That is one sick paint job! Thank you for sharing, and for explaining the paint layering process too. I need to get some of that paint and figure out how to make some of my cars sparkle! Also, cute blooper at the end ha ha.
Flared hair, flared pants, flared fenders. it was the '70's man. Jimi remembers. hahaha sick paint and awesome vid as always. thank you! keep em coming.
This video is still one of my absolute favorites. The blooper reel at the end with the wire wheel and the shop towel cracks me up every single time I watch this. I can't use a blue shop towel or a rotary tool without thinking of this video. LOL
I agree those fender flares are ridiculous lol but hell man you made it work . Paint was dope and like glass . Another awesome outcome . Well done Sir 👍👍😊
You ought to get yourself a jar of stripper like Timerider. Over time, it starts to resemble one of the levels of hell, and it's rather pleasing to watch the car parts sinking into the foul goop. A bit like in 'Psycho', when Norman Bates pushes the car carrying the remains of Marion Crane into the swamp. Your finished Firebird is awesome. The colour and finish are just outrageously good, and it looks great sitting on those big ole' meats. Nice one.
"Where's my car?" -- I just about fell off the couch. Great episode, and I like the color. I thought you'd get a more saturated red, but it almost appeared to have a kind of pleasing burgundy color. Very pleasing with all that sparkle and depth. Great stuff as always. Love your channel.
You ARE the Master of the Airbrush! I liked the wheels, in my day we raised the suspension hence lowering the wheels. Nowadays it seems making the wheels tuck up as far as they can go in the wheel-well making the car as low as it can go is the norm. I guess the rear wheel drive had a lot to do with it. I didn't like the flairs either. See ya Tom USA
That color is awesome! I had to write down the color he used because I might put it on my car. Especially the black undercoat with the silver and gold.
My suggestion would have been to 'halve' the front wheel wells...just size them down and add the appropriate size tires. Thanks for another entertaining video...and that paint combo is one best I've seen!
Dude that paint job came out totally badass!!! When you described what you were going for I knew it was going to be awesome and it came out even better than I imagined. Great job!
I love the casting and the way you gave it some paint love. It needs 70s racing wheels tho. Lots of meat (like the original wheels on this casting) and Firestone lettering. The color tint of the window icw the interior really complement your custom paintjob. Thanks for the video. Greetz, Wolf
Wow. If only matchbox had the enthusiasm you have ! What cars British children might have had . Still got one of these somewhere in the same condition as the project car ! had a good laugh at the end with that paper towel ! Thanks for posting !
This is my all time favourite matchbox car. I had one as a kid, and still have my original one now... although I have picked up a few others since then.
Paint is brilliant! You are a master! In my humble opinion, I think you could have done something with the fender flares. Whether it be thinning them down or folding half wells. Your imagination is epic and a job well done!
Awesome result, can't wait for you to use the gold plating paint again! I've still got one of these somewhere from when I was a kid, the flares on it looked weird to me even 35+ years ago lol.
I totally loved that build, took that casting and really made it worthy Buddy.from the paint to the wheels, honestly the wheel wells were cool. that how they did some of them back then!!!!
Love to hear you're doing another double cab truck your first video inspired me to do one of my own using two Ford M2 trucks, glad you're doing one with opening doors
Get some of the travel bottles designed for air travel and transfer your polish into them. That should help with the amounts applied to your projects since you should have more control of the application.
Wow, you were right, the color is great with the yellow windows, and yep, those wheel wells are redonkulous. Maybe you can speed up the video of the new chemical's stripping process to still give us our fix. "Double, double - takes too long to bubble."
I don't know why i found the blooper at the end so damn funny but i did and nearly chocked on yoghurt whilst laughing haha this is why i love this channel :D
I believe we all mostly seen the paint bubbling so if you do the soak and cut away it's okay... - Your health is more important than watching paint come off....
Hell yeah man, that is one sweet paint job, and those wheel really complete the look. Love that stance, looks like a completely different car. Saaweeeet!!!!
Car turned out great! The wheels you chose for the car really made it pop. You turned a ugly casting into a show car. Great job! Thanks for sharing as always!
I wouldn't worry about the 'wheel wells'. Those are actually ok. It's the stubby hood. Matchbox dropped the ball on that, the damn thing looks more like a Porsche from the front! lol
That thang has J'Lo fenders! The paint is Sick! (Not sure I've ever used that term before...) Laughing so hard at that blooper at the end. Can't breathe! 🤣
This was a fave of mine as a kid, it rolled so well and was extremely tough! Have you ever restored one of those Tonka muscle cars that you revved up and pressed a button to make it go?
Used to have one like this and played with it to death. Later they released a gold one based on this casting with spoilers and a Firebird sticker on the hood. When I spotted it in the toy shop, I hid it at the back of the rack so no one would buy it till I earned a few bucks the next week so I could buy it. This kind of muscle car shape imprint is impossible to shed even 40 years later.
Considering what you had to work with, that actually turned out really nice. I always thought this casting looked stupid, even as a kid. You made it work though, nice job!
The Michael Vortex ... I’ve had a love/hate relationship with this casting since I was a kid. The stupid holes in the hood was always the big let down for me.
Hi, I've been watching your videos & you do amazing stuff. I joined reddit to send you a photo of a car I have (Classic T-Bird) that needs some love. But I can't figure out how to use it to send the image. I would love to see you do it. It has no paint or widown. I'd love to see it done in a dark blue candy with some sort of pattern in gold on it with a white vinyl top. Kind of a 70s pimpmobile. I'm a Vet and disabled so you videos have entertained me to no end. keep up the Great Work.
Blooper at the end is worth waiting for!
nope, it's a blooper, it's a blub-blubber
OMG that was hilarious
Exactly what I was thinking
I was scanning the next video when suddenly, bluuuuuub, wth?
Yes, that was awesome....LOL
There are lots of diecast channels, but only this one has the blub blubs 🤣🤣🤣
lul
And Jimmy
Love the blubs.
Nicolas T lol (Dutch).
Yo thanks for the shout-out brother 😎 And this turned out 🔥🔥🔥
Shabby to shiny meets shabby to sparkly
Rob I think I remember you doing this casting
@@damianmcadams4253 I think so too but I must have given it away
Gotta love the out takes! Work bench mishaps!!!!
Dang the paint job is so amazing! I have this exact matchbox....never was diggin the blue..
That is one sick paint job! Thank you for sharing, and for explaining the paint layering process too. I need to get some of that paint and figure out how to make some of my cars sparkle!
Also, cute blooper at the end ha ha.

As always your the first choice on TH-cam when it comes to restorations and commentary
Jimmy's out of control flippin picnic tables
You have a knack for bringing those colors together. Nicely done “Vincent!”
Awesome job. I've been painting vehicles for 30 years and I just learned some new stuff. 👍 that firebird was always one of my favorites as a kid.
Cool paint job man!
I'm feelin' it.
I really like these old matchbox castings.
I agree those fender flares are ridiculous lol but hell man you made it work . Paint was dope and like glass . Another awesome outcome . Well done Sir 👍👍😊
The flares are proper for the early '70s Trans Am racing series.
Looks awesome great job well done Cheers KC Tasmania Australia
Great paint job 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Can wait for the quad cab build ‼️
kool vid ... wonder if you could make some kinda back window louver for a car like that now that would be kool .. thanks .. †

Lol the end is great. Blubs for Jimmy
Beautiful paint job......great looking wheels 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Perfect choice on the wheels and paint color. One of my favorites, outside of the Nitty Gritty Kittys.
The wheels definitely compliment the paint it all just goes together so perfect
Sparkly goodness on a bad boy build. Fender flares cover the wide tires very nicely. All looks good!
Love the colour and the rims .they go really well together. From plain blue to badass red.
That color is awesome! I had to write down the color he used because I might put it on my car. Especially the black undercoat with the silver and gold.
That paint job is over the top!!! You are a magician... okay, an artist. Great job again.
My suggestion would have been to 'halve' the front wheel wells...just size them down and add the appropriate size tires.
Thanks for another entertaining video...and that paint combo is one best I've seen!
Nice color. Always enjoy the stripping and repainting. Very nice job!!
Beautiful color, love your videos. Keep up the good work.
Dude that paint job came out totally badass!!! When you described what you were going for I knew it was going to be awesome and it came out even better than I imagined. Great job!

Cool casting , awesome work . Paint is awesome . Mike Espo...
Wow. If only matchbox had the enthusiasm you have ! What cars British children might have had . Still got one of these somewhere in the same condition as the project car ! had a good laugh at the end with that paper towel ! Thanks for posting !
I liked the big wheels, looks like one of those street racers. Great job!
This is my all time favourite matchbox car. I had one as a kid, and still have my original one now... although I have picked up a few others since then.
Your paint combinations are frickin' amazing! BTW, what happened to your cappucino frother thingy?
That paint & interior combo looks great.
Paint is brilliant! You are a master! In my humble opinion, I think you could have done something with the fender flares. Whether it be thinning them down or folding half wells. Your imagination is epic and a job well done!
Ooh.. gold chrome looked awesome. Definitely a must do future paint job! 🏆
Very nice customizing! The looks beautiful.
Awesome result, can't wait for you to use the gold plating paint again! I've still got one of these somewhere from when I was a kid, the flares on it looked weird to me even 35+ years ago lol.
Love the Dremel mishap. Thanks for including it. 😂
I totally loved that build, took that casting and really made it worthy Buddy.from the paint to the wheels, honestly the wheel wells were cool. that how they did some of them back then!!!!
Looks like jimmy had a wild weekend judging by the upside down picnic table
I oove that you showed the "blooper" at the end of this one. Reminds everyone that everybody makes mistakes!
That turned out awesome! Great colour! Love the deep sparkle! That would be an awesome colour for a guitar!
Really nice job buddy looks great love that color thanks for sharing buddy 👍👍
Now that is mind blowing paint. Excellent
Love to hear you're doing another double cab truck your first video inspired me to do one of my own using two Ford M2 trucks, glad you're doing one with opening doors
Fabulous paint! The final product is truly lovely, regardless of the casting itself. You are the “perfesser of paint!”. Keep up the great work!
That super glue trick was really cool i never saw that before
Should've added a spoiler on the rear. Nice work and thanks for sharing!
the blooper at the end made me laugh so hard, the car was like "see ya later"
I'm a big fan of the Flitz paste. A little goes a long way.
Beautiful colors, that came out super nice.
Get some of the travel bottles designed for air travel and transfer your polish into them. That should help with the amounts applied to your projects since you should have more control of the application.
LOVE the paint job
I love these channels, Marty, Rob, Austin, Jimmy, all great artists.
Loved the out take at the end. Great job as always.
The Firebird of that generation is a sexy car to this day. I still love those.
The car looks like a cross of the Olds Tornado and the Pontiac Firebird with wheel flares!
First time I’ve liked this casting. Great work.
Looks awesome! The flares remind me of something you'd see on a late-model sportsman. Dirt tracker.
You've got awesome paint skills brother!
Paint looks great and well done with the windows
Awesome job! I had the exact same car as a kid. Bet it looks great in the sunshine
Your paint jobs are epic! I’m not a fan of the yellow/orange windshields but your work is top notch! Thanks again for sharing!
Wow, you were right, the color is great with the yellow windows, and yep, those wheel wells are redonkulous. Maybe you can speed up the video of the new chemical's stripping process to still give us our fix. "Double, double - takes too long to bubble."
Turned out amazing as always. Think you should have done the inventory in black.
Looks amazing man. Thanks for sharing.
I don't know why i found the blooper at the end so damn funny but i did and nearly chocked on yoghurt whilst laughing haha this is why i love this channel :D
Damn, that paint is masterful.
Some of your in between colors are amazing.
I believe we all mostly seen the paint bubbling so if you do the soak and cut away it's okay... - Your health is more important than watching paint come off....
Very true. Your health is more important.
I’ve wound my t shirt up in my dremel lol
The fender flares were used in the TransAm racing series on the Firebird driven by Jerry Titus.
Matchbox dropped the ball on that, the damn thing looks more like a Porsche from the front! lol
That looks really cool!! You make it look so easy. Thanks for posting these videos.
That looks awesome Ace , you underestimate your talent , this is one Bad as Firebird !
That’s so good I thought you’d bought a new car but yours is better than new.
That thang has J'Lo fenders!
The paint is Sick! (Not sure I've ever used that term before...)
Laughing so hard at that blooper at the end. Can't breathe! 🤣
So cool. Amazing what you do with paint
This was a fave of mine as a kid, it rolled so well and was extremely tough! Have you ever restored one of those Tonka muscle cars that you revved up and pressed a button to make it go?

that windshield turned out really good considering what it looked like originally
Jimmy would look so good in that shweet ride 👍
For that super glue trick you might try getting some water thin viscosity super glue. Might penetrate better. Love the work as always.
Considering what you had to work with, that actually turned out really nice. I always thought this casting looked stupid, even as a kid. You made it work though, nice job!
16:34 "Just gonna polish my - OH SHIT!"
I never liked that casting, but you made it a thing of beauty DR. Nice work! #YouCanNeverHaveTooManyBlubs 👍🏼🤘🏼😎
The Michael Vortex ... I’ve had a love/hate relationship with this casting since I was a kid. The stupid holes in the hood was always the big let down for me.
Esse aí me remeteu a infância. Eu tinha um idêntico azul. Ficou bonito o resultado final. Valeu!
duuude this one is heavyy!!! that cherry candy red it's fierce!!
Any chance you might build a MK7 GTI?
Magnificent paint job, it looks awesome👍
