To solve this, I watched each dive at 0.25 speed... but you're right... it was awful.

Mitcham's final dive in Beijing was absolutely SICK! He needed to be one step above perfect to pull that off. I remember thinking "this is impossible; China has the gold medal sweep in the bag" and BOOM! The guy pulls it off. Incredible!

To me Matthew Mitcham is one of THE BEST Australian athletes in history. Not only did he leave a legacy in Beijing, he has done a lot for the LGBT community and the mental health community. He is severely underrated as an athlete. He is up there among the greats and I hope one day history will look back and celebrate him for the champion that he is.
One of our best without a doubt. He reached a level of excellence at Beijing in that competition that few human beings ever do.
As much as I love to watch platform diving, it always freaks me out a bit when they get prepared to dive & are on the very end of the platform on their tip toes, like I'm sure those boards have special coatings, but suppose they slipped. And also, when they take off I always think what if they hit their head on the platform! But I love watching it, they're extraordinary athletes!
Armed Society if you don't move in time they come right back up to wack you in the face!

A Russian diver was trying one of Greg lougannis dives in the eighties and hit his head on the platform and died of serious head injuries it is a risky sport that takes precision to master some of those insane dives love Anthony Fed ex lol

Terrible editing - you cut each dive off too soon. The entry to the pool and the aftermath are part of the dive, and part of the scoring. It's impossible to judge the entire thing (or appreciate what's so special about it) when you cut it off so early.

Imagine only getting... 10 = 0.5 x 9.81 x t^2 so t = like 1.42s.... imagine inly getting about 1.42 seconds to perform absolutely everything you've trained and practiced, literally everything you have dedicated your life for the past 4 or more years. Seems hard.

How deep is the water in the pool?
How did Mitcham score 10s on those last 2 dives? His pike shape was pretty average. I mean the overall dive was still definitely worth 9s and 9.5s but 10 is a bit generous. I've seen allot of divers get 7.5 and 8 for stuff like that. Did they used to not care about that as much or something?

I find it hard to believe that the female diver Wu MinXia, aka the diving machine, would have a lower score than David Boudia from USA who isn't that consistent.
Then you don't understand the mechanics of diving. You want judges to inflate women's scores for less difficult dives?

Yeah I would try and do that for you to show all my capable talents but my sweet hart has taken out Accident and dislimberment insurance on my person. I almost slip this morning while crossing the road almost causing dislimberment on one of the stripes in the street. That would have been a huge pay out luckily I'm ok no pins to keep me together.
