Gary is the most amazing man in the world. I personally admire his strength to fight depression. We've waited seven years to see him back on stage, smiling and having a great time. I hope that his career goes on, because I love his lyrics.
excellent speech from someone who is talking from his heart - from someone who had seen the evolution of the music scene in Northern Ireland. People of the Northern Ireland must feel so blessed to have Gary Lightbody for sharing his music and life to them - and going extra mile for the sake of music. The change in the music scene in NI is brought about by the inner artistry of its people and driven by the peace they are experiencing! Hope more of someone like Gary Lightbody would rise from there.

This is not Technology, Entertainment nor Design. He just spouting nostalgia tinted reflections of his dire local music scene, and also seems to be trying to plug various elements of it. Has TED lowered the speech regulations and made it acceptable for commercial entities to be explicitly promoted. Surely there are more interesting and innovative musical topics than this being explored in Ireland presently.
