    Thanks for the video. Really noticing in the comparison the lighting in the vpin would be much better for old fart eyes like mine 😎
    The other small but I think important is the sound feedback when you cradle the ball, the small ball bouncing on your flipper before the ball settles/stops is a nice touch.
    Shout out to all the legends that recreate these tables

    • @Major_Drain
      @Major_Drain  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The lighting is fully adjustable on most of the newer tables thankfully, plus there is even base adjustments in the VPX editor with the day/night slider. The sound of the feedback is great but you can also feel those ball movements from the transducers in the tips of your fingers, makes it that much more immersive.

    I would take either one. Since the pandemic I have had to sell about 10 of my machines to cover mortgage payments. You really can beat a pinball machine of your own. In the arcade, it is too loud and too busy and they are not always working right and it gets expensive to play it too many times.

      @Major_Drain  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a bummer to hear man, sucks parting ways with our machines but at least they are an appreciating asset in the current market. The home environment is definitely the best way to play pinball & learn a new machine.

    Awesome as always.... how the hell are you finding these Unopen Gems! Fantastic video as always Dodd! So how was the feeling of these two with respect to FFB? Also, you loaded this one onto the machine or was it included from AU?

    • @Major_Drain
      @Major_Drain  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Randall...... it’s either manifest destiny or a fool and his money are soon parted, I haven’t figured out which yet haha. I think the table author had the FFB dialed back a bit, you could still hear and feel it but wasn’t set to maximum, same with the shaker settings. The shaker on the real table is ridiculously strong even when turned down to the minimum. Yeah I loaded this one on the machine myself.

    Pros - Virtual pinball is affordable, mostly maintenance free, and can hold many pinball tables, and saves space in your home.
    Con- virtual pins lose value over time but real pinball machines are collectible.
    Virtual pinball machine can't earn money on location but real pinball machines are used in vending business and earn about $100 month. Real pinball is the best experience but virtual pinball is getting more real.

    • @mattm7798
      @mattm7798 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you can configure virtual pinball to accept real money securely. You are right that as tech improves, VPs will just keep getting better leading to a depreciating asset vs a mechanical version.
      Honestly, I think the cost is the main issue. Even at the top of the line, VPs will be about 8.5k. Mechanical pinball machines usually start around 2k but many are 7-8k+ with quite a few over 10k. They also require alot of maintenance and I believe are heavier.
      As an investment, no question which is better, but honestly, considering the HUGE price spike in the last 10 years, but sure how much more they have room to appreciate beyond inflation

      you can buy coin doors that take coins for credits, or press the coin return to enter credit. so yes you can make $$ on a virtual table, there is an arcade about 45 min away from me with a pinball room and they have 2 virtual tables that take credits to play

    You do know you can stack multiballs, right?

    • @Major_Drain
      @Major_Drain  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I tend to get a better score when I don’t stack mutliball modes, opens more Jackpots lanes but once you drain it’s harder to start over. By cashing them in individually I just get more opportunities to score longer and increases my chances taking out more castles.

      @@Major_Drain The closest 1-1 comparison of vpin to real I have found so far is Funhouse by Wrd1972. VPW's Machine Bride of Pinbot is fairly close as well.
      I was disappointed in my performance of playing on a real Monster Bash after I played VPW's version so often. Visually it looks great. It plays great, but it feels different. I can hit the scoop on VPW at will. On a real machine, I couldn't hit it to save my life. Although to be fair, two real tables of the same game can play very differently, through wear and tear, or mods.
      I have played about 16 or so real tables and compared to their VPX versions. I played worse on real tables, every time. Visually Vpin is getting closer, but the lighting still needs to improve a bit and the ball feels weightless still, even if the physics are close. Not sure how to remedy that.
