Brother which is the best saxophone you bought and use
Ive been wanting to try legere but they don't come stiff enough. Oh well
What app is your tuner? Nice big screen
Hey Scott. I’m using Cleartune.
I have been using a Yamaha 4C since i started alto sax 4 years ago. I am thinking about stepping up to a more advanced mouthpiece because I am playing first alto in band and the sound is too bright even though the reed is the right strength for me (3). What mouthpiece would you recommend? Selmer C* seems to be a good choice, but it is too expensive.
sunny guan it would be worth the investment. There is not really a mouthpiece between 35 and 120 euro's (should be about the same in dollars). That is not from plastic I think. Take a look at sax.co.uk maybe there is. And there is a promotion for the s80 selmer going for 60 pounds (about 75 euro's or dollars maybe a bit less in dolars because you don't need to pay VAT)
Ah ok i bought the selmer c* just now. Do you personally own a c* and a 4C? What are the tone difference for you? Thanks for replying!
sunny guan the selmer gives me a much more balanced sound without the high frequence overtones the 4c does. It also gives me much more control in general wich makes it more versitale. You can make a purer sound without sacrificing anything. I hope the c* will help you as well
Thanks for the information. Also, do you encounter the spitty tone problem when you play for a while? I am having that issue a lot and I had been playing for a decent amount of time (4 years). Any suggestions?
sunny guan sorry I'm a bit late......just quickly swab your mouthpiece, neck as well as the body and that should do the trick!....I also have this problem but it is very fixable
i am going to stick to wood reeds until i get better at playing...then i can justify the cost. i just started 2 days ago, been practicing america the beautiful..and Havana song. only ever played trumpet, was learning sax 14 years ago for 2 months, but got moved back to trumpet..
Cool, stick with it and remember to experiment with some different reed sizes to find what works best for you.
Link to Mini-Course does't work
That's strange. Here's a direct link: saxschool.mykajabi.com/store/Fuwzuha7
What saxophone do you use and is it still possible to get it? Also what about mouthpiece? Great videp btw! You have helped me a lot!
Glad you liked it. I'm playing on a Dave Guardala tenor (black nickel model). I've had mine for about 25 years, I'm not sure you can buy them new any more. My mouthpiece is a Theo Wanne Slant Sig 8 which is awesome. Great all-rounder mouthpiece.
The White Christmas link says "not found". Disappointed as like to have ago😊
