Diana is 42 years old and isn’t even the 2nd best player on her team anymore. Or take off Chelsea Gray - who has been injured all year and hasn’t even played a game yet. Clark has better 2024 numbers than Chelsea’s 2023 numbers. Both of these players are guards just like Caitlin.
Taurusi is more efficient. Better percentages and way less turnovers. Chelsea gray is shooting way way better than clark and way less turnovers. Plus they both have tons of experience.

Caitlin has demonstrated the physical strength and ability to handle the international game at the junior level (3 Gold medals and MVP honors). Caitlin's ability to excel with the WNBA players who won the last 7 Olympic Championships is also meaningful. Building cohesion with the women 4th in assists in the WNBA seems worth the effort for millions of fans and promoting women's basketball here and around the world. And there is no way to compare Clarke against any other WNBA player ever because nobody has ever been guarded like she is which tells you already that she must be the best offensive player the league has ever seen.

I hate how the media and twitter people have taken up Clark as their savior and hasn’t watched the game. They are no basketball reasons that she should be on the team. Because of defensive 3 seconds, players are allowed to stay inside the paint minimizing the floor spacing. Fouls are not called as easily and she is a small guard, she has not taken wnba contact well. Rossi is a 3 time gold medalist, be real. Caitlyn is a phenomenal player and may be the best player in the league or of all time, she is simply not there yet. She may be the best rookie of all time, she is not there yet. I watch the sport and they shouldn’t sacrifice the legitimacy of the league for views.

The women's USA Olympic basketball team does not deserve Caitlin Clark. It's a terrible mistake to go with older veterans that bring no profit, no attention and very little interest to watch. They had an opportunity to actually bring the excitement and new fans that would have helped all of them make a profit. But it seems like the WNBA is content with relying on the NBA for its 15 million dollars every year to fund the WNBA so it does not go bankrupt. And of course its a lot of jealousy going on. At the very minimum, CC on the team would have smashed the women's Olympic team viewership records and then the majority of people would actually find out that they have 7 straight gold medals and won their 8th with CC on the team.
