ARMORED TRANSFORMER: How Ukrainians Adapted the American MaxxPro for a New War

The MaxxPro is one of the best armored personnel carriers in the world. It boasts exceptional protection against mines and small arms fire. This wheeled powerhouse is part of the arsenal of Ukraine’s 23rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. In one mission alone, a MaxxPro withstood 12 hits from FPV drones, not only preserving the lives of its crew but also remaining operational.
Originally designed for the Iraq War, the MaxxPro has certain characteristics that Ukrainian troops have had to adapt to. For example, its height and weight make it less maneuverable on Ukraine’s fertile black soil. However, the Defense Forces have adjusted their handling techniques and enhanced the vehicle with additional protection against drones.
