The conference was so much fun! I look forward to attending next year...but right now I'm ready to make this jacket lol. I just finished cutting my pattern pieces. Ready to follow along =)
Mimi i think you are a fantastic seamstress. This video was a mess. I always admired how neat your sewing was, and precise. You seemed to struggle with this jacket. A revised video would be nice.
Hi! I am a new subbie. I love all the articles of clothing u have made. I am new to the sewing my own clothes at home. Will u please give me advice on what type of machine to buy and should I enroll in my local junior college to take class and one more thing is the a special iron for sewing do i need a mannequin for doing dress? Thank You in advance
Do don't clean finish the pocket edges, or line them, put interfacing in the collar or front facing and where is the finished product, I would love to see it, the colors are very pretty.
So I'm working on this pattern but jacket A and I'm having a difficult time putting it together The directions is not as simple to follow and you're working on jacket B on this video is there another way that I could find out easier to put this jacket together
I agree with the comment below, it would have been nice to see the jacket when finished. If a garment needs interfacing, then that should be shown. What a mess she got herself into. Make the jacket first, sew the lining, insert lining, or hand stitch lining piece by piece. What were the fabrics used? This is enough to put a beginning or novice sewer off.
Is it normal that I have trouble telling which side is the front of some materials? Are there any tips or suggestions to tell they difference when they look very similar? When I am watching you on this video, the sides looked the same which made me wonder if there is something I should be looking for. I am a new sewer, but very interested is learning. I did quilts last year. I am ready to try to make things I can wear.
gmilinia I know you were looking for her to respond, but I know a little. I'm a new sewer, too. How I tell the difference is the "right" side of the fabric tends to be a bit darker than the "wrong" side that'd be lighter or more pale, if you will. too, fabrics may be the same on both sides. hope this helped.
Look at the selvage edge on both sides, sometimes there is a difference, and look for the little holes where the fabric was placed on the loom, that is sometimes a clue, then either put a chalk mark or hand stitch a piece of paper to the wrong sides of each piece you cut out of the fabric/garment you are making. Sometimes it is just pick on side you like, and do the marking for wrong side, just with a slash of chalk, hope that helps you.
Do you have the books "Jackets for real people" and "Fit for real people" by Patti Palmer and Marta Alto? Excellent books on pattern fitting, especially doing Full bust adjustment and Y-shaped full bust adjustment for a very large bust. Also the LA studio blog also has a useful post on doing FBA's too.
Making a lined jacket is not a beginner pattern. Her jacket was perfectly fine. If you buy the pattern you know what type of material to purchase for your jacket.
Not a beginner Boo, Not complaining about her pattern I love her I even joined her classes when I 1st started I already completed jacket B it's just a it's not lining up that's all I said unless you're going to give me a video how to complete it please don't comment cause I really was not speaking to you
I think I was on the make up haul, but my question was about fabric. I would like to know where to purchase some of the fabric you are using. Love that green.
I absolutely love Mimi and the video's however this one left me a little disappointed. I struggle with linings and I choose this video thinking there would be an opportunity for me to gain wisdom and knowledge as it pertains to linings, and I was sadly disappointed. I am also a tad disappointed that the finished project was left lying on the table. I suspect that maybe it was not as tight (professionally finished) as her finished products usually are so...... Maybe it's me, but in this video Mimi seemed a little unorganized or not as neat and organized as she usually is. I love the videos and I appreciate them but this one left me incomplete.
Lisa Richbourg , I have to agree with you. I am just getting around to making this pattern. It's the first one of many I have made. I am still working on the lining. Hopefully, I get through the this one. I don't refer to the tutorials to make her patterns, however, this one is the first. I went flying to the tutorial for this one, lol. When she got to the lining, I was like, "oh...no..what".
i am so lost on this pattern you are trying to make . some numbers are omitted and some steps also , what is wrong ? now i am trying to fix it myself that is why i bought it but never again will i buy your patterns and i have lots of them. And i love to sew.
I'm too having difficulties with jacket a and I was trying to explain that but someone wrote a comment as if I don't know what I'm doing however I don't know if certain things are missing and the darts are not adding up and this is not the 1st time this has happened using Hers and other people patterns I get it some errors do happen in the mark up but jacket a is so difficult to do I already completed jacket B but jacket a is not lining up
+SimplicityVideo Okay? In the instructions for view A. It doesnt say how to put the Yoke (Pattern Piece number 20) on the blazer. It goes from putting the pockets and then jumps into sewing the back and front pieces to the blazer.
You don't finish raw edges when lining. The lining do the cover-up as both fabric are seen face to face or back to back or inside to inside. In other words wrong side of both faces each other
+Ariela Moreno-Valle Hi Ariela! Mimi will have new videos up soon. Don't forget to subscribe to our channel at th-cam.com/users/simplicityvideo so you won't miss her new videos. Thanks!
I thought this was going to be the COMPLETE sewing tutorial!? Where is the rest of it? The sewing of the lining? UGH. I'm disappointed that I don't have a finished blazer at the end of this video and the written directions are not helpful.

True. I just purchase her pattern I might have to return it. I wanted to watch her step by step I have no idea how to add the lining.
@@sandracampbell7278 ya its true
Alice. Check out other tutorials for adding lining to a jacket
Does anyone know the sewing machine she's using?
Sissy, I believe it's the Husqvarna Viking Sapphire 835

What kind of machine do you have
What kind and brand of machine are you using? Great job.. Thank you
+Angela Mills, it looks like a Husqvarna Viking SAPPHIRE.

Quick Question, You dont HAVE to do the yokes to the blazer do you?
There is no yoke on view A!
+SimplicityVideo Okay? In the instructions for view A. It doesnt say how to put the Yoke (Pattern Piece number 20) on the blazer. It goes from putting the pockets and then jumps into sewing the back and front pieces to the blazer.
+SimplicityVideo im sorry for view B doesnt have the yoke instructions
what type of fabric is that
It just looks like a high visibility colored polyester you can probably find in the suitings section of a fabric store.
You don't finish raw edges when lining. The lining do the cover-up as both fabric are seen face to face or back to back or inside to inside. In other words wrong side of both faces each other
Xk nunca muestra como queda!!!
Y nunca contesta los mensajes tampoco.
Hi Mimi do you add 5/8" when cutting the pattern pieces on the fabric or its already included?
dziedzormd its already included in the pattern. just use 5/8 when sewing your garment. hope this helps :)
When is your next video going up? Can you do a split sleeve blazer? i CANNOT find a pattern for this! Please help! :) Thnk you!!
+Ariela Moreno-Valle Hi Ariela! Mimi will have new videos up soon. Don't forget to subscribe to our channel at th-cam.com/users/simplicityvideo so you won't miss her new videos. Thanks!
Mimi G you never seem to answer any questions asked
I thought this was going to be the COMPLETE sewing tutorial!? Where is the rest of it? The sewing of the lining? UGH. I'm disappointed that I don't have a finished blazer at the end of this video and the written directions are not helpful.
That's why I don't purchase her patterns. Love her style but her patterns are unnecessarily complicated, and Way too many pieces.
This is not for a sewing novice, if you need help with linings or other details she has other video's for that.
@@blackcoffee2002 people who know how to sew don't need tutorials. Most beginners seek to learn from youtube or other sites. Just my opinion.
😒
I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN YOU
