Pope Pius XII and the Sacred Congregation of Rites did NOT change the liturgy itself, they only changed the timing which did not invalidate the liturgy. This is stipulated in the decree at the beginning of the Holy Week Manual for Priests which binds anyone and everyone to follow this manual under the fear of anathema. The Holy Week Manual for Priests is by far an interesting read, the book gives instruction on what is to be done and how to follow the liturgy.
