I have had a few shaves of the Maca Root now and sadly no such luck with the ladies. Maybe they should change the scent from wild flowers to sandalwood, bayrum, musk...etc. They should build those scent around their colognes for men. But back to shaving as a straight razor shaver I found the protection was great and my boar brush would build when hell of a bowl lather. Another great video.
Thank you Giorgio Corrado. I've got to say that I really do wish they would introduce at least two other scents. There's not much wrong with the cream as such, it's just the scent. Shaving should be about engaging all the senses. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Very good review. I actually picked this up 2 days ago and tried it for the first time, I have to say the performance blew me away when I gave it a god run with my Muhle R41. Like you said the scent is nothing special but it does well. I also picked up maca root face moisturiser, that too is a great product and the scent is better than the cream, worth a try. Maybe nice to know that you can go to a nearby "the Body Shop" shop and ask for a small tester. I have done it as I didn't want to by the big tub at once before testing it out on my skin. It really really performs well, also great after shave feel. But the scent... Not my taste either. Anyone know if you can add fragrance to the cream?
I have a pretty good Edwin Jagger Synthetic (polyester fibre I think) - holds the water brilliantly and looks to hold it's shape nicely as well. It's size is just right, not too small and not too clumsy
hahaha great review Con, I came here looking for this to see what you thought of the aftershave balm. surprisingly it was not mentioned. perhaps it was not yet available at the time... my review on it: it smells nothing like the cream, its absolutely hideous. does a great job at moisturizing and healing the skin after a shave but the scent is just terrible.

Will chime in about the ingredients: if you're talking about lather performance, it's mostly down to the combination of acids/oils that are used. When they're saponified with the lye (NaOH / KOH) they impart different properties to the finished product. For a shaving cream or soap, you want one that balances fluffy and stable lather, and oils that are nice and conditioning for the skin. Been using Maca Root for months. It is brilliant, never had a nick or cut using it.
I love it as well David and the slickness and protection with this cream is very good.

I know they have two great scents in colognes one has sandalwood and ceder type scent and the other is Musk.

I love macaroot shave cream.i use with my headblade moto, or Gillette fusion prosheild flexball for headshave.protection and very slick! Nice video
