This is the closest interpretation of the book in theatre!!! I just love the scene Marius's acting stupidly at the first time he talks to Cosette! How romantic it is!
This particular production isn't appreciated enough. The Cosette and Marius both have strong voices, the Eponine doesn't sound shrilly, and that's Hugh Freaking Panaro as Valjean. The staging choices were also fresh. I wish this cast were on Broadway.
Awww, Marius and Cosette are absolutely adorable. LOVED all of Marius' nervous energy and the letter, ROFL! I wish we had gotten to see more of Cosette, haha, but you can't have it all.
I loved how the Cosette sounded almost like mezzo but could reach all soprano notes like she was kinda belting but not rly , I feel like Cosette should be played like that more cause almost every other Cosette sounds like a bird tbh
I agree! I love Les Miserables -- it's both one of my favorite books, and one of my favorite musicals -- and this is my favorite performance of it, of the ones I've seen. It just added so many nice little touches, so much life. It seemed more fully realized than the traditional staging, and most of the actors were a LOT better than their counterparts in the Broadway cast who I saw close to the same time!
P.S. If anyone from the show has a different video of this, I ditto the wish to see more of the blocking. I loved how Marius and Cosette did the sort of West Side Story thing, with putting their palms together as they vowed their love. Also, how Marius scaled the trellis to the balcony. Very Romeo&Juliet, Tony&Maria, true-love-y. P.P.S. I loved that he had the letter - I actually squealed with glee when he took it out. So glad they didn't film that night, or you might hear me yelp!
I've never been a fan of A Heart Full of Love, but.... this version is so stinkin' adorable! I love the letter, it adds an element to the number that changes it from corny to cute. Not to mention they're all great singers.
This is a great production. The new tour has tried some different staging and approaches, but this production was a total breath of fresh air into the show. I know I'm asking for too much, but I would LOVE to see Christina's A Little Fall of Rain.
I don't really like Cosette. I really don't like how harsh her r's are, for one thing. And... I don't know. I really prefer brighter, lighter Cosettes like Katie Hall and Gina Beck. But voice types aside, there's just something I don't like about her. :p Marius, though, is wonderful! He does the r thing too sometimes but he's just so cute... I've never seen the blocking with the letter before and it is just adorable!

I almost had a heart attack when he started "a heart full of love." SO ADORABLE and so accurate to the book!
