I am actually learning this song on drums right now. At first I thought it was just stamina to keep the bpms for 4 minutes, but after studying his playing, its much more about his technique and how he can keep up this pace not only for this for but most all other JD/NO songs especially during a 2 hour set. Probably my favorite drummer!
Got this on a bootleg years ago and it’s brilliant for a rehearsal and would of been their best single if Ian could of been on the finished recording, also the this is the version I learned how to play it on bass and guitar.
This is why it’s so unnerving Would you say the same old story? This is why the wheels are turning Turn away and turn towards this time Listen now the savior’s calling Come again and we will be there Traveled fast but now I’m stopping Think again and change its way this time Oh, I’ll break them all, no mercy shown Heaven knows I got to get somewhere Crash and burn, the things I did The times she cried, too frail to wake this time I’ll break them all, no mercy shown Heaven knows I got to be somewhere Avenues all lined with trees Picture me in ten year’s time, watching Watching forever Watching forever Where I will go, they will go Where I will go, they will go Wherever I go, they will go
Ian was still working on lyrics at this point. This is my record, unmoving Everything the same old story Frozen while the wheels are turning Float away and fail to walk this time Focused on the same rude calling Unaware that he will leave her Want to crack but I won't find her Think again and think toward this time I'll break them all, no mercy shown Heaven knows, I've got to touch someone Watching her, the sinking ship The times she tried, to frail to wake this time. I'll break them all, no mercy shown Heaven knows, it has to lead somewhere Avenues, all lined with trees Picture me and then you start watching Watching forever Watching forever And I will turn...turn to stone And I will turn... turn to stone Turn to stone Turn to stone
@Malte Laurids Brigge I found this in another video, a guy write the lyrics based on what he listened, and I've seen around 3 lyrics that fit and everyone can be listed while you read them so I'm not sure which is the real one: This is why it's so unnerving Would you say the same old story? I read in somebody else’s comment that Bernard had to use a graphic equalizer (whatever that is) I think it’s when the sound shows up as up and down based on frequency to help him figure out the words
i think this was to close to ian they altered it out of respect i have heard berrny say they did not like to ask ian about lyrics it seemed so personal i was lucky enough to see them support the buzzcocks a few years later or months i would have stayed in the bar getting hammed must go im in the bar getting hammed still telling my old war division stories.closer rip peel
I wonder if this could be improved by using the A.I demixing technology that was used on The Beatles for the recent remix of Revolver. If you could isolate the vocals with machine based learning it might be possible to finally get a version of this song with Ian's vocals.
No leave it alone, it’s been done and it’s sounds nothing like him, sounds like a robot version of him lacking the emotions and the humanity. I can’t believe people think AI versions of a dead singers voice is ok.
@@timcolivet7343 also it’s a lack of respect to use his voice to make a version you want to hear, I have this version and it’s fine and you feel the emotions without hearing him clearly and that’s natural as you can feel it and that’s enough.
AI can’t do the things everyone thinks it can and it couldn’t make that song better, look for it and if you any sense you will hear it sounds terrible.
No that’s awful as I said to another comment on here it is what it is and bloody AI is just talking his humanity away and you just have a robot that sounds a bit like him.
@@transmissionggb2820there’s so good versions out there already, give them a try; they’re the closest we have to if ceremony was ever recorded in a studio
Can we talk about the drumming for a moment? Mr. Morris is a transcendent percussionist. This particular performance is divine.
he is quite tremendous--a human metronome, but with such power
Hiya Watha Stephen Morris is
A bloody great drummer.

That's why they call him "the human drum machine".
What a perfect chemistry! 4 young very talented kids!

Man them lyrics at the end looking back. Truly heart-wrenching.
"Picture me in 10 years time, still watching
...watching forever..."
The definition of raw. And that's why it will always have a place deep down in my nethers.
Joy division forever in our heart ❤

For everything, let it be so.
Forever, let it be so.
"Forever , the story's been told."
Not in this video at the end, he clearly sings truth be so
I feel like he says "Heaven knows, I've got to be stronger."
This version of the lyrics is epic! I still wish JD had done a proper recording of this song.
I like the part where the bass goes real high like "bing...bing bing bing bing bing bing"
That's Peter Hook's entire career in a nutshell.
@@johnlucas2317 ?
I love playing it
This version is quite interesting. Has an even darker undertone. I often wonder if this song was a confessional...
Sounds like physical connection was lost with his partner and she no longer wanted him sexually.
rest in peace ian ❤ youre like a god to me
thank you soooo soooo much for uploading the video and lyrics!
THANKS STEVEN G FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO WRITE THE LYRICS RESPECT
O MIJ GOD ...the best volume in sound, this is fantastic
I watching the joyfull division in iran 2024
i love this timeeee...🥲

best version
Wow thank you Ian sounds so depressed here.
i CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT ION MISSED ALL THIS : (
Love this thank you
This takes me back to listening to garage bands in High School❤️ I miss those days.
Pimche rolón para escuchar de madrugada
Y todo el día
Brilliant.
Ceremony by Joy Division is better than Ceremony by New Order.
Seems the more ragged and rough joy division is the better they sound
Great song thanks for uploading
This song makes me want to get up and dance ! :)
Best song ever assembled
Makes me sad.

Second and third verse were pretty close though.
Hooky !!!!
"Travelled fast but now I'm stopping"...
3:59 till ending is aweseome!
looks like the brunel gig..
Maybe because I'm on pain medicine...but did Ian move in this image?
They say that even in pictures he does his dance
I always thought it was
"Forever, watching love grow.
Forever, where did it go?
Which I like and will always sing it that way.
Acording to the etching on the 12" Ceremony single by New Order it reads 'Watching love Grow - Forever'
Manchester.
Lyrics are incorrect. Still good audio though
David Davidson what u mean incorrect? Bernard wrote it wrong!
@@jumofi uh I think he mentioned the lyrics in the description of the video
how you get first gen tape?

To all who have gone before. Jesus save us.
