Order at: US: www.indiemerch.... EU: eu.kingsroadme... Amon Amarth "Cry Of The Black Birds" video from their album "With Oden On Our Side" iTunes: itunes.apple.co...
+Brian Ott Unfortunately due to a persistant and annoying safety board, the video is not allowed to be of higher quality due to the possibility of viewers heads exploding from viewing this video.
Amon Amarth always seems to have a bit of mourning and melancholy to even their most triumphant and destructive riffs, and that's what I really like about them.
Hey Metal Blade Records, can't you upload a higher definition version of the video? The original recording must have been at least 576i, so can't you also put up a 480p or 720p video? This song and video deserves better than 240p! Thanks.
Thorin Oakenshield What I meant is that Metal Blade must have the master video somewhere in storage. Now that 240p looks so ancient on TH-cam (and this vid isn't even full screen 240p!), Metal Blade should upload a higher def version with a "Click here for HD version" annotation as we see on other classic videos. This is a seriously good video, a lot of work went into it and it deserves to be seen in better quality. Yeah, hard to believe the age of this song... still sounds fresh to my ears.
Jake Gordy Seriously, it is not! 240p was a highly compressed, low-res digital video format for the early days of TH-cam & the internet. Both Death Metal and Black Metal (Amon Amarth are Death Metal) were around long before the days of TH-cam. Videos for Black and Death metal were made with analogue video equipment in 576i (European PAL resolution).
The reason why this is one of my favorite songs is that when hes saying "charge your horses across the fields" and such. the flow of the song makes you feel like you're part of a mass charge of horses.. and you can feel the adrenaline pumping like hell man imaging it and all. I'm not obsessive of those sorts of things, but fuck me it would be an experience.
The first time I heard this I was playing the Ghost Rider video game (PS2) Im a nintendo/Xbox fan, but whatever. So I decided to take a walk to a beautiful park, and I was walking up a hill and Crying to this song on my phone, then I turned around on the hill that day and saw the most beautiful sunset, that I won't ever get to see again. It was the most memorable song from Amon Armath.
"Cry Of The Black Birds" Raise your swords up high! See the black birds fly! Let them hear your rage! Show no fear! Attack! Charge your horses across the fields Together we ride into destiny Have no fear of death, when it's your time Oden will bring us home when we die! The ground trembles under us As we make our thunder charge The pounding hooves strikes blinding fear Into their heart Our helmets shine in the sun As we near their wall of shields Some of them turn and run When they hear our frenzied screams Draw your swords to strike Hear the Black Birds cry! Let them feel your hate! Show no fear! (Attack! Attack! Attack! Attack!) Charge your horses across the fields Together we ride into destiny Have no fear of death, when it's your time Oden will bring us home when we die! The enemies are in disarray Ride them down as they run Send them to their violent graves, Don't spare anyone Dead and wounded lie all around, See the pain in their eyes Over the field an eerie sound, As we hear the ravens' cry
These guys are amazing. I have had only one CD in my truck the last year (jomsviking) and I constantly listen to them on my phone through the other albums I have bought. I love that they make a lot of their lyrics from the Eddas and other legends. The music in itself I can either go to sleep to it or go do high intensity training to it. Also watching their interviews makes me like the band even more. Amon Amarth fucking rocks.
I'll never forget when this first came out. I was 15 years old and watching this music video on fuse cuz of all the hype I had heard about this band and their album online. My dad walks by during their head banging in unison and says "hey it's the whirly birds" about as casual as he could and I burst out laughing and could never listen to this song again without thinking of that.
If a band labels themselves as just one genre, then they limit themselves. I think everyone should just agree that Amon Amarth is fucking awesome and has no limit.
Ten years ago... I was in highschool... The 1st time I heard this song it made me instantly feel different... I knew there and then that I'm gonna become a pagan... Ten years after I can reflect on how it changed me and I'm glad I heard it when I did... I heard the call and so glad I answered. Hail Odin!
Through all my salty, wave-lashed exploits around the Baltic, and all booty won there by my blade and fist, never have my eyes beheld such a barbaric video quality. Good thing the song is so insanely captivating. Best band. Best song.
I've never seen the movie but the fact that it had specifically composed music gives it more credibility than using a clip of a song another artist had already assembled. Albeit, can't get more viking than Amon Amarth.
raise your swords to strike hear the blackbirds cry let them feel your hate show no fear charge your horses across the fields together we ride into destiny have no fear of death when its your time oden will bring us home when we die the enemy are in dissarray ride them down as they run send them to their violent graves dont spare anyone dead and wounded all around see the pain in their eyes over the hills an eiry sound as we hear the ravens cry. damn i love this song
Why is it everytime i listen to these guys i feel as if im chugging a few tankards of beer while pilaging a small river village and searching for a wench to take hostage. Jajajaja fing love these guys, they rule!
Oh he said something along the lines of "I am a Viking and if it was legal I would pillage this and that." {Not completely correct but it was something along those lines} So I told him if He was a Viking he would not care if it is legal or not. xD
this is so aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawesome but too good it rocks my soul
They are "Melodic-Death Metal" F*** that sh**, They are METAL! Why do you always have to argue about what kinda music they make just listen to it, if you like!
Genres help you to find music that fits you. And it is much easier to have an idea about their music even before listening it once. Since there is shit ton of metal our there, it is important. Btw Amon Amarth is pure Melodic Death Metal. This comment should be in bands like Cattle Decap or sth which are hard to tell the main genre.
I got to see them this past Friday and it was awesome. I had to jump into the pits for this and Guardians of Asgard. I can safely say that I can happily retire from active moshing after having done so to those two songs.
This is the very first metal song i ever heard... I completely forgot what it was called... and have been searching for it for years now.. I finally found it. (:
man u don't think u're weird u just wanna proove that u r cool or so ... i'm moroccan people in here r muslims n i don't even believe in the gods ... i'm 19 n i've been listenning to death metal since i was 12 n i never not even once thought i'm weird WE ARE UNIQUE HAIL DEATH METAL !!
odin is all powerful, but he cant get a better quality than 240p?
+Brian Ott Unfortunately due to a persistant and annoying safety board, the video is not allowed to be of higher quality due to the possibility of viewers heads exploding from viewing this video.
i guess you have a point. Most people can't handle the vikingness
Well he's not all powerful... So no.
what do you except from one eye?
His power almost destroyed the video...
Amon Amarth always seems to have a bit of mourning and melancholy to even their most triumphant and destructive riffs, and that's what I really like about them.
it is scandinavian, that's why
well said.

"Swirling Motion"
Ummm.... What?
Never wanting to type 'SMH' ever again after reading the way you describe things.
@@GoosedFacedKillah Who are you saying 'tru' to? 'Swirly Coc Boi' or Jeremy who actually responded the correct way?

It surely was but this was uploaded in 2007 so that was about the best quality you could upload at the time.
Damn I feel old.

seriously. 240p is reserved for black metal.

it was a joke, bro.

Yep. You truly feel like you're part of sth greater with this song
"Songs to Play While Raiding, Vol. 1"
This video was filmed like how Odin see's things through his missing eye and eyepatch.
One of the best songs in metal history..and probably the best instrumental
Jeremy Owww my eye Stephens why? He’s damn right
@Jeremy Owww my eye Stephens I agree....... this isn't on my top 1000 songs . Funny thing is that isn't a bad thing .
I've listened to death metal and hardcore since around 1990 and I think he has one of the best metal voices
Ah, one of the most epic songs I discovered in my high school years \m/ never forget
Me too bro me too. Found this in my tripp pants years. Amon amarth, otep, and cradle of filth off lime wire.
Agreed. This band is one of the most epic as well. 🤘🔥
This got me pumped up before I’d get into a fight in hs lol
Hell yea bro me too
Fuck yeah! You were a fucking badass in high school
WAHOO THIS VOLUME IS AWESOME..............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best amon amarth song imo. Brutal yet very melodic \m/.
2020, still their best song recorded in my opinion 100% sick guitars.
"Cry Of The Black Birds"
Raise your swords up high!
See the black birds fly!
Let them hear your rage!
Show no fear!
Attack!
Charge your horses across the fields
Together we ride into destiny
Have no fear of death, when it's your time
Oden will bring us home when we die!
The ground trembles under us
As we make our thunder charge
The pounding hooves strikes blinding fear
Into their heart
Our helmets shine in the sun
As we near their wall of shields
Some of them turn and run
When they hear our frenzied screams
Draw your swords to strike
Hear the Black Birds cry!
Let them feel your hate!
Show no fear!
(Attack! Attack! Attack! Attack!)
Charge your horses across the fields
Together we ride into destiny
Have no fear of death, when it's your time
Oden will bring us home when we die!
The enemies are in disarray
Ride them down as they run
Send them to their violent graves,
Don't spare anyone
Dead and wounded lie all around,
See the pain in their eyes
Over the field an eerie sound,
As we hear the ravens' cry

A better quality video would be appreciated...
My volume's as high as it can go... and it's still not loud enough! :(

Damn amazing 🤟☠️ show no fear 🤩
Like the music video for _Twilight of the Thunder God,_ I'd say this music video is worth a re-upload/update/remaster in quality, framerate and audio.
Who cares what history says about vikings. The only thing that matters is that they kick ass.
Amon Amarth Rules!!
it seems the best games are released in platinum, and the best music is released in 240p
An inspiration and motivation in my life
Actually its the firs song of AA i;ve heard, liked it a lot, pls give me some more titles which r worth hearing !
This one is the best Amon Amarth song by far..

Best band. Best song.
Why is this sound so low?
I love it when he smiles at the end.... I would to
Probably their best song . His vocals are insane

i always imagined some shit like the persian horses coming over the hill in the beginning of 300.
LOL As utterly awesome as these guys are, Amon Amarth are not Viking Metal, nor did they invent it. Can't wait to see them at Graspop this weekend!
i can never listen to this once i always hit replay
the best vocal... I didn't hear better than this!
Amon Amarth, gracias por existir, gracias por ser mi banda favorita de melodic death metal lml

C'mon METAL BLADE? You can't do better than 240p quality? Sounds like it was sent on a flip phone in 2004.
is it me or does metal sound good no matter what the quality is? haha \\m//
the best song of them. and hard to learn on guitar!
most epic windmill ever. Don't think there could be anything better

This song is so fucking epic, it sends shivers down my spine!
Hail the Viking Metal kings!
Ses çok kaliteli bizim kulaklar buna layık değil biraz düşürün şunu.
Too much awesome... brain melting...
this is just too, too good
This is probably on of their top 3 songs for me.....
My brother (same age as me) got to go see them in concert. I wanted to go and was told that I couldn't "because I'm a girl".
that's babyback bullshit of the highest degree.
Amen
Not sure if I should like...or dislike. Anyway: poor you. o-o
amon amarth gigs get fairly messy.... but your brother should have just kept you close and away from the pit, easy done.
cal m Psh, knowing my brother I'd be lucky if he didn't knock me out and push me in head first. He's never had anything but hatred for me.
Listening to this as Perrin Aybara makes his charge into the Trollocs to save Galad Damodred! \m/
YES
Eyy, we got a fellow cool person here :P
That was my thought when I read that.
