I'm glad I found your instruction vids. Very clear and easy to follow along. I also enjoy learning the back ground and explination of the knots that you provide. THANKS
Thank you so much for this!!! Liked, subscribed and bookmarked! I was wary in the beginning of the video thinking "...yea RIGHT I'm gonna be able to tie that!". Your pace is perfect and easy to follow, not a lot of chatter (just the right amount to educate us and set the stage). I will say the "magically appearing rope" trick in the intro was awesome LOL! Thanks for that. Please keep making these videos. I'm an artist and you have just opened my world to a whole new series of work!! SO EXCITED!!!
Thank you so much! I'm teaching an Irish/Celtic class for St. Patty's Day and will add this. So beautiful and actually easy to follow. You have a great talent!
It's so beautiful it's almost spiritual, thank you for sharing. I'm making things for my husband this year so I thought I could make him a whole bunch of different celtic knots since he really loves them.
Hey this was a fabulous discovery because I am doing a art project that involves different Trees Of Life in a variety of cultures. This is super. I got it down and it makes me excited about doing more!!! You instructional video is exceptional! Catherine
I am druidess in training and after learning about the great oak and learning "as above so below" I have been wanting some symbol of it. thank so much for putting this up
ithank you so much for the time you took to make this short film n teaching, thebeautiful introduction and music.so happy to find it on the web/genoius indeed
Knot only (yes a knot pun ha ha) does this knot have great meaning, but, it may be just me, it looks beautiful as it comes together. Hard to explain, so I won't try. . . I'm just gonna try to make it, and not stopping til I succeed.
Very, Very Cool, and you did a great job showing how to do it. I had to rewind the video a few times, but I got it.. Thank You So much for sharing!!! :) it's Awesome.. And Beautiful!!!
This was great! I wasn't sure about the length of this to complete, so I started with 8 feet (96 inches) and after completion, there are 37.5 inches on one side and 36 inches on the other, so the whole knot itself took 22.5 inches. More math now to figure out more knots out of the excess on each side :)
Very good video. Now I'm off to try and do with in wire. I'd love to use this knot as the actual "tree knot" in my wire wrapped Trees of Life. I'm excited to try.
Like the Celtic history. Most people don't know that little detail, so I see you've been doing your research. lol Again, always enjoy watching your videos. Very relaxing Tks! PS: If I can make a suggestion, could you put down the author to the music. I enjoy the music but don't know who / were to get it... Again, Tks....
I suspect that if I grab some white nylon, it'll be easier to see what I'm doing than with this black-with-blue-patches 3/8 that I'm using now. Great vid!
GRAAH! Perhaps I have no talent, but the tree times I tried, I just ended up with a horrid circular tangle. Gunnar Not Impressed! Thumbs up for your skillz tho
This is a great video- thanks fir sharing, Just a suggestion for future videos: Would you consider coloring the ends of the rope? There are times when it get difficult to tell which end of the rope that you are using. It would be a lot easier for me to follow along if the ends of the rope were different colors. Thanks again for the awesome video. You do some amazing stuff!
Okay, 20 minutes ago I posted I'd try it, and I have succeeded. I see the problem people run into! It's just like those games you play as a kid, where you follow the kite strings to see who owns which kite, in coloring books. When at the end, make sure you keep it flat, then go to where you need it tightened most, where it loops out biggest, and trace the rope a little way, then tug on it til that part's tight, and work that same line all the way to the bitter end. Repeat throughout. :)
i read somewhere that it may no longer be totally PC to compare the Celts of Britain to the Celts on the mainland. I believe that there are a few Roman accounts that distinguish British Celts from mainland. Saying that theyre are close in culture but still distinguishable enough to be considered separate
Just your video o the tree of life, wow fantastic stuff, I'd really love to try some of these, I've just started to learn carving and had planned on carving the tree of life, can I ask what type of rope you use or can you use any rope, thanks btw my 4 year old daughter love the videos too
I suppose it depends on the thickness of the cord, since a thinner cord will produce smaller knots... I wish they would give at least an estimate, though.
I really cannot see anything but Celtic knot like many have done. There is nothing to separate the earth and universe which is the trunk. Would it make it more realistic if tied the middle together?¿ It’s lovely tho
i have the hardest times ever when making knots, im using thread made into a thin, homemade rope and it always ends up too loose and tangled but i keep going until i cant tell whether im holding it upsidedown or not.
It's a very similar concept yet not exactly the same tree Yggdrasil is the norse world tree that supports the nine worlds a couple of which are Midgard ( realm of men ) and Asgard ( realm of the gods ) Yggdrasil is often thought to be an Ash tree and is where Odin hung wounded by spear for 9 days eventually gaining knowledge of the runes giving both runic magic and the written word to man
Honestly didn't think it would be so easy, there is just one part that fucks me up every time and that is adjusting the knot sadly you were not showing how to do that properly but I managed. One complain: I can't see a thing when you work because of your fingers
Don't try this with leather cords, unless it's real heavy. I had it all right, but couldn't get the cord to quit locking up on it's self, so even tho it was tied right, I really never got to see the finish. I'd do it again with rope.
Absolutely beautiful! I haven't done any knotwork in over 10 years since i was a Scout. I am definitely going to take it up again! Thanks for the great vid. Please have a look at my channel and let me know what you think.
:) Thank you :) but, how can it be too much in feet, when that's the same amount in meters? 250 meters is a lot of rope! I think that's too much as well in meters, lol! In the video it's not that long, isn't it? Well, I first have to buy a rope and than see this video 250 times before I can make it :)
I'm glad I found your instruction vids. Very clear and easy to follow along. I also enjoy learning the back ground and explination of the knots that you provide. THANKS
Thank for showing it so slowly so I can follow along easily! Really like it!!!

Did this with a thin leather cord and tied it around a new candle I just got. It looks so good.
I am druidess in training and after learning about the great oak and learning "as above so below" I have been wanting some symbol of it. thank so much for putting this up
this is just incredible, i couldn't imagine tying these, let alone coming up with the designs
ithank you so much for the time you took to make this short film n teaching, thebeautiful introduction and music.so happy to find it on the web/genoius indeed
You have commendable patience. Thanks for sharing your skill. I shall enjoy practicing!
I wish this guy would tie my shoelaces.

I really love you guys! I'm starting to really enjoy these videos! Such great ideas come from relaxing and watching these :)
beautiful- and gorgeous music, too- excellent!

I haven't been on youtube in a minute, so I have to catch up, Excellent Video.. Thanks for sharing. brightest blessings~
the celts will never cease to amaze me

Wow, I'm so nerding out to this. So cool!!
Thanks, that was easy enough. I've been using up my lengths of fingerloop braid (typical length, about 300mm or ~12")
I like the trance music, it makes the clip more dramatic intresting. ;)
thank you for sharing how to make celtic knots. could you make more videos on on the 8 basic knots you talk about in one of your other videos?
I'm a Celt and I love it :)
I suspect that if I grab some white nylon, it'll be easier to see what I'm doing than with this black-with-blue-patches 3/8 that I'm using now. Great vid!
@Shindai
lol thanks for asking the question i was about to... i am gonna try this when i get the rope.... i love celtic knots.

GRAAH! Perhaps I have no talent, but the tree times I tried, I just ended up with a horrid circular tangle. Gunnar Not Impressed! Thumbs up for your skillz tho
I've just done it and it looks amazing and the best, it's not difficult to tie it.
I love this channel!! :-) :-)
that is so beautiful!

I made this for my girlfriend. She was knot impressed.
Great meditation!

It’s lovely tho
I'm not really sure what you would do with this? How would you utilize this knot?
What type of cord is best to use? How thick and how long should it be?
yay I did it great tutorial C:
Wish it was available for mobile....
Very cool - and interesting factoid :)
i have the hardest times ever when making knots, im using thread made into a thin, homemade rope and it always ends up too loose and tangled but i keep going until i cant tell whether im holding it upsidedown or not.
What's the music and what do you do with the loose ends?
Do you know how to do the celtic four leaf clover knot? Or have a tutorial on it?
How long should the string be? The rope I have is about a meter and a half long and all I get is a floppy tangled mess :/
You guys should explain how much cord to use.
Is there some way I can make this into a bracelet?
i'm having trouble adjusting the knots at the end. any tips on that???
what to use? O.o !!! what type of rope?
now i can tie up my notebooks so people cant cheate, copy or anything but stare in amazement

let me know what is thiss!

what kind of rope/thread are you using?
Helllo Master, I would know if you could make one TRISQUEL.
it seems simple but I have 2 months and I can´t do it.
What do we do with it afterward?
HERE IS LINK TO 10MIN VERSION OF THE SOUND TRACK
ENERGY 52 mix by red jerry
Will it work with para-cord?
Awesome! I almost had it...but...I was trying to tie it with a long string out of sweatpants. Lol. Not quite firm enough to hold its shape. :P
Give credit to that amazing track!!
where does one find cord?
How long is that in meters?
Don't try this with leather cords, unless it's real heavy. I had it all right, but couldn't get the cord to quit locking up on it's self, so even tho it was tied right, I really never got to see the finish. I'd do it again with rope.
I keep messing up around 2:43... what am i doing wrong
Pretty sure it's just for fun and decoration... But what do I know? I can only tie my shoes in a knot ;)
Isn't the tree called Yggdrasil?
What cord do u use
all good knots start with a clove hitch, why is that?
3 people are knot heads... How can you not like celtic knots?
i believe this is called an yggdrasil. ^-^
Yggdrasil is nordic or germanic, or both, that i do not remember, while the Celtic beliefs and Language are vastly different.
oh my god, i mad it!!! :D :D thanks maan! that's so f ing cool! ^^
my headphones have made this in my pocket....
Make sure you tie this with a loonng and stiffer cord. My first attempt was with a fat yarn, and it didnt work >_
Absolutely beautiful! I haven't done any knotwork in over 10 years since i was a Scout. I am definitely going to take it up again! Thanks for the great vid. Please have a look at my channel and let me know what you think.

Tadaaaaa!
About 2 metres.
Made it! :D
... and now its a big round knot.
:) Thank you :) but, how can it be too much in feet, when that's the same amount in meters? 250 meters is a lot of rope! I think that's too much as well in meters, lol! In the video it's not that long, isn't it?

Yeah, I tried it with cotton string... Damn thing doesn't want to cooperate.
