I'm a western washington guy myself. Blacktail are hard to come across, but I've had pretty good success. I just stay out in the woods until I get what I came for. Sometimes it's opening day, and sometimes I'm out there for a couple weeks. I don't come out until dark, and only get supplies after hunting time. I know a lot of folks can't do it like that, but that's how I fo things. I also don't really hike in with a big pack. I normally bring a fanny, and make sure I have a couple of waters. Sometimes I cover 10 miles a day. It's hard, but I love it.
Invest in a jet boil. Fits in your pack, and you can boil water really fast. Top romen and hot dogs and coffee too can be made up on this unit. Even coffee also.

Yes, I agree, sometimes hunting becomes work and I move around too much versus taking my time.
You need to make your way over to VA and hunt some whitetail with your son-in-law! I liked, commented, and subscribed for the algorithm!
Good luck out there
Thanks

We really not gonna mention him completely neglecting to react to bro unloading 50 rounds two cuts over? 😂
