So I made an oopsie posting cringe. France Surrendered on June 22, 1940 after Paris fell June 14. I do my best to be as accurate as possible, especially with such a simple thing, but we all make mistakes. Please berate me in the replies as mercilessly as possible. I don't think that changes anything to do with my general point though, France is a smaller country with good infrastructure and a perfect target for a fast German campaign of movement as unless the Germans are stopped and bogged down, the French can only retreat and consolidate their lines so much before they've lost too much of their country to continue supporting organized resistance and will be forced to agree to terms. The USSR however is a vast country, with very poor roads and infrastructure that makes a German style fast campaign much more difficult right out of the gate as unless the Red Army evaporates away within a very short time, the Germans will very quickly face attrition to vehicles, supply shortages, over extension, and just plain inability to put enough of the country under their heel to force their demands before their striking power is diminished and the whole thing bogs down. As fate would have it, the Red Army didn't simply melt after Minsk fell and once the campaign continued past the planned end date in September, the previously mentioned potential problems began to rear their heads leading to the big oofs we all know today. Sorry for the big book, I just wanted to jump in and correct myself, please resume your regularly scheduled viewing. -Jonny
P.S. If you feel there is another "win" possibility, check out part two to this video to see if I have covered it before you post your own cringe. Stay safe out there my dudes.

Sometimes i wonder if the western world took the Marxist radical threat more seriously around the time of the great depression when Marxist propaganda was being spread more rampantly, and as a consequence North America and Europe made it a deal with Germany that if they took down Stalin they wouldn't interfere, and perhaps even offer economic assistance to Germany, could the coldwar be averted?
And if all the deaths under communism during the coldwar could be averted because of a German victory over communism, would there have been less death and war if the coldwar could have been avoided by also avoiding WW2 with Germany by allowing them to take the Sudatenland and to conquer what they believed was "cultural Bolshevism", but in reality was just authoritarian Marxism? Do you think this alternate history could've resulted in less deaths and world conflict by just allowing Germany to expand east? Or would of this resulted in more death than the 100+ million under communism?

    • @lordmango545

With the "Wunderwaffe" argument one comparison comes to mind:
    German "Wunderwaffen":
A jet that had to have its engines completely replaced after 6 hours, a tank that couldn't get off the road or cross a bridge, and a gun that would jam as soon as it left the factory
    American wonder weapons:

@@tjenadonn6158hear hear. People love to bang on about German tanks and the StG-44 and other high-tech German weapons, but they weren’t able to produce them in meaningful numbers. Meanwhile, America was able to issue every infantryman a semi-auto rifle, build _six million carbines_ for everyone else, and literally build ships faster than the Axis could sink them. It’s less of “10 lions versus 100 rats” and more of “3 lions versus 5,000 rats”.

Also you need complete air superiority to actually launch the bomb safely (and for the cost of building it you better not botch the launch) something Germany never achieved except in early 1941 on the eastern front. Finally since it the most industrialised, technologically advanced and prosperous nation of the time until 1945 to have the bomb i really don't see how germany could have gotten it before being rekt by standard weapons

How many people lived in Siberia in 1939?
      30M (including the Urals)
How many people lived in Central Asia in 1940?
      17M
This however does not account for population growth in Siberia from 1939 to 1941. Nor does it account for population growth in Central Asia from 1940 to 1941.
How many people were evacuated east in 1941 and 1942?
      16.5M
Population of the Soviet Union including people who were evacuated: 63.5M
Population of the Soviet Union not including people who were evacuated: 47M
Accounting for population growth, you could possibly get a population of 50 to 70M depending on whether or not you want to include the amount of people who were evacuated. (more people than France, roughly same population as Germany including the amount of people who were evacuated)
How many forces did the Soviets have in the Far East?
The Soviet Union had 1,200,000 soldiers in the Far East by December of 1941 and this number actually increased during the war due to mobilization.
The Soviet Union had 7,500 tanks in the Far East during the Second World War. Compare this to the 11,000 tanks they had at the start of Operation Barbarossa,
The Soviet Union only ever sent 300,000 of these soldiers and 2500 of these tanks to the Eastern Front.
Not including tanks which were produced during the war or the soldiers who were mobilized in the Far East after December of 1941, they would have 900,000 soldiers and 5,000 tanks.
This of course does not include the soldiers they had in Central Asia or the rest of Siberia.
What did the Far East produce?
      1800 Tanks per Year
      4800 Aircraft per Year
      6600 Artillery per Year
      360 Armoured Cars per Year
The Far East was the least developed region in the Soviet Union so this is only a small fraction of the amount they were capable of producing.
This however does not include production in the rest of Siberia, especially the Urals where most of the production took place.
A substantial amount of industry was evacuated to the Urals.

How was history actually written? The Wehrmacht officers made a number of demands for West German rearmament to begin. The demands were laid out in the Himmerod memorandum and included: all German soldiers convicted as war criminals would be released, the "defamation" of the German soldier, including those of the Waffen-SS, would have to cease, and "measures to transform both domestic and foreign public opinion" of the German military would need to be taken. Former German officers published memoirs and historical studies that contributed to the Myth of the Clean Wehrmacht. The chief architect of this body of work was Franz Halder. He worked for the Operational History (German) Section of the U.S. Army Historical Division and had exclusive access to the captured German war archives stored in the U.S. He supervised the work of other former German officers and wielded a great deal of influence. So in reality, the losers written history while the truth was denounced as "Communist Propaganda".

As a German here, we do not learn much about the actual battles or strategies of the war in school. At least I do not remember even though I was pretty good in history. What we talk about is the ideology and the motivation, the way the nazis have viewed and extreme right wing forces still view the world. The underlaying reason of all the great arguments you brought up is in my opinion the complete blind trust in hitler and the white German race as superior that has to win the war and the consequential overestimation of the own resources, men and power. And even if they would have “won” against the other world powers. They would never be in a position to keep that power over the occupied areas. Remind yourself, they did not declare war to one or two parties. They believed that a peaceful coexistence of different “races” of the planet cannot be possible and that there only be one. It was the “total war” they declared. It was has and always will be destined to fail. No matter the “if”.

It says more that even with all that, the post-victory timeline up to and including the entire playable duration of the mod is just germany taking a neverending series of L after L.

    • @SCIFIguy64

WWII was always inevitable. Even if Lindbergh was elected or if the veteran coup succeeded, the US would have wound up fighting at least Japan no matter what. Germany would have to cut Japanese ties to avoid war with the US, which would result in a U.S. victory anyway you slice it. Best case scenario for a Nazi victory: neutrality with England, US; sack Moscow and Balkanize the USSR; isolate from Japan and let the US sort them out; US enters Cold War with Nazi germany on par with the USSR because fascism opposes democracy and capitalism. The best absolute outcome for a German victory would result in war by the 50’s with the US. And this timeline likely won’t have nukes as there was no war necessitating it’s development, and really it would play similar to WWII since no one needed to advance their equipment or tactics in the 40’s.

Here is something else to consider: even IF, which is a big "if", the Axis won, that victory would immediately collapse on itself.
    1. Overextension of military forces to new territories. The Germans and Italians would face the same issues as the Roman Empire did when they too tried expanding as far as they did. That trouble being, it is HARD to put down rebellions on all sides of the border, even with modern transportation like the train.
    2. The economic Golden Age will run out very fast. Even after beating France, the USSR and the UK, and outdoing the sanctions put on Germany, so much money would go into restoring literally everything they bombed. That has complications moving forward, as the veterans and civilians would miss out on good social services, souring the NSDAP's approval rating.
    3. The irredentist goals of many minor Axis powers overlapped each other. Many of them were pissed off with losing land for "compromise" with other Axis powers. Romania is a good example, since they hate Hungary with a passion. Almost immediately they would "cannibalize" each other's territories.
    4. Genocide is expensive and takes a long time. Germany simply cannot erase the Slavs, French, Jews and Gypsies quick enough before they start rebelling against them.
TL;DR: Germany would still lose, even AFTER defeating the Allies.

    • @nimdaqa
      @nimdaqa ปีที่แล้ว +5

The Soviet Union would still be strong even if the Germans achieved their objectives (reaching the A-A Line).
How many Soviet people lived east of the A-A Line during the Second World War?
      Siberia (including the Urals): 30,489,000
      Volga: 12,120,000
      Central Asia: 16,624,000
Evacuated to the East during the war: 17,000,000-25,000,000
      Total Population: 76,233,000-84,233,000
The Soviet Union would actually be reliant on Lend-Lease to continue the war effort unlike in OTL where it was able to rely on domestic production. This is because the Soviet Union would lose a substantial amount of resources and manpower which were located West of the A-A Line.
The Soviet Union had 1,343,307 soldiers in the Far East by December of 1941 but only transferred 344,676 soldiers from the Far East to the Eastern Front from 1941 to 1945. The number of forces in the Far East would continue to increase despite the transfers due to mobilization reaching 65 division-equivalents by mid-1942.
What other forces did the Soviet Union have at the start of the war? 100,945 soldiers in Central Asia, 101,563 soldiers in the Urals, and 118,711 soldiers in Siberia. I don't have any sources on how many soldiers the Soviet Union mobilized in these regions like I do for the Far East so this would have to do.
Assuming Operation Barbarossa ended in a success (which was impossible), they would have reached the A-A Line in three months which means the Soviet Union might not even have enough time to transfer any soldiers from the Far East to the Eastern Front (although in OTL, they only ever transferred a relatively small amount of the forces they had in those regions).
This means they would still have:
1,343,307 in the Far East (December of 1941)
100,945 in Central Asia (June of 1941)
101,563 in the Urals (June of 1941)
118,711 in Siberia (June of 1941)
Total Amount of Forces: 1,664,526 soldiers
This obviously does not include forces in Central Asia, the Urals, or in Siberia who were mobilized during the war nor does it include forces which would have retreated East in this scenario.
The Soviet Union also moved their government from Moscow to Kuibyshev in OTL which acted as the capital of the Soviet Union for a period of time during the war. Kuibyshev is East of the A-A Line which means the Soviet Union would still have its entire government intact.
In view of the unsuccessful line of defense in the Mozhaisk Raion, the State Defense Committee resolves to:
      1. Have Comrade Molotov announce to foreign missions that they should evacuate to the city of Kuibyshev today (Comrade Kaganovich of the People’s Commissariat of Transportation should provide trains for the missions in a timely manner, and Comrade Beria of the People’s Commissar of Interior Affairs [NKVD] should organize their security).
      2. Evacuate the Presidium of the Supreme Council along with the government and Vice-Chairman Comrade Molotov (Comrade Stalin is evacuating tomorrow or after, depending on the situation).
      3. Immediately evacuate the organs of the People’s Commissariat of Defense and the People’s Commissariat of the Navy to Kuibyshev, and the main group of the General Staff to Arzamas.
      4. In the event that enemy forces appear at the gates of Moscow, entrust Comrade Beria and Comrade Shcherbakov of the NKVD to carry out the demolition of enterprises, warehouses and institutions that are impossible to evacuate, and also the demolition of the electrical equipment of the metro (excluding the water supply system and the sewage system).
Chairman of the State Defense Committee I. Stalin
Nazi Germany would also have to keep a substantial amount of soldiers in newly occupied territory due to partisans who would likely recieve support from the Soviet Union and the United States.

Invading Russia was one of Hitler's main goals of the war, so not invading Russia could mean no war at all. Maybe they would still take Poland and Czechoslovakia and just stop there. Germany doesn't have much of its own natural resources to mass produce things for war (they learned this the hard way in WWI), especially oil for fuel, so Hitler knew he needed to obtain more. The Caucasus region had massive oil fields and was controlled by Russia. Hitler's invasion of France was to try to eliminate potential opponents before invading Russia to make the war easier. "Hindsight can always provide simplistic answers to complicated problems." He was specifically speaking of how some blamed the Allies for only accepting unconditional surrender and claiming that had they provided assurance of peace terms that the war may have ended sooner. From that line and some other things he said though, I can tell that my grandpa never put much stock into it, believing instead that there never is just one pivotal point that can explain everything that happened.

If the allies were winning Sicily and Calabria, then Italy thinning out operations to North Africa and South Italy could have left them vulnerable and be an irrational move. He distanced himself from quite a few of the things he wrote in that book later on. If the Germans had launched Operation Sea Lion, the best thing for the Brits to do would be to wait for the invasion force to come ashore THEN send the Royal Naval and Air Force in to wipe out the invasion fleet (essentially the entire Kriegsmarine) thus stranding the German troops in hostile territory. The Luftwaffe wouldn't have been able to decisively defend their fleet against the Royal Navy with a determined RAF (still guided by radar stations) in the way. And with the Royal Navy in de facto control of the channel the Germans would not have been able to launch their own 'Dunkirk Rescue'.

Hey man idk about you but id rather have 12 minutes of quality then some words, and why would he? The main reason Germany lost was because of the soviet union no doubt and in this situation the US is irrelevant as their actions came later in the war and even then would not have been so successful without the eastern front pulling away troops from the west, so how exactly is not mentioning the western allies biased? Hes not praising anyone nor taking aside and its simple fact that Germany could not fight a war of attrition..... But hey watch the video as im just trying to explain it to someone who seems not to understand :)

Sure the allies did, but did it even matter with the massive industrial complexes east of urals, the allies gave the soviets second hand equipment and wasn't used as much compared to domesticated equipment
Food is something that lend lease did do well too which the soviets did need, but even without more soviets would've died at the end

    • @estoor4258
      @estoor4258 6 ปีที่แล้ว

There were actually some stuff that was used, like trucks to carry artillery, because russia had a shit ton of artillery. Boots were also lend leased with other stuff but I don't think they needed boots. I also think that if it was a 1 on 1 with germany against the soviets, for example if britain didn't get in the war along with the US, Germany had the possibility to win, or drag the war for years. If it was only against britain, they also could have won or dragged the war for years. With the US because its so far away it would be almost impossible to attack, most of the transports would probably not reach the US and supply lines would have been very easy to attack, not to mention the 2nd amenment which meant an invading force would be fighting partisans as well. But if I think about it, then germany couldnt win against the soviets, just because the size of the soviet union and because stalin wanted to continue the war, until everyone was dead in russia.
