China upgrades Hungary ties to ‘all-weather’ partnership

China and Hungary announced an upgrade in their bilateral relationship to an “all-weather” comprehensive strategic partnership on May 9, 2024. It came during Xi Jinping’s first state visit to the central European country, having met Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during the Chinese president’s final stop on a closely watched trip to Europe. The new designation brings diplomatic ties with Budapest to the same rank of nations as those Beijing trusts most, including Belarus, Pakistan and Venezuela.

Deindustrializing is what happens in prosperous countries -- economies naturally develop from agricultural and resource extraction, to manufacturing, to services. Their economies are moving up in the value chain.

A great partnership between China and Hungary that will stand against “all weathers” on the world stage, even when a strong wind comes from the USA as she is losing her hegemony in Europe. China is now bringing her new friendship with Hungary, Serbia and France into a higher level with economic and technological development that will strengthen these three European countries, defying the American dominance and shifts the balance of power.
