Emmett! How many times do I have to say it! Everyone needs to read Amazon High!! I remember buying it and reading the whole thing in like 2 days cause I was so engrossed and it even made me cry. My mom bought a copy and read it before she passed away too and she LOVED it ❤
The fact that the books are available to buy but you've left them all up online for free makes me want to buy multiple copies of each one. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing an extension of this video where you talk about authors who have influenced you, what your favourite books are, and whatnot.
As someone who enjoys your content music games and owning and reading your book “the Little Finch” i highly recommend checking out all of his well rounded content 👌🏻
Takes a lot of guts to share first projects. It’s like sending your baby out to be judged and told how ugly it is but as you’ve seen, sometimes it pays off and the baby is beautiful
Tried out chapter 1 of Amazon High, it was nice! I haven't read a traditional novel in years, the stories I like are your anime-esque slice of lifes, with nothing huge at stake and some wholesome romance. Can tell this one is heavier and much more gritty and "real." "Drags and lines" lol, my introverted self that has never partied before can't imagine being in a situation like that when I was in high school. I've come to trust your creativity through your Oblivion playthrough and your music, so I look forward to reading chapter 2 soon.
I love this. I love the title too. I myself have struggled with "not wanting to be the guy that tells you to check out his stuff", and every few weeks I'll try to think of a way to make a video like this one, when I release my next novel. I'm always trying to think of a way to wrap it into a topic discussion or something, and then briefly mention an aspect of my book that pertains to the topic, and move on. It's inspiring to see this, and I think a few years from now when I'm done (hopefully) and the next one is out, I'll make a video just like this, and it'll be right to the point just like you are here: "you should read my book(s)". I really like it. Also, from what you mentioned in the first minute or so, I totally feel that. It's like, even these days, people who know me from something outside of writing or music will find out, and then listen to/read something I've done. Then they're so surprised it isn't trash? Why is that the default expectation? I don't understand lol Edit: I also completely feel the "becoming the character" stuff. It's pretty interesting how our character's behaviors influence our own as we "spend time with them" during the writing process. 100% feel that.
Thanks Emmett! It was a pleasant surprise to hear you'd published not one, but three books! I'd be very interested to hear more about your creative processes, and how you secured publishers, etc. Love your content as always keep it up man!!
Hey Emmett! I was a big fan of you and Max around when the Oblivion playthrough first started, but haven't been watching as much recently. I remember back when you first announced Amazon High and released it with an original soundtrack and I thought that was super cool, but I unfortunately never got around to reading it. I can empathize with what you were saying about the difficulties of promoting yourself as a small creator, but since I forgot to check out your books, this was a perfect reminder. I didn't know you've been writing other stuff too, so I'll have to check it all out. I'll try to buy the novels when I can, but I'm glad you also mentioned they can be read on WattPad, I didn't know they were freely available on there too. As someone who wants to create more personal projects like books and games and music, your talent is inspiring to me. Thank you for posting this reminder.
Finally got the chance to actually watch the full video. About two months later, and I can still say I loved Amazon High. My review + message to you are still 100% accurate. I'm glad I could remind you of your creative projects. I keep enjoying what you put out. (I was surprised to hear that my message sparked the chain of events that led to Wes buying your book. Damn. How'd he enjoy it?)

I missed the iconic garden talk videos...
