Punakha was the capital of Bhutan untill 1955 until the capital moved to Thimphu. It is 72 km from Thimphu and there are few spots that we cannot miss as we travel from Thimphu to Punakha. First comes the Dochula pass. Then the holy Chimi lhakhang, the fertility temple blessed by the devine mad man Drukpa Kunley. And finally the Punakha Dzong which is doned in intricate craftsmanship.
