs, 11 Lib Dems, 6 SNPs and just the one Conservative. Get rid of this lot and the whole complexion of Westminster changes vastly for the better. At the moment the Celtic tail wags the English dog, preventing the English from getting the governments that they vote for.
      Racism. A significant number of Scots are anti English racists, I know, I have lived there. They call them white settlers. Yet far, far more Scots live in England as economic migrants and they don’t get called white settlers in england.
      Braveheart, even Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels would have been proud of this totally fictitious piece of Hollywood propaganda. Yet very many Scots are stupid enough to believe it. But then they get most of their history from the fiction of Sir Walter Scott, so this is nothing new.
      The UK banking crisis and bail out was disproportionately caused by Scottish financial institutions that were bailed out by the English. Had Scotland been independent they would have been in a worse position than the Irish or the Greeks. The idea of the “Celtic Tigers” has been shown to be just a ridiculous joke, the reality is that they spend far more than they earn and get away with it because of huge English subsidies.
      The West Lothian question. Those 59 Scottish MPs at Westminster get to vote on matters that have huge impact on English voters and none whatsoever on Scottish voters (because of their devolved parliament). This is totally undemocratic.
      Gordon Brown, this reason alone is enough to kick the Scots out of the UK. He came down to London and trashed the British economy, we are all suffering now (and will be for a long time to come) from the damage that his profligate spending did to the country. But he was just the latest in a long line of misguided Scottish socialist who sought to impose their discredited creed on the English. We would be vastly better off without them.

    • @wallycustard1340
      @wallycustard1340 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You say scotland continously get a tory government. Are you a child? May I remind you tha Britain suffered under the Lair Brown labour government for ten years. We are still paying the price.

    • @wallycustard1340
      @wallycustard1340 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohhhh so scotland not voting for independence is all the BBc's fault is it? Well if thats the case, Scotland better not go it alone because the scottish people are obvioulsy too gullible to be left on their own. Jeeze! The scots are the world's biggest moaners and cry babies. Always someone else's fault, isn't it?
