    This was an extremely informative series. I pulled tons of ideas and knowledge from each of these videos; lots of things to think about as I continue growing my small system. Huge thanks to you guys for discussing so many different aspects of the system so thoroughly!

    Great ending to the monster series, thanks guys! Would love an episode on Chris' gigging case and the careful choices for that. And... everyone lost their bets since no modules were fried, it was close though :-)

    What an incredible series so far, happy to learn that this is not last of series. Great suggestion by Chris on future episodes, going into details with modulation and lfo's etc etc. The three of you have been marvellous and work well together. Looking forward to all going forward. Stay safe..

    Hi, everyone - thanks for watching, and the lively chat stream! I promised a couple of links during the 'cast; here they are:
    1) Knobs I prefer in place of Davies for the Happy Nerding FX Aid (and tight spots in general to replace Davies): www.tedss.com/2051000060
    They're not pretty, but they work.
    2) Me jamming with Aaron Higgins of 1010music, with Aaron using just a pair of his Blackboxes: th-cam.com/video/G5Li_OsqhBU/w-d-xo.html
    3) The patch diagram for the first patch, using the Patch & Tweak online patch editor: editor.patchandtweak.com/patch/279

      Thanks for the nice comments on my jam with Aaron! We had never played together before, and I had never heard him play (he'd seen me jam with others once before, I think). The only thing discussed beforehand was who was going to be the clock master (him, in this case). He essentially had a set piece he likes to improvise/perform, and I was reacting to that. I'm very pleased with how it came off.

    Alas, I was unable to follow the live stream, so now I'm following it with some delay. With respect to the René patch, using the carthesian character of that sequencer: I have a Tiptop Z8000 and for such a patch as was shown I would also use a clock for the X direction and then let all 4 rows of the Z8000 end up in a quad sequential switch, and clock this switch for the Y direction. Same result as was shown during the live stream :-)

    Was going to say, I run modular outs direct into my Mackie 24x8. Bought some Ladik P-530 and P-520 expecting to need them but soon discovered I didn't.

    @44:30 i appreciate tension and inharmonic intervals even in more melodic pieces but it definitely works better w/ some distance unless you’re on your Jesus Lizard or Neurosis guitar game.

    Interesting, not a SINGLE Instruo part anywhere in sight. Guessing the OCHD will be the only one at some point. Makes me go hmmm.

    15/8 ;)

    • @LearningModular
      @LearningModular 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never bothered to count it out before, but you're right! The trigger pattern is 3/8 (or 3/4, depending on how you count), and the note pattern is 5 notes long (C minor 7th chord, with the octave above added, and the minor 3rd moved up an octave to give it a more open sound).

    • @gunnarwaage4343
      @gunnarwaage4343 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LearningModular I usually don't count out music unless I need to learn it but I once did a track with Percy Jones in 15/8 so it kinda sticks :). I´m going to take the rest of your courses, lots to learn.

      @@DivKid no I have a dry sardonic humor that perhaps comes across as being dismissive. I do ponder the validity of having so many modules that creativity takes a back seat to technical maintenance but I do like to learn and there was a lot of that here.

    • @LearningModular
      @LearningModular 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kellymerrill5294 my hopeful goal is to solve all of the technical issues up front, so I can focus on being creative when I go to use the instrument later. For example, power, noise, tuning, and how I am going to record are now things I don't have to worry about when I turn the instrument on and want to try a creative idea.
