Iran is in a difficult economic situation and lacks the popular support and military strength to oppose such a conflict.
Fathollah-Nejad considers speculation about a possible overthrow of the Iranian regime by Israel or the US to be unlikely. Such a "regime change" would cause chaos in Iran and is hardly realistic. However, the Iranian leadership's fear that an external war and an internal uprising could collapse remains a serious scenario.
